We did the Casino escape room. The puzzles were creative, challenging and fun to solve. We had 4 people in the room and I thought that was the right number. Check in was quick and easy. Thomas was our host and he did a good job of watching and prompting when needed. We escaped but got stuck a couple of times. We must be a little out of practice. I definitely think there is an art and skill to these games that you need to keep sharp. We would definitely come back to try another room. read more

We did the Kidnapping Pt. 2 Room and the room itself was great, but our game master was not. His name was Thomas. He was not energetic at all and talked in the same monotone voice the whole time. He was very disconnected with our group which from other escape room experiences our group has had, this was not normal at all for games masters. He was not engaged at all and seemed as if he didn't even want to be there. He was also every contradictory in his instructions with us, and also blatantly explained the rest of the room to us so quickly that we couldn't even understand. When walking us up to the front he didn't even ask if we wanted a picture, and basically rushed us out. I would highly recommend that others looking to book here specifically ask for a different game master and change if they get Thomas because his service was just not good at all. read more

My friends and I had an extremely fun experience our first time here! This escape room was definitely a memorable one. We chose Mystery Mansion, which was challenging enough but not too difficult either. As others said, they allow for unlimited hints, so you can determine how much you want to challenge yourself. Without giving away anything, this particular game has some scare factors in it too, so added bonus. The other thing I appreciated is that when you sign up for a game, they keep the room private to you and your party. Our game master, Faith, was more than awesome running our game and shared in our excitement and enthusiasm. Definitely will return to try another escape room. read more

This was my first visit to an escape room place and we really didn't know what to expect, it was quite a challenge! The staff was super friendly and accommodating and gave us hints and tips as needed. While they allow groups up to 8, I think that would be too many to actually focus on the task at hand. We had a great time attempting the do not disturb room which is apparently one of their hardest rooms. It would be nice to have a difficulty rating of some sort as half our group was new to escape rooms and we might've done a different one. This room was fairly small but the puzzles were difficult. Don't expect it to be like other escape rooms with multiple rooms or whatnot, but it was challenging and the puzzles were fun! We'll be back to try the others! read more

My group did the kidnapping room and it was a tough one. There is a lot of locks to figure out. A problem I had was the lack of direction in finding the lock combination orders. I feel like maybe there could be more clarity? But our guide Katie was awesome! She gave us clues that weren't too much or too little. So, I broke out. Well, in real life at least. This was my first time doing an 'escape room' and I was kind of nervous going into it. I wouldn't say I have a bad case of claustrophobia and can manage it well. But sometimes it sneaks up on me when I least expect it and I get thrown into a mini panic mode. So that's what really prevented me from doing them. However, Breakout dispels this with letting me know right away that the door is always unlocked in case you need it. It's also good to know there is a game-master or someone that's watching. Maybe that's how it is everywhere, but I was really glad to learn this. Putting the anxiety fears to rest, this was a blast! We did one of the hardest rooms, the kidnapping room. I won't give out any details because you ought to try it yourself! It's great for team bonding exercises or really putting your friendship with your close friends to the test. Takes a lot of cohesion to conquer the room and get out in time (you have an hour). FYI -- you can reserve a room for just you and your group. Or, there is the chance you'll work with other groups as well. Our group of 4 was the only group in the room, but I wouldn't have actually minded working with strangers. It's a cool social experiment! All in all, we got close (had 1 clue left before running out of time), but if we worked together a bit better, I think we would have beaten it. So my advice -- remain calm, work together and have fun! read more

This was the third escape room I've done (each at a different location) and although my group and I had a great time, I can't say that it was the best. My group of seven attempted The Kidnapping and with a couple hints we managed to get out in about 57 minutes. Jack was our game manager and he did a great job giving hints that didn't give out too much information and he definitely added to the excitement of the experience. Overall, I think the clues were pretty clever and engaging, but there was definitely a pattern of repetition that emerged. For most of the escape you are just finding keys or codes that unlock chests, which in turn reveal more chests and more keys, and so on and so forth. This was really my only major qualm with this escape room though. I just wish there would've been more interactive methods of escaping the room that went beyond keys, codes and chests. For example, midway through a different escape room that I've done in the past there was a trap door that was revealed that led to a whole separate room to escape out of, and The Kidnapping was just missing that wow factor. Also, it says in the description of The Kidnapping that you begin the escape room blindfolded and handcuffed, but they did not blindfold us, which was sort of disappointing. I'm giving this place four stars because my particular group had a really fun time and our game manager was great, but if you are really into escape rooms, I wouldn't recommend this one. read more

We had a mix of new and experienced escape room players, and our host Gabe was great at providing reassurances to a new player with questions about what to expect. The room itself was a fun difficulty level for a moderately experienced group - not too easy, not too hard. The casino room has more math than some rooms, but with a helpful white board to write down numbers. The clues all took some good thought, and we did ask for a couple hints, but all of them are definitely solvable (no logic leaps that seemed completely out of left field) - so again, an overall great experience! read more

I have done several escape rooms all over the Milwaukee area & have been impressed with all of them. Decided to give Breakout Games a shot with a group of 7. We successfully completed the "Mystery Mansion" room. By far this was the lamest and smallest Breakout I have ever done. Everything in the room seemed cheap and felt as though it could be easily replicated on your own. I have done escape room games for my classroom and much of this room felt just like that. Way too expensive for the experience you get. Not to mention the game wasn't set up correctly as when we walked in we are asked to shut a coffin that wasn't supposed to be open. Definitely ruined the surprise of that! All and all, the rooms were small, too hot & certainly not worth it for how expensive it was! Do not recommend. read more

We have participated in several rooms at this location. We love it because you aren't partnered with strangers if your group isn't big enough, and you can get unlimited clues. All of the hosts we've had have been good - friendly and encouraging and seem to really enjoy what they are doing. Most recently Russell helped us in Do Not Disturb. He read our group well and let us figure out most everything on our own, unless we asked for help (which is exactly what we wanted!). Hope to see more turnover in adding new rooms so we can try them all! read more

Breakout Milwaukee was such a great experience! Our entire group of 6 were first timers when it came to Escape Rooms. We weren't sure what to expect but the entire experience was such a blast. We completed the 'Do Not Disturb' room and broke out with 8 seconds to spare. We walked into a room set up just like a hotel room. We found clues and there were so many great effects like clues you could find with black lights, chilling evidence (literally chilling the evidence), and even "calling" the kidnapper to get more clues. We had a wonderful game master, Isaiah, aka Dr. Zay who helped us along the way. He was humorous and helpful and made us feel like we might actually have a future in detective work. (I kid, we all know we don't, but he sure did pump us up). I would recommend Breakout Milwaukee to anyone who wants to experience something new and different!! We did the Do Not Disturb room with a group of two. It had a lot of unusual, creative puzzles that required thinking very much outside the box... which might have made it too difficult if it weren't for our gamemaster, Krystyna, who did an excellent job being attentive and giving us helpful hints when we needed them. (We still didn't escape, but came close.) This room was fairly linear, so there aren't really a ton of puzzles to be working on at any given time. However, many of the puzzles require enough creative thinking that I feel like having a larger group would be helpful for brainstorming purposes. read more

I did the kidnaping. There were many puzzles with numbers and a lack of many physical puzzles. The space was small and eventually became dull. Much of this relied on locks with numbers which is the last bastion of escape rooms everywhere. Some times the clever way the numbers relate to objects in the room makes up for it but in this room, not so. What seems like a clever idea in retrospect is a complete mess when in the room. Seems like they are jumping on the escape room bandwagon without the insight that make a great experience. read more

I reached out asking if they could accommodate a family of 10 - I was told you could - got the family all together & I showed up to book it and I was turned away. I was told I was speaking to the manager at the location and she stated Corporate must have answered my online question and they are unfamiliar with her rooms and there was nothing she could do for me.
