I am not from Carlisle, but had the opportunity to spend the day roaming the streets and just decided to pop in here. From what I understand they partner with different wineries and that determines what wine they have available to taste. You get four samples and they were good size pours too (also they have wine slushies!) I wasn't overly impresses with the wine, but the vibe was nice and on Saturdays they have live music -- this is going to be a small plug for the group they had playing, Country-Wise, because, though I didn't particularly care for the wine, I drank it all just so I could continue to sit there and listen to this absolutely entertaining group! The lead singer, he did all sorts of voices to go with the songs he sang and he did a really great version of "Do you wanna build a snowman?" It was fun to listen to and they played about an hour past when they should have wrapped up! Other places in the area! Book these guys! :) At any rate, I will go back for live music and maybe a new winery. read more

A nice surprise find! Great place to take out of town guests to sit and chat over sampling's of wines, and some ordered cheese/crackers. I'm not a wine connoisseur, so I couldn't tell you how special their wines are, but I know which ones I liked better than others. The staff was super friendly, welcoming and informative. A very relaxing atmosphere. Looking forward to going back to hang out, especially on their pitches in nice weather. A little pricey but going now and then is fine. read more

As I frequent at Castlerigg, I am continuously impressed by the service. Alan & Kathy, brother and sister, run the shop and make everyone feel welcome. As repeat customers, they have invested in building relationships with us and who doesn't love someone who can make a wine suggestion for you?! I love the food menu which also consists of recommended wine pairings for each small plate. They frequently have live music on the weekends and feature exciting things like Girl Scout cookie wine pairings. I love it here and will continue to come back! read more

Was very confused by the service of this place. We had stopped in to grab a bottle of wine on our way to dinner. My friend who is just a loud and very friendly person said "we are so excited to try some wine!", to which the employee responded by saying "sounds like you've had a bit too much to drink today, I won't be able to serve you." I understand precautions and law but it was very warranted. We had not had any drinks prior to so just going based off of someone's excitement level is odd. read more

She wasn't pleased that we decided not to purchase the 5 tastings and opted to taste only 2 and purchase 1 glass. Castlerigg is a great little shop in town with excellent wine from local PA wineries and wonderful appetizers to share. The staff is incredibly welcoming and knowledgeable about their product. The shop itself is set in a gorgeous historic house with comfortable seating perfect for small or large groups. This is a great place for date night! Very relaxed and intimate setting and the staff is very friendly. My wife and I had the 4 2oz tastings and the guy in the kilt was very helpful in his suggestions and food pairings. There was also live music, (the guy on the harmonica killed it!) and given that the main sitting area is pretty small, the music was not cranked so loud that you couldn't hear the person in front of you. Four is visited Castlerigg today and we were all very pleased. Alan was courteous, friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating. We did a tasting and we all have different taste in wines and Alan made suggestions that met our needs. Their wines are amazing and we all purchased a couple of bottles. The shop is in an old building and the seating is comfortable. Alan checked on us occasionally and we never felt rushed. It was a great experience.
