Well, I called today and spoke to Joe. I was calling to get information and request a consultation…read morefor getting a replacement main entry door for a triplex building. I stated that I was interested to get all the numbers and information for a garage door as well, but the priority was, the main entry door. That is when Joe told me they don't do residential entry doors. I responded that I was looking at a magazine advertisement that states and shows pictures that they do entry doors. Joe, didn't have a smooth response and danced around with some word salad that they only do high end with a garage door. Okay, I can see high-end in the magazine pics. I know I am not calling a big box store. I called knowing it was going to be expensive, but also hoping I could justify the price with the words of 'get what you pay for.' But Joe clearly didn't even want to know anything about my needs for a replacement door and associated possible costs to allow me to make my own decisions. He simply made a snap judgement; wrote me off with a lie. I have money to manage and make decisions with. It was very much a let down and disappointing to be lied to by Joe; right there on the phone when ATotalDoor.com website states and shows that they do residential doors. I keep an apartment in my building along with two other nice Airbnb apartments that I manage in the Truman Historic District. I only stay there part time as I have another home in the country where I spend most of my time, when I'm not traveling and flying my family's private aircraft. I called A Total Door because I wanted something better than big box store and knew the price was going to be more. Not sure if Joe's quick judgement of whether I was a worthy customer or not, reflects the entire company and management of A Total Door. Nevertheless, he is representing A Total Door, and I'll clearly go out of my way to call both Joe and A Total Door company out as: false advertisers, liars, misrepresentative, judgmental, snobs, bigots and equal opportunity racist. Myself and most hard working, quality minded and kind people want nothing to do with such shallow minded people and businesses. I get it if you choose to do business with this company, because the product pics are awesome. Hopefully your home or business will be fabulous when the job is done. Just be aware that A Total Door it is all about the getting the easy money from low hanging fruit.

After I told him I screwed up the door myself by attempting an install of the wireless unit I bought at Home Depot, he nodded, smiled, and made some adjustments to the door. I know better than to mess with a garage door and its spring. A couple days later, as scheduled, he came back and replaced the keypad, which was the reason I got the Home Depot fiasco in a box, and I couldn't be happier. His personality and willingness to JUST FIX things nailed it for me. Are there some issues to handle in the future? Yes. Did he point them out? Yes. Should I do more than just the basics? No. He knows what he's doing, is confident in that, and is capable of doing all. No hard sells here. Just an honest neighbor who knows garage doors, telling me what's needed. This is your garage door guy and he's in my phone now as such. He serves all of KC- including the northlands to excelsior and south down to Belton. I can't recommend him enough.

We went through the process of getting a few bids for new doors before we heard about Grateful Door. The owner, Bill, answered our call right away and came the next morning to look at the project. We were immediately impressed by his knowledge of all things garage doors related! He didn't try to upsell at all - actually explained where we could save money without sacrificing quality. We bought the doors from him, not just because of a better price than his competitors, but also because of his low key and straight forward, honest approach. Bill is as ethical as they come - and delivers what he promises. You won't be disappointed!

Within 10 minutes I was contacted by a few businesses through the inquiry on Yelp and call/text message because I selected that option. I decided to go with the one closest to me hoping I could make an appointment within the next couple weeks since it was the middle of the week on a Wednesday afternoon. Colby called and let me know he was nearby and could stop by on the way back and give me a quote, I agreed. They arrived early about 4:15 and finished the entire tune-up by 4:50! They gave us some great advice to maintain certain things between tune-ups and offered to lock in the price if we continue to use their service in the future. To say I am impressed might be an understatement, because usually companies will try to make services overpriced and only do the job they came for. Colby and Elijah were thorough and took their time to make sure I understood everything they did to ensure the garage door was back and better than ever! I was given a few ballpark quotes for work we will need in the future, but does not need immediate attention. Also, sent a website where I can design the type of garage door I would like next and they offer a great deal for installation. Victor construction initially told me they would be replacing my roof as well as my gutters. However, only the roof got replaced. When questioned, they claimed it was a clerical error on their part and did not do anything to correct this. Not only that, but the roofers ran into my garage door causing it to need to be replaced. Victor Construction took very little accountability, making the roofer pay for the new door out of pocket. When I asked Victor roofing if they were insured, I never got an answer which increased my anxiety about the situation. After a week, the door was finally fixed but I had to make a lot of phone calls to get progress made. I also did not have the contact information of the person who broke the garage door for several days. As a first time home buyer and being new to this type of work, I felt taken advantage of during this whole situation. When my realtor tried to communicate with Victor Construction themselves, they were ignored and I was called because I had less experience dealing with these types of issues.
