Tl dr: plenty of fun, great puzzles and tests your friendship limits (kidding) We had an absolutely great time at Escape The Room Milwaukee. I booked way far in advance. It was very easy to do using their online portal and got the tickets for a specific date night with me, my husband and two other couples. The manager was very welcoming, friendly, and did a great job explaining all the ins and outs of the escape room, especially for one of us who would never done an escape room before. Since we knew the theme ahead of time, our room had an 80s theme. We all dressed up in 80s themed attire too, which added an extra fun element to it and gave us a lot of fun and cool pictures. The escape room was so clever the time definitely feels like it goes by really fast and even when you think that you have 45 minutes or an hour in reality, it goes by in a blink of an eye. Only one of our members got scolded for trying to touch something a little too much regarding the stuff that's actually adhered to the wall (lol). Don't wanna give away any spoilers, but there was a lot of really cool elements in that specific room and the theme fit together really nicely! With all of the interesting things we had to find discover, get keys, codes, locks, and phone numbers! Maybe even a little old-school video game play. Would definitely come back again! read more

This escape room was so well done! The first room we did (we didn't get out, but it was SO good). We were coming back for a redemption at our fail, and when we got there, had a little issue but the staff and owner were super accommodating. The experience is lovely and the vibe is there. It truly feels like your being challenged with escaping a room. This was a lovely experience, and since we're out of state, will definitely return to finish off the rest of the rooms next time we're here on vacation. read more

The aesthetics of the Escape Room was cooler than cool. A time capsule of the 80's decade. It featured vintage games, 80's music, Miami vice season 2 poster, framed photo of Michael Jackson etc. Let's not forget the portrait of President Reagan and Gorbachev set near the leather biker jackets. Funniest parts of the experience: seeing someone slip on MJ's sequin glove; it served as a clue. Mistakenly assuming the Star Wars stormtrooper was pointing to a clue. "That was just a coincidence" says the voice over the hidden speaker. 7 minutes left on the escape clock when the escape door finally swung open. read more

This was an awesome experience! I went with a group of friends and did the Dig themed room. The theming was well done. Our room master was Brian and he was fun and very helpful. Overall, our escape room was a good challenge--not overly difficult, but required enough brainpower to feel satisfied at the end. Would recommend if you're interested in doing an escape room in the city read more

Came to this escape room twice--once with work and the other with a friend. Both experiences were fantastic! The first time we tried the Rec Room, which really tested our patience with coworkers, haha, but we managed to escape in time! The second time, we did The Dig, and that one was pretty challenging for just two people, but we made it out with a little help. I loved how the doors kept opening to more hidden paths to discover. Both times were a great experience, and I can't wait to try the other rooms! The staff was friendly as well, which made it even better! read more

First, let me say I've been to an escape room before for a work outing near Mayfair Mall area. Didn't like it at all, so wasn't excited about going to another one with my team this year. BUT- this one is actually fun!! The people that work there are amazing and there are different levels of the rooms to choose from. We did the "apartment" - what a blast! No longer am I a nay-sayer of escape rooms. Great experience! Very cool read more

Super spot in Milwaukee with a great staff. Get the dig room. Very immersive and fun for family, friends and work people.

I've done 2 of the escape rooms here now, both have been quite enjoyable and decently decorated and themed. The secret agent experience was my first go and I was quite impressed with the first room. It was my first escape room, and with a large group of friends who didn't know what they were doing so we failed. My memory is a bit hazy but from the many rooms I've run since, this is a solid 8/10 I came back to do the Dig experience and I found the first area of the room a little bare bones. We had joined a random group so space was tight and thematically I didn't feel like I was at an old abandoned steeple, however the dig site and another area were pretty neat. The puzzles were alright although at times it did feel like the group overly relied on getting hints. And the "story" of the experience didn't seem to really matter. 6/10 I'm looking forward to trying the remaining two experiences. All in all, there are much nicer escape rooms and Escape the Room does suffer from the limited space it's using. But in the same vein, there are much worse escape rooms as well. It's a good place to try it if you never done one before. If I had any suggestions, I would encourage Escape the Room to invest more in selling each experience. Escape in Time in Madison has experience from start to finish, and the games I've played there feel a lil more fleshed out. This would be as simple as different flooring for each room. More ambient lighting, and a little more decor. Obviously you can't over stimulate the players and checking every item for a clue, but often I feel lm just in room decorated with spirit Halloween props and told it's a suppose to be something, more than actually feeling like I'm there read more

We went for a work outing and had Brian helping us out. He was the best - super funny and helpful while we were try to escape The Apartment. I definitely want to come back and bring my friends here! read more

Wonderful place to visit. Our group signed up last minute yet the staffs we're accommodating. The staff was super friendly and gave us useful hints when our group is stuck. The room we were in was amazing. The puzzles were difficult but not impossible because it's not a linear escape room like all the other puzzles. The puzzles were unique as well because the way to solve them were not the first thing we think of and have to think outside the box to solve. One of the best escape room I have ever been to. If you're in Milwaukee and want to do an escape room this should be your first stop read more

Great staff. They're very kind and helpful for when you need hints. The rooms and challenges are very well layed out and not too hard but not too easy to do. I personally recommend the Rec Room if you're looking for the best escape room there. Great way to meet new people, and challenge your brain. Definitely recommend. read more

The staff member was great. He was very helpful. We were told we were playing in the hardest room. But we escaped with 6:43 left! The place was clean and convenient to area restaurants. So recommend this place. read more

Megan was so friendly & helpful! My friends a great time here today. Will be back soon!

I really debated the number of stars on this business. As a background my wife and I have done 57 escape rooms. We are 50-7 with most of the losses coming due to some sort of technical difficulty with the room (puzzles that malfunctioned, etc) or literally being 5 seconds away. Nevertheless we don't automatically rate rooms low if we lose especially if it's our fault. We did three rooms here today. We did the Apartment, the Dig, and the Rec Room. My major issues were with the last room. If you wonder where we are in terms of completing rooms we have completed some in the 5-10% range. The rec room is 17% which we have completed probably 10-15 in that range, sometimes with only two people. I've actually attached a screenshot of my team completing the hardest room in Hawai'i and making the record list. Here are my issues: 1. Biggest complaint - this is the only company we have ever been to where the room actually encourages cell phone use. If I wanted to play around on my smart phone literally needing to call numbers and google answers I would stay at home and do that. They expect you to use your cell phone as a flash light, calculator, google, call friends, etc. This is horrible in our opinion (all five of us that did their rooms). There's so many options to sit around staring at a phone. Why would you want to pay about $30 a person to use your phone in a room? What if you don't have good reception? 2. The puzzles in the rec room were not all that intuitive. There were some leaps of logic and situations where you would need to know faces of people etc. With no clues within the room to know who they were. Relying on guessing, knowledge, etc. If you were in your early to mid 20s or much older you would not be that successful in here. Even growing up in the 80s and 90s and an aunt who grew up in the 70s and 80s we struggled. 3. Some puzzles are easily shuffled up with no indication on how to put them back. What I mean is, in your shuffle to pick apart the room, there are certain puzzles that you can actually put out of order with no indication outside of asking the staff as to how to put it back together. And the order matters. Since I don't want to give away answers this is a random example. Say you opened a drawer and you had a penny on top of a nickel on top of a dime and you needed the code 1-5-10 in that order. If you knock over the stack of coins or don't remember what order they were in you could screw up a clue later. Is the code 1510, 5110, 1015, etc. That's never a good idea. You should always be able to know the order to put things into in one of these rooms 4. In one of the rooms they had failed to reset a lock. I locked it so we wouldn't cheat, but it was a failure to reset the room on their part with a lock wide open within the first minute of the game. 5. This room has no story whatsoever. What a boring theme. You can read some short blurb on the web page. But good rooms give you a video intro. Meh rooms the staff reads some sentence or paragraph about the situation. Blah rooms have you just go in and escape. No idea what the context was really behind the rooms or any immersive story. 6. Someone else mentioned and I agree that some puzzles are so counter intuitive that you almost require the clue master to help. Even that room screenshot I posted we did it with three clues the max allowed and it was much more difficult and much longer. But the puzzles made sense so the experience was fun. Having to be hand walked through the room and still cannot escape because the puzzles are so off the Wall is meh. That being said our clue masters were really nice. Overall we still had a lot of fun, especially on the dig. The quality of the props was great in all the rooms. Overall I was frustrated at times with some of the clues within the room etc. read more

Escape The Room - This was the hardest room in Hawai'i. I post this only to show that we have easily crushed even some of the most difficult rooms - Escape Games Near Me - Milwaukee, Wisconsin

Daniel was the man!! Uh Maze Ing!! The best Clue Master!! Will def come back to visit!

This was my first escape room, and I had the time of my life! I will start this off by saying that I had absolutely no idea what to expect. All I knew is that we'd be locked in a room and have to find a way to get out. My group and I did The Agency room, which is supposedly one of the more difficult ones? Spoiler alert: we DIDN'T escape, so it must have been pretty difficult considering our intelligence and critical thinking skills (jokes). Anyway, one thing that was kind of weird...we didn't get a backstory on the room or the mission or the ultimate goal. We were just instructed not to take pictures or videos, then locked in a room and told to go nuts. I learned from others that this isn't typical, that normally, they read a short blurb before sending you off. Weird, but like I said, I didn't know what to expect so it didn't bother me too much. Anyway, we got to work and spent far too much time on some clues and somehow figured out others very rapidly. We had a great time as we were in the middle of the game and got to the very last set of clues when we ran out of time. The game master explained to us the last few missing pieces, some of which were so obscure that I'm positive we never would have figured it out. Overall, besides the lack of backstory and obscure final clue, I had a good first experience at my escape room. I would do another at this location given the chance! read more

We had an absolute blast at Escape The Room. It's in a great location on Water Street downtown. Tons of choices for a bite to eat before you go in, or save it for after if you don't want to smell like garlic, etc while trapped in a room with your friends... just a tip. You're in for an hour. It really was refreshing to do something different. We had five people in our group and I feel like that's about right. Use your brain, work together and solve the puzzles. The clue master was fun and super helpful. Seems like a fun job. Try this out! read more

We wanted to do something different for my cousin's birthday, so her sister found this place online. We reserved our time (and paid in full, about $30/person) about two days beforehand.. Dates and times seemed to be booked rather quickly, and with our group of 10, we were limited to times with all 10 spots open. We arrived about 15 minutes early, and played a few games (JENGA, Battleship, etc.) they had in their little waiting area. At our time, we were explained the rules/how everything worked by the girl in the front, and then we were escorted to our escape room ("The Agency" - the hardest room they have). Our clue master, Benjamin, said a few words and then closed the door. My cousin and I were hoping for some type of back story, or like an introduction, since it was our first time ever doing something like this. But they pretty much just lock you in, and it's up to you to figure out what's next. We had 10 in our group, and each one of us was useful in someway to finding clues or solving the riddles. However, with so many of us, at times I felt like all I could do was sit back until there was something else we needed to find. Unfortunately, we didn't get to the end of the room - but we were SO close. Our clue master, Benjamin, was awesome! He was really nice and helpful, and answered questions for us afterwards. I do recommend this place, it was really fun! I also plan on going back to check out their other rooms. read more

My virgin escape episode ... was a lot of fun. Definitely should have 4 or 5 people, maybe up to 8, but that would be tight. Very stressful toward the end, especially with triple A personalities in the group. We made it with 2 minutes to spare, and felt like MacGyver! read more

I've done several escape rooms now, my favorite was still the first one I ever did in San Francicso. I kind of wish they'd have more unique names, there are so many that have opened up in Milwaukee. Anyway, I didn't like my experience at Escape The Room. The reasons are because they didn't really have structure. You can ask as many questions as you want and there should be more of guideline than that. So, that's one reason. Second reason, is a big one, to me they literally make it so you HAVE to ask questions. I mean some of the stuff just didn't seem to make sense or be solvable. And that sucks. I don't want to have to rely on their help and if I do, there should be limited opportunities and/or it should be earned. The grand ave I liked much better. I haven't had the chance to try the second one in the Third Ward, yet. read more

Escape the Room is a fun new place located in the Third Ward. Okay, maybe it's not that new. But I, personally, just stumbled across it. If you're like me, finding things to do in Milwaukee besides eating, drinking, and shopping can be hard. My parents were visiting from out of town so I wanted to surprise them with this fun, new activity! We love mind games and anything that challenges us, so when I told the fam, they were stoked. Walking in, the guys working there were funny and quirky and very nice! I have done a version of an Escape room before, and we made it out by the end of it--as most other groups did. So I was surprised to learn that at Escape the Room the success rate to get out of our chosen room (The Rec Room) was pretty low: 17%. Yikes. They also said you needed to know about the 80's to be in that room. Also, yikes - I'm a 90's baby! Luckily my parents lived through the 80's, as did my boyfriend for a few years. The ETR employees were confident that ratio of knowledge would be enough! Starting off, there really were a lot of fun clues and hints. I will say that the further we went I felt some of the hints and clues were a bit of a stretch to figure out. They weren't as simple as you'd think and after they gave us clues over the intercom, they made more sense, but I honestly don't know if you'd make the connection without their help. While some were more obvious, others were really reaching (in my honest opinion). We ended up being pretty dang close to finishing, but of course didn't. Regardless, my parents were THRILLED with the experience, as they had never done an escape room. They kept raving about it. So, I was very happy we all had a great time, regardless of failing our conquest. They also take your group pic and post on Facebook later, which is fun! They have three other rooms, which I think is pretty rare to find that many more options, so I'd love to be able to go back and try another. read more

We did not have a good experience at all. Our group went on 11/14 at 9:20 pm. The host was very rude with us. We were a group of Hispanic women in our 30's celebrating a birthday. He was disrespectful and verbally aggressive initially due to one person forgetting to put on their mask. I stayed because we had already paid for the escape room, otherwise I would have left after the initial encounter. Once in the escape room, I felt he was rushing us through the experience by volunteering clues over the speaker the whole time thus completing the hardest escape room, "The apartment" in 40 min with 20 min left. I felt like he was trying to get home early. I would definitely NOT go back. read more

I rented out the whole place for a high school students summer camp. All the students loved it!! We did the apartment and the agency rooms. All the students thought it was exciting and challenging. I definitely will be renting it out again next summer and I can't wait to bring my group of friends to do this over the weekend! It's that good, can't wait to go back. The owner? Or manager, not sure, but they were who I paid on arrival because I wasn't sure how many students I would have yet. I was able to give them a max possible number of students ahead of time which was great. The whole team at Escape the Room was wonderful. You could tell they really love their jobs and what they do. My group of kids did the Agency and it was super fun. It was exciting when you found another clue. We thought we were close to solving when the time was running short but turns out there was a whole other part! They gave us the option of showing what we missed. I can't wait to go back again to try it but I want to try the others first! 10/10 one of the most fun things I've done! Thanks guys! read more

Escape The Room - We didn't escape! Better luck next time! - Escape Games Near Me - Milwaukee, Wisconsin

Our cluemaster was so helpful and we all had an amazing fun all together. We definitely recommend this place.

in the last week We did the apartment with a group of ten. The room was very challenging with a lot of different puzzles to solve. The puzzle was fairly linear and unfortunately we were missing a tablet needed for an early part of the puzzle, so we got stuck. We waited too long to ask for clues and ended up not be getting out in time. Would have rated this much higher if part of our puzzle was not missing or if we were given extra time for their mistake. read more

I arrived in Milwaukee last night with a friend and the first thing we wanted to do was try out an escape room and we came across Escape the Room Milwaukee. I have played about 20 of these around the world and I really enjoyed this one! My friend and I were paired with a family of 6 and we managed to escape with a bit over 4 minutes left and a total of 2 (maybe 3) hints. If you are going in as your first time, The Dig might be a bit challenging, but it is so worth doing! Contrary to some other posts, the assistance of the staff is not needed at all. Everything was well contained in the room, and our team of 2 with some experience and 6 with little to no experience were able to take on the task with only 2 hints (we didn't see a key and had issues finding it- almost in plain sight). The host, Cameron, was also really friendly and we got paired with such a friendly and helpful family for the adventure. If you're in the Milwaukee area, I highly recommend checking this place out! I might stop by again before I leave. read more

Bring your imagination - none provided here! The premise of Escape the Room is that you are contained in a room and must open a series of locks to thus escape the room. Aptly named. I went with a group to "The Apartment" room and through a groupon we had the discounted rate of $20/person. We entered a stark apartment setup where we would spend the next hour. I thought maybe we would be working through a series of clues to find our way out of the room or uncover a mystery to find our freedom. While yes there were clues, they were just a series of numbers used to unlock the numerous locks around the room. The only way to progress through the game is to receive clues from the Clue Master on the screen, yes you will be watched throughout the game. We came to the end of the game and were unable to complete the final challenge due to a certain requirement that we did not have. Somewhat disappointing. I will tell you I was disappointed with the lack of inspiration applied to this puzzle, problem solving setup. Were we hostages like in Die Hard? Did a robbery occur with precious gems hidden somewhere in the apartment? No, more like trying to open your middle school gym locker, and I don't just say that because of the strange smell coming out the the refrigerator, (yes it should probably be cleaned, the box of baking soda is not working). I also want to point out that participants were asked to leave positive reviews in exchange for the chance to win free passes to the newest room that would be opening. Draw your own conclusions. I do like the idea of "escape the room" but the execution seemed bare bones and left something to be desired. Not sure how this one stacks up to the many other companies with the same setup. read more

A great addition to the escape room landscape in Milwaukee. Interesting rooms, difficult puzzles and no one trying to make you pee your pants! In other facilities, I've moved through rooms, ending up in a different location than where I started, but here there's clues throughout and you have to keep moving back and forth. Special bonus to the staff/the building - it's a shared public restroom in the hallway and the women's room requires a code to get in. I'm a big fan of that safety. read more

We did 'The Dig' room and it was so much fun. Highly recommend! Staff was friendly and helpful. Be aware that if you book online, expecting to have the room only for your group, I believe the website doesn't update well. We checked to make sure our group was the only one in our chosen room right before walking from a nearby restaurant and when we got there we were introduced to another group that was in the room with us even though their website listed only our group. read more

I've been wanting to do one of these escape things for some time now so I was happy when I got the chance to go. I really wasn't sure what the expect but for some reason the idea of the walls closely in on us as time passed was in my head (didn't happen or did it?). Since I don't want to spoil anything, I'll be as vague as possible. The rooms all have different themes: The Apartment, The Dig, and The Agency. I did The Apartment, and by working together, my team and I succeeded in getting out in under an hour, 57 minutes and 1 second. You have to spread out because if everyone works in one spot, you'll miss things. The clue master was helpful without giving out too many hints. Overall it was a fun experience! read more

I had the pleasure of going here for the first time on 7/13. There were three options: The Apartment, The Agency, and The Dig. I was assigned to The Agency--HOLY SHHHHT was it a race against the clock! This one was an adrenaline rush from start to finish! I am happy to report that we won/finished at 59:30, with only thirty seconds to go! Better late than never! The room and all its mystery were really cool! We got to peek into the other two rooms when we finished--those two were also cool. I can't give more detail--that's the name of the game. read more

I'm an escape room addict living in LA but originally from Milwaukee. I've done over 60 rooms in LA and am always excited to come home and check in on the Milwaukee escape scene. My group did "The Dig" here and I gotta say, having done at least one room at each place in MKE, this is the best by a pretty significant margin. I can't speak for the other rooms here but the production design on The Dig was fantastic, the puzzles were fun and logical, and the theme was interesting and sort of "dreamy" (that is, we didn't really get a story, and it didn't exactly make *sense* but didn't bother me either). We also crushed the record and I got a few friends hooked - all in all, great experience. Will absolutely be back over Christmas to try out the other rooms. read more

By far the most boring of escape rooms I've done. Not much creativity and finding objects and secrets around the place. Went here for the first time about 2 in a half weeks ago. It is a nice fun date idea but make sure you either come with a lot of people or book with a lot of people, it'll make it better when trying to find clues in the room. Oh and it's a little on the pricey side IMO- $30 per person. Now me & my boyfriend originally booked the apartment room but it was only the two of us so we ended up switching to the rec room once we got there because a group of 4 people had already booked the 80s rec room which wouldn't have been our first pick because we were both born in the 90's so as you can guess we were pretty much clueless. I wish the site would've highly recommended to come with people. But outside of that I would definitely go back, the staff was very friendly which is very important to me ! read more
