This was one of my favorites.

I recently went back to Barcelona and joined The Barcelona Taste for an evening of amazing meals. My second experience was just as good as my first. The staff were knowledgable and friendly. They took us to four different restaurants and provided some insights into the restaurant and local cuisine. This is a must do on any visit to Barcelona. An evening enjoying Barcelona cuisine will be a must on every future visit to Barcelona. Thanks to Jo and Anna for a great evening.

Absolutely delicious chicken burger with a fried egg on top, because who doesn't like gooey fried eggs. We also really enjoyed the croquettes and patatas bravas here.

Final stop and also my favorite stop!

The Barcelona Taste was definitely worth the long day of travel from Los Angeles. I loved the small group atmosphere. It really felt as if I was among friends out enjoying dinner. We were guided by Jon, who is not only delightful, but also a wealth of knowledge. Book this tour, you will not be disappointed!

One of the wonderful places we visited in the Gothic Quarter

I can't say enough about how terrific this tour was. If you are on the fence (I was) - I say do it, and do it early enough in your trip to benefit from your new found knowledge of dishes, tips, and restaurant suggestions. We did the Gothic Quarter tour and visited 3 places (one of which was in El Born). We visited a traditional Spanish tapas place, a typically Catalan spot, and ended in a wonderful place for desserts. The price for the tour was very reasonable given the amount of food, drinks and time it took to orient us. We had looked at other tour options but I am so glad that we went with this one because it was an intimate dining experience, rather than feeling like a large tourist group being taken to mediocre spots. We were two couples that had come together to Barcelona, and so it felt more like a wonderful dining experience with friends, with a local engaging guide. The tours take up to 6 people, and in our case, there was no other folks on the tour, just us 4 and our guide. Our guide was Lorea, a local, who is clearly very knowledgeable about food, restaurants and the city. She was thoughtful, spoke to us about a variety of issues that we were curious about, from food history to current events in Barcelona, and was a really warm and inviting host. We asked for suggestions (given our tastes) and later that night she had already sent us a list of curated recommendations for restaurants based on what we were looking for. So far have been to two of the restaurants and they have been fabulous. A number of the suggestions are hard to find on the internet, and so we never would have stumbled upon them. I cant say enough about how much this has added to our overall experience here.

Just kicked it up a notch

The pace was perfect -- a great combination of eating, walking, touring, and photospots so just when you were getting full, you had the opportunity to have a little walk to work up an appetite for the next stop. We went to at least 5 separate eateries (although I honestly I started losing count), some of them quite historic including the famed 4 Cats cafe. The tour even vetted out the best churros and best chocolate in the city (separate businesses), and brokered a deal that enabled us to try them together! Brian was a delight and in many of the restaurants, clearly knew the staff and owners -- this was great as it made us feel like VIPs and also gave us some insight into the history of the business -- some of them had been open and family run for many years! And weirdly -- even though Brian is American-born -- I felt that to be a plus: he was able to answer some of the more "basic" questions I might have been uncomfortable asking to a local, and given his time spent living in Spain thus far, I felt like he was still able to give us a really down-to-earth, local introduction to the city. Due to the size of the group, we only went to places where they could make reservations and seat a large group in a private back room. So we didn't visit any truly hole-in-the-wall places, but all the food was good so we didn't really mind. I will say this tour is possibly better for the beginning of your visit to Spain rather than the end. My partner and I had visited San Sebastian prior to Barcelona, and so many of the foods Brian was "introducing" like boquerones and croquettes we had already enjoyed and indulged in many times before.

We started the day with a windsurfing lesson on the Mediterranean Sea. On the drive there, Antoine described the Sitges area--its history and culture. He is exceptionally knowledgeable and pointed out all the major things visitors should know, along with great recommendations for things to do. What really set Antoine apart, though, were the little things he did throughout the day. After our windsurfing lesson, the sand was unbelievably hot! I was stranded, standing on my sail to avoid burning my feet, and Antoine ran over, grabbed my sail, and helped me off the beach. It was such a minor effort, but it perfectly reflected how attentive he is. For lunch, he took us to an amazing local restaurant and patiently walked us through the menu, explaining the dishes. Later, when we decided to relax on the beach, he even arranged towels and an umbrella for us to borrow since we hadn't brought any. Again, it was those thoughtful touches that made the experience so memorable. Antoine was simply fantastic with my 15-year-old son, engaging him with ease and making us feel like he wanted to be there with us throughout the day. If you're looking for a guide who is knowledgeable, personable, attentive, and genuinely invested in making your experience unforgettable, I can't recommend Antoine highly enough. Thank you for a truly wonderful day!

From the moment we contacted Margo months before our trip until we returned home, every email, inquiry, question, etc. was responded to in a timely fashion with very useful tidbits of information about our trip. There is no way we could have been as organized or packed as much into our short stay in Barcelona as we did without Margo's assistance. We initially contacted Margo to arrange a bike tour, but she provided many additional recommendations for restaurants, sites and stops along the way, all of which turned out to be great. Her personalized approach to customizing our experience really set Hi. This is Barcelona... apart from other tour groups. The day after our arrival, we spent the entire day on a bike tour of Barcelona. We had told Margo that we wanted to see as much of Barcelona as possible in a day, and our expectations were far exceeded. Our local guide, Angel, was born and raised in Barcelona. Angel was delighted to share his knowledge of and passion for Barcelona in a way that made us feel like locals. We made our way along the port area, up Montjuic, crossed the city towards La Sagrada Familia, then headed towards the Olympic Village and back along the coastal beaches. Throughout our voyage, Angel deftly guided us through the city streets as he pointed out historic landmarks, various neighborhoods and their features, architectural influences and many other significant tidbits of information that would have otherwise gone totally unnoticed and unappreciated without him. Even after the tour was over, Angel accompanied us back to our hotel and gave us recommendations for our continued adventure up the Catalan coast. His recommendations led to some the most memorable experiences of our trip. If you want to truly feel like a VIP in Barcelona, then Hi. This is Barcelona... is for you!!

Run! Run! Run! to book the Tapas Food Lovers Tour in Barcelona! Our guide Mar was spectacular!…read moreCharming, knowledgeable, passionate, and funny, we loved her guide to some of the most spectacular dishes I NEVER would have known to order. We had three stops for the evening and started out at La Bodegueta Provença for a selection of fish dishes and a delicious Spanish white wine. Highlights here were the fried baby octopus and cod croquettes. Here's the thing about these restaurants: I looked at the individual reviews here and on other sites, and while they were high, they weren't as high as I would have rated them based on my experience. The reason for this is that the tourists are not with the locals to know what to order. With this tour, that is not an issue. Mar knew exactly what to order and what was the best on the menu. For a four hour of gastronomic adventure, the food was adventurous, just like it like it, and there were NO MISSES. Everything, and I mean everything, was absolutely delicious! There were 7 of us on the tour and with Mar, our group was 8. Each little restaurant was a surprise and had a table set for our group. Barcelona is a food lover's town in general, and there are hundreds of restaurants around the Eixample district where we focused. Our next stop was Taverna Mediterania. We tried the delicious tripe stew and beans with charred seafood, both excellent, along with a traditional potato and tuna salad with peas and carrots. The house made vermouth accompanied our courses here. By this time, our group had been drinking plenty and we we just like family. The last stop was the absolutely spectacular Taverna del Clinic for dinner. We were served an incredible Rioja with a 7 course Michelin-star worthy meal! We started with what seemed like endless Iberico ham and tapas bread. Next was a cherry gazpacho with raw clam and caviar. Onto a course of perfectly cooked octopus on a bed of something creamy and delicious finished with truffle oil. Then we had a sea scallop on a bed of hearty porcini mushrooms with shaved white truffles. Our main was a crepe cannelloni filled with foie gras, duck and mushrooms. It was crazy good! Last was a sweet dessert course of raspberry mousse with a citronella sorbet on top. Heavenly! We got a brief tour of the kitchen and also got to meet the chef. After having completed a Mediterranean cruise ending in Barcelona, this was the culinary highlight of my two weeks across Spain, France, Italy, Malta, Turkey and Greece. It's that good! Mar is the best! The value is unprecedented for your 4 hours of epicurean menus and excellent camaraderie. This is a "Must Do" in Barcelona!

We searched online and stumbled upon Barcelona Day Tours as they are very highly rated on Trip Advisor. We ended up booking their tour and not other tour companies for the following reasons: 1. Our experience with booking tours with third party companies like TripAdvisor and Viator have been pretty hit or miss 2. They are a family owned company that you can book a tour directly on their website (https://barcelonadaytours.com/about-us/) 3. They are very transparent in their communication and pricing. Before I booked the tour, I emailed them and they were very quick and thorough with their response. 4. Very flexible cancellation policy 5. Prices were much cheaper compared to all the other tour groups Tour: We booked the half day tour from 9am to 1pm and added on skip-the-line access to Park Guell. We also paid extra for La Sagrada Familia tickets to do on our own at the end. We wanted a smaller group so the maximum people in the party was 12 people. They picked us up at the hotel, which was super convenient as we were recovering from jet lag so it allowed us to sleep in. Our tour guide, Elena, was a Barcelona native so was incredibly knowledgable about the city. Her English was also very good and spoke clearly and loudly - very easy to understand. She was very funny and presented all of the history of Barcelona in a very relatable way. She was well-prepared, professional, and personable. The timing of the trip and the organization was spot on. We stopped at a few major points: 1. National Museum of Art - an impressive site with great views (took pictures) 2. Park Guell - a lot of own time was spent here which was awesome because this was our favorite place in Barcelona 3. La Sagrada Familia There were many other POIs that we didn't necessary stop at but we drive by and discussed. I preferred this as it would've been exhausting to stop by every POI and get off the bus. They also offered free water on the bus. They do not provide food (this is clear in the tour description) but the tour finishes early enough for you to grab lunch on your own at the end. They also provide food recommendations! One of the things we liked the most was that Elena would know exactly when to stop for the best photo opportunities. She fought off the crowds so that she could take pictures for everyone in the group! Value: As I said earlier in the post, this was one of the most affordable tour groups that I could find. Also I think it is cheaper if you book directly on their website (69 euros vs 89 dollars on tripadvisor). We added on the skip the line at Park Guell and also the La Sagrada Familia entry so it was a little bit more expensive, BUT, well worth it. Otherwise we would've had to book those separately, which is a hassle in itself because those need to be reserved in advance. Service: One of the best parts of this company was their service. From the very beginning, when we sent them an email asking questions, to even after our tour, they were committed to the best customer service. Their responses were prompt and detailed. They were personable and eager to make sure we had a great experience. Other: I would highly recommend this company for an introduction to Barcelona. They set the tone for the rest of our time in Barcelona!
