Contacted them and made an appointment to come out to provide a quote. Jeff showed up on time and was very courteous. I was provided with a quote very soon after that and found they were the best price. The crew came out to install the railing while I was at work, so I didn't get to experience how they worked first hand, however, my neighbors said they were professional and worked hard, completing the job in one day. I was very impressed with the work quality and six months later, I still love my railing. Fantastic job guys! I definitely recommend Carl's and will keep them in mind for future work.

The salesperson, John was very friendly and we seemed to think he was accommodating. We waited weeks to obtain the permit until we finally went to the town ourselves and got the permit the next day. I then called Carl's to let them know we had the permit. I was told by Samantha I could only have Friday..either this Friday or next Friday??!!! What's with that?? I think I know. Yesterday a truck arrives and it is fence installation day..however it is a subcontractor which we never were told about. If I wanted another company that's who I would have called! These 3 men started at 8:45 in the morning. Needless to say the job did not go seamlessly! At 9:15 pm they were still not done..they were working in the dark, music blaring and hammering. They left at 10:15 pm. My property is a mess, there is stuff thrown all over. My sprinkler pipes are exposed but most importantly the fence looks hideous. There are gaps everywhere, the doors are ill fitting etc. They were supposed to return today but so far, it's a no show! Do not use this company if you want a good job done for alot of money..$$$$$$! I am praying that I can get this resolved...use caution with this company.I don't care how long they're in business, we are being treated poorly and ripped off! Sorry for the long rant!!

I'll get back to the other 2 "good review" companies at the end. John contacted me immediately and scheduled an estimate. He showed up on time, did his measurements and then walked us through our options and what the install would entail. Very courteous and professional. When I informed John we wanted to hire them he made him self available right away. We signed a contract on a Sunday and the fence was installed and completed the following Saturday! The install crew was very thorough, very neat and did an amazing job! I can't say enough good things about John and Everlast Fence. The materials are better then others, the price is better and the service is better. We got an amazing deal from a special they were advertising. And the other 2 "good companies" I had contacted, one was so much more than Everlast Fence I almost laughed. And the other still hasn't even called me back!

I do not recommend SJ Fence LLC. Poor quality and difficult to get help with issues. Purchased an…read morealuminum fence to surround swim spa. The fence gate required a locking latch to meet pool standard in my community. The gate latch is poor quality, --the latch will not open, or it sticks closed (requires oiling monthly, as well as constant adjustment to the latch). Discussed this with Dan on several occasions by phone or text (since installation in 1/2025). He inspected the latch during a visit and said it would be replaced. In addition, the installers cut the sprinkler system line in two places (the cuts in the line are obvious). Dan was told about the existence of the sprinkler system at time of purchase (installation team reminded as well). Two attached photos show cut in line adjacent to concrete (by shovel?), as well as cut in line where line sits atop of corner of concrete (zoom in on the photo). When I brought the gate latch to Dan's attention by text and voicemail (again earlier this week), he said no one told him the gate latch wasn't replaced. He said someone would drop by and repair/replace the gate latch, and he would repair the sprinkler line. I'm not sure why he expected me to remind him again about the gate latch (how many conversations does it take to get it done?). I declined to have him fix the sprinkler line as I already did the job myself (hopefully it doesn't continue to leak), and I didn't want to get into another back and forth with him about completing the work (as I experienced since 1/2025 about the gate latch).

Used these folks and truly regret it. They came to the…read morehouse and sounded really great. Said all the right things. Said they don't use cement to hold posts. They go down 3 feet, instead. Use cedar wood, etc. Agreed that we would have a 4 foot high metal (aluminum) gate, not wood, as suggested by other companies. Gave them a deposit right before Christmas, 2013. They said they'd start the job by the end of January. We had a HORRIBLE winter, so we expected a delay of a few weeks, at least. However, I called them on 3/18. No response. I called on 3/24. No response. Sent an email to Angie's list. They said I should hear from the owner, Michael, by the end of the week. Finally, Juan and Romeo came on 4/8 and took the fence down. On 4/9 they came back and left equipment to build fence on site. Didn't know they'd do that. Thought they'd bring in finished panels. Then, had to explain to the workers the specifics of the job -- gate placement, that wood is to be cut "dog eared", etc. Didn't Michael tell them anything? Back on 4/10, built and installed most of the fence. Then told us they'd build a nice, strong, WOODEN, gate. Told them we wanted a BLACK METAL gate! Guys came back on 4/14 -- lunchtime. Marked warped boards to be replaced. Built some panels. Didn't install any. Asked for 1/3rd of the payment. I had no idea they'd be asking for money on this date. No prior notice. Guys return on 4/16 -- finish the fence, install the gate posts -- for a SIX FOOT HIGH GATE, not FOUR, as we had requested. on 4/16, called and left message on Michael's phone. Sent two emails to Michael regarding gate. As of 4/20, no response. As of 4/30 -- no word from Michael. Meanwhile, we found more boards that needed to be replaced, and all the old fence post holes had been left open. They need to be filled in. As of 5/9 -- no word back from Michael about gate (or anything else.) 5/28 -- spoke with Patty, Michael's wife. She said the gate is "almost done" and that it take a while to get the stuff from the manufacturer. I think she could tell I didn't believe her. As of 7/3 -- We still owe them 2K. Left message that we were going to find someone else to give us a gate and consider them paid in full if we don't hear from them today. On 7/9, the Fortress Fence adventured continued. We took a ride down to Wall Township to find the Fortress Fence office. We found it. It looked deserted. No one was around. We called out -- nothing. I started writing a note to leave for them when Michael and Jose actually drove up in a Fortress Fence truck! We actually got to SPEAK with Michael. He said he actually received 2 gates -- each the wrong size, so he said he'd come up again, measure, and submit the order again. Hmmmmm. We ended on a decent note. He apologized to us and I just kept stressing "communication!". He texted me later in the day and said he got a promised ship date of 7/24 from the gate company. On July 30, got a call that the gate would be in by the coming Thursday, and the gate should be installed on Saturday, 8/2/2014. It rained on 8/2. The guys came on 8/4 to install the fence, and didn't bring the metal fence pieces for each side of the gate. Juan went off and got pieces from Atlantic Fence. They installed everything, replaced approximately 20 boards (and could have done more because more were bad, but they ran out of wood.) They also filled the holes with sand, not dirt. What a bad experience. It looks like they may be out of business now. If that's the case, it's no surprise. If they're still in business, THAT's the surprise!! I wouldn't recommend this company to anyone. It's now July 1, 2015. We had a harsh winter, again. As the winter progressed, the gate panels moved farther and farther away from each other. Apparently, the posts were pushing up and out of the ground! The gate was no longer able to latch. I thought the posts were to be placed below frost level, so that this didn't happen? I guess they didn't go far enough down for our installation. Now that it's summer, the gate panels have moved back into place -- mostly. The gate still won't latch, but at least the panels meet at the center. But still we have a gate that doesn't work properly. Unreal. What a poor job overall!
