We had already gone in 2 months earlier for a check up to ensure she was ready for removal. But for some reason it was only on the day of removal that Dr. Morita noticed a GAP between the canine teeth. He proceeded to tell my daughter that her teeth were smaller than normal, which caused the gap. WHAT? I'm no expert, but I'm pretty sure her teeth have been the same size throughout the 3 years! Prior to the removal appointment, I had already decided to change orthodontists so we proceeded with the removal. I requested Dr. Morita to call me as I wanted to get further clarification as to why the gap was not identified earlier. I also wanted to personally linform him of my reasons for leaving his practice. Instead of calling me (is it too much to ask for 5 minutes?)....he sent me an email and offered to put the braces back on. WHAT? I had planned to leave his practice quietly, but his lack of taking accountability is unacceptable. Advice to all - Choose your orthodontist wisely....it is a LONG and expensive commitment.

I chose braces for my treatment, and they explained that it would take some time to adjust in the beginning. During my first month, I called once or twice because I was getting cold sores. Even though it wasn't an emergency and was just my mouth adjusting to the wires, they still made time to fit me into their busy schedule and reassured me everything was fine. That extra care really stood out to me. They didn't have to bring me in, but since day one they've gone above and beyond to make sure I felt comfortable. Now I'm four months into treatment with no cold sores, no wire issues, and no complications at all. I've been to both their Aiea and Honolulu locations, and the service has been excellent at each. 10/10 recommend!

Please enjoyed reading my amazing experiences with dr Tammy and team! Before writing this review, I would like to share something important. Over the past 10 years, Dr. Tammy Chang has done more for me than I could ever fully express in words. Even with so many patients, she always takes the time to truly see each individual and treat them with genuine care and compassion. There were times in my life when I was going through very difficult periods. During those moments, visiting her clinic was never just a routine appointment. Her words and the way she treated me were never superficial--they were sincere and heartfelt. Every time I left, I felt encouraged, thinking, "I'll do my best until the next time I come back." She gave me hope exactly when I needed it most. Not only did my smile become more beautiful, but I also remember how my emotional well-being gradually improved throughout the orthodontic process, almost as if my mind was being aligned along with my teeth. Some people might feel that sharing something like this is too much. But I truly felt that her kindness came from a genuine place. In the end, she didn't just improve my smile--she helped restore my emotional strength as well. After my recent visit, I felt a strong desire to do something for her, so I asked if I could write this review. Although she is very humble and had never asked patients for reviews before, I could clearly feel how much it meant to her. That is exactly why I decided to write this. Everything here is based on real experiences--my own and those of people I know who have also been treated by her. This is not for marketing, but simply to share the truth. I have been a patient of Dr. Tammy Chang for many years, and I can say with complete confidence that she is not only an exceptional orthodontist, but also an extraordinary human being and leader. What truly sets her apart is her deep compassion. She treats every patient with kindness and respect, and I have never met a doctor with such a warm heart. You can feel this the moment you walk into the office. The front desk team greets you with genuine smiles, creating a warmth I have never experienced in any other clinic. You can also sense how much the staff trust and appreciate her. The entire clinic is filled with positivity. The interactions between staff and patients are so warm that it almost doesn't feel like a medical office--you simply feel happy being there. Even after not visiting for nearly five years, when I returned, each staff member came up to me personally to greet me and reconnect. That level of care is truly rare. In today's world, many clinics rely on marketing and social media, but Dr. Tammy's clinic is different. Her practice is built on trust, real quality, and genuine care--patients naturally refer others. That is exactly how I found her, and why I now recommend her with complete confidence. The next business day, the receptionist called me back to schedule an appointment with Dr. Kitamura. I recently went last week to my appointment. She asked questions about my permanent retainer and wanted to see it. The Doctor then came out to check it out. They gave me the price to put the retainer back in. Which was a lot however i needed to get it done so i paid for it anyways. As the dental assistant put the retainer back in, she was awesome. She explained exactly what she was about to do. I dont really give out reviews unless I find it necessary. That said, I only do so when it's bad service. When I told them it felt off, the doctor fixed it on the OPPOSITE side of where I told them, which wouldn't be a problem, but when they fixed it on the right side, it added up so ultimately it still had the same issue. Not only that, the person who was taking care of me [i didn't get her name] pinched my lip pretty hard between the braces wire and the brackets. When I reacted the first time, it hurt pretty bad. I was still a little worried when she did it again, because she pinched it a few times and it stung a bit while she put it on, I flinched. She seemed kind of annoyed at that. I felt uncared for and like they didn't care about my comfort and needs. Now I look at it, it's really uncomfortable to "rest" my mouth to look normal, and when I actually rest it the "build up" is what they called it, forces my mouth to look crooked due to uneven amounts on each side. It's slightly unclear in the photos, but it's more clear if I had gotten them from the same angle. Other than that normally it's better service, so hopefully it'll get better again with time with this new doctor, but I'm not a fan of it so far.
