Montserrat and Oller Vineyard Tour - A Day to Remember!
Our tour began at the Barcelona Nord bus station, and from the very start, I knew it would be a memorable experience--thanks to our exceptional guide, Maria. She, along with two other knowledgeable guides, accompanied us throughout the day, sharing fascinating stories and insights about Catalonia's rich history and culture. Their passion for the region was evident and truly elevated the journey.
We took a scenic tram ride up to the Montserrat Monastery, and the views during the ascent were simply breathtaking. Once at Montserrat, we had the freedom to explore the basilica (including a moment for candle lighting), the museum, and the charming farmers market. I appreciated the flexibility of the itinerary--those looking for a more active experience could hike up to the cross, taking in both the exercise and the panoramic scenery.
Everywhere we turned, there was something captivating--from stunning architecture and intricate busts and statues to incredible works of art and vibrant stained glass.
We opted for the lunch add-on, and it was worth every penny. After our time at Montserrat, we traveled to Oller del Mas vineyard, where we enjoyed a delicious meal featuring zucchini cream soup, roasted chicken with asparagus and potatoes, and a delightful dessert. The lunch included two glasses of wine--your choice of house red or white--both perfectly complementing the meal.
Following lunch, we toured the vineyard and learned about its fascinating transformation from a pottery producer to a winery. The wine tasting was another highlight, made even more special by Maria, who seamlessly shifted from historian to sommelier. Her deep knowledge and engaging explanations of each wine's complexity added a wonderful layer to the experience. Maria's ability to wear both hats so effortlessly speaks volumes about her passion for the region. All the guides were fantastic, but Maria was truly outstanding. read more
