I contracted Liz to do my 2016 taxes on the basis of her high Yelp ratings. She came to my house and did all the work in about an hour which I thought was almost too good to be true. And it was... A couple of months ago I got a letter from the IRS saying my tax return was being audited because a 401(k) withdrawal I had made was not reported! I had in fact given Liz all the necessary papers but she had neglected to report that transaction. Long story short, I now owed the IRS close to $3,000. I emailed Liz about this and she wrote back saying she would look into it and get back to me. One month and a half later, she finally wrote back basically saying she didn't have my papers and that was the end of that. By the time she had gotten back to me (6 weeks later!), I had already sent the IRS payment in full. I know a filer is ultimately responsible for what is filed, but here's the rub: I didn't hire Liz to simply be my secretary and type up a bunch of papers for me. I hired her to do a complete and professional tax prepare's job. To ask all the necessary questions of me being as she's the expert, not me! Time to look for another tax preparer... read more

Final update: CPA confirms owner left out multiple 1099s and failed to report write-offs on my mother's tax return. She is careless. Now the IRS will be put on notice when we send in the amended return. Please see other newer complaint. This woman needs to be put out of business. She does not know what she is doing. This was the second year I filed my taxes with SO Cal. I will explain much as possible to PLEASE not use this company again. I am still dealing with the IRS because of Elizabeth's lack of professionalism, timeliness and overall just a awesome experience and very costly experience. No matter what she says I have every email correspondence and text messages for proof of her total lack of professionalism. Anyone who wants to see the correspondence, will gladly sent them out. April 7 2017: dropped of my paperwork to Elizebeth. April 19 2017: due to additional information, Elizebeth stated she filed an extension. April 19-June 13th: we were back and forth with emails with questions. Sometimes I would go weeks without hearing from her then I would text or email her. Almost every time state that she sent me an email which I never would receive. On the 13th I sent her another email asking for an update and she sent me the information below. Yes, I had emailed you week before last but hadn't heard back . Was planning a follow up this week. Ok, so good news is you won't have any capital gains tax from sale of your father's home. But you do have cap gains from the sale of your rental. Your gain on the home was $116,668 after factoring in depreciation and selling expenses. This means that you owe quite a bit. Federal balance due $22,067 CA balance due $4,352 This was a total mess up on her part. There are many follow up emails but long story short, she acknowledged her mess up by putting blame on the program and not herself AND did nothing to fix this. I was overseas and only thing I could do was have her mail all my stuff to an address. YES!!!! She did apologize but this was a total mess. I had to fly all the way to the states to get my taxes completed AND she was off by $17,000!!!!!! Just imagine if I jus paid it. If it was me, I would of done anything and everything in my power to fix this program fast as possible AND after paying my taxes I got a $1,500 late penalty. Wonder what happened to the file extension. Yes, I've emailed her but haven't received a response. Can't wait to here IF I hear what she did if she did fine one. Will do everything I can to make sure this doesn't happen again to someone else. I paid my taxes and will pay my penalty. I take full responsibility for using this company and her services. I was looking for a more affordable, and convenient way to do my Taxes this year since last year Jackson-Hewitt charged me an arm and a leg for just my personal taxes. Elizabeth came out on a rainy friday night after I got out of work and quickly did my federal and state return at 2/3 the cost of Jackson-Hewitt. She answered all my questions and was quick and efficient. Shortly after I checked the IRS website and it shows my return set to be deposited shortly, I highly reccomend. read more

I have used Liz for the past two years and am gearing up to file again in a couple of weeks. I am so happy with the excellent service she provides. I don't have to go anywhere or worry about anything. I simply email her my w-2's, student loan forms, and any other pertinent tax information she needs from me and she takes care of it. I get an email back with my refund amount and just wait for the money to hit my bank! It's awesome. She answers ALL of my questions throughout the year as well. I can simply pick up the phone or shoot her an email and she gets me the information I need to make better decisions about the upcoming tax year. I used to go to H&R block and I would spend way too much money to sit in front of a tax preparer for over an hour answering their questions while they typed in my basic information...line by line.
