I was originally quoted 4 hours at $110/hour. I thought that was a pretty conservative estimate and in my mind planned for 6 hours. On the day of the move the team said they were going to call in a third person to assure the move went more swiftly. I recognize that this was not an easy move since I have antique furniture and was moving into a second floor apartment. They did have a supervisor come and check the team and their work. He also showed them more efficient ways to wrap furniture. In the end, it cost $1470 for 8 hours of labor which was more than twice what I anticipated. It was over 3 times the original estimate. As far as the work I am very satisfied. The movers were very professional and took great care of all of my household goods including the antique furniture. They were very careful and made sure that all furniture was placed exactly where I wanted. I would recommend this company but if you are tied to a certain budget, be sure to confirm the estimate and potential variance before the project begins. read more

1 Star - $1,110 for Delays, Damage, and Zero Accountability I rarely leave negative reviews, but after giving this company multiple chances to make things right, I feel obligated to share my experience. I paid $1,110 for a local move, and it was one of the worst customer service experiences I've ever had. The problems started before the move even began. I booked my move for 9:00 AM, but there was confusion about the scheduled date. I actually had to text the company to remind them that my move was scheduled for the following day because they appeared to have the wrong date. Then, on the actual moving day, I received a text at 8:53 AM saying they were on the way, but they didn't ask me to meet them until around 9:40 AM. If I book a 9:00 AM move, I expect the crew to be ready to start at 9:00 AM. Once the move started, things didn't get any better. I clearly explained what needed to be moved and what needed to stay. My boxes were labeled, and I walked the crew through which rooms needed to be emptied. Despite that, I repeatedly had to point out items they were leaving behind. They were even going to leave furniture in my children's room after being told everything in the room needed to go. The move took over six hours despite the fact that I did not have a large amount of furniture or belongings. Throughout the day there were periods where nothing was being moved, and I would look outside and see crew members on their phones. When unloading, boxes were placed in random rooms despite being clearly labeled. My indoor rugs were left outside on the patio. Boxes were left scattered throughout my garage until I asked that they be stacked properly so I could actually park my car. As the crew was preparing to leave, I discovered they had left my sound bar sitting on the garage floor. The most frustrating issue was the damage to my apartment. While moving my desk, the crew scratched my floor. When I pointed it out, I was immediately told the damage was already there. It wasn't. Before moving in, I completed a walkthrough with apartment management and documented the condition of the apartment. I know exactly what damage existed beforehand and what occurred during the move. What made the situation worse was feeling completely dismissed. Instead of taking responsibility, I was repeatedly told things I witnessed happening either didn't happen or weren't their fault. Standing there while three men denied damage I watched occur in real time was incredibly frustrating and unprofessional. The next day, one of the movers called me and informed me they had left two boards from my son's bunk bed on the truck. Apparently, the plan was to simply drop them off. The problem was that Johnny, who appeared to be supervising the crew, had already spent more than two hours assembling the bunk bed incorrectly. Not only was it missing pieces, but it was put together wrong. There was no indication they intended to return and fix their work. After I contacted the office, Sam sent another employee named Jeff to my apartment. Jeff was professional, apologetic, and honestly the only bright spot in this entire experience. He immediately confirmed that the bunk bed had been assembled incorrectly, fixed it properly, and took photos of the damage. Jeff also told me he was surprised a crew of three took over six hours to complete my move and stated that, based on the amount of belongings I had, a crew of two could have completed it in roughly four hours. Hearing that from another employee confirmed what I had already suspected throughout the day. One of the original movers later texted me and said, "Every mess up was my fault. I'll make sure to fix it." That acknowledgment alone tells me I wasn't imagining the issues I experienced. Unfortunately, despite all of this, the company never made a meaningful effort to resolve the situation. After Jeff fixed the bed, I called the office three separate times to discuss the damages, the excessive time spent on the move, and possible compensation or resolution. I received no meaningful follow-up, no accountability, and no attempt to make things right. Mistakes happen. What separates a good company from a bad company is how they handle those mistakes. In my case, the response was denial, excuses, and silence. For $1,110, I expected professionalism, communication, efficiency, and accountability. Instead, I was left with damages, unfinished work, wasted time, and a company that stopped responding once they had my money. We were quoted a fair price compared to competitors and it was all inclusive (unlike other companies who have hidden costs that you find out about in the end). Very fast communication before our move, they answered questions quickly. We were told that two movers would be sent but requested four feeling that would be better. Two were sent moving day and after 13 hours they were 3/5th of the way done. Not the fellas fault, they were great, treated our items with respect and our home too. They worked hard and fast, it was just too much for two guys. (They were great with kids too, the kids wanted the guys to hang out at the house afterwards!) I contacted the owner and he made it right. The three stars are for the inconvenience of scheduling less movers then what was needed and the communication went away after I talked with the owner about the mishap. We requested a two person team from Castle Labor, the very next day I was able to get Jeff and Talon.... Where do I start? Well first of all, as soon as they arrived (which was 30 mins early, don't worry they called and asked if they could!) our entire buildings power went out. I was feeling pretty defeated at that moment, but both Jeff and Talon brushed it aside and said no problem and lugged our heavy items down the stairs instead of using the elevator! We've used them 3 times now for moving services and overall it's been good experiences. The first time they were really fast, but they did chip a corner of my wall. They brought it to our attention and seemed mindful of the hourly rate to not go over time. The 2nd time my boyfriend used them and said it went well overall. I don't think he gave a great tip, because the 3rd time it was the same guys he had before and they were really slow, so think it ended up costing an hour more than it should have and overall the hours worked were less clear. I would probably still use them again, as overall we haven't had any major issues with their service, the guys are always really kind & professional, and they show up relatively on time. read more

What a joke. Damaged my $3,000 couch and I got ghosted for any type of insurance claim. They also showed up 1.5 hours late from our original scheduled time. It's pretty funny they're using photos of my family's home as a highlight on their Yelp page, but won't even respond to me about the damage. The movers were nice, but damaging my couch and not saying anything upon delivery is ridiculous. Definitely was noticeable if you pick it up and see a metal piece RIPPED OFF. We even tipped them $40 and paid for more hours than promised, even after being told they "could knock it out in 2 hours for sure." Definitely would not recommend. read more

Edited to add: I'm aware of the condition of some of our items due to one of our dogs having epilepsy and health issues - i'm referring to the awful way our things were packed in the truck AND in the garage at our new house. Some items are scraped and broken when they weren't before the move. It was agreed upon that some items would be left behind but the movers kept asking if they were done and were repeatedly told no that there was more furniture. The packing of the truck was not agreed upon. And yes they were tipped because we still respect the fact that a job was done - even if it was a bad one. Will never use this company again. Paid almost 800 dollars for them to "get lost" between our two houses (we moved 3 streets away), barely packed the truck forcing multiple trips (that they added charges on for since the time had to be extended. also due to them "getting lost". Didn't move anything upstairs like they claimed they do, didn't have any packing items like their quote stated they would have (didn't really need any but they didn't even use boxes we had to move our TV's) Stated that they move large items but forgot to add the extra $150 dollar fee to do so. Ultimately extremely unhappy and will not recommend them or use them again. read more

No pest control was, nor *is* needed as there was no infestation of any of the various pests they publicly used as an excuse for their failure to do the job they were paid to do. My prior review detailed this well. The owner's subsequent response was not nearly as nasty as the one he left on my now deleted review but still perpetuates this false accusation. If there was truly an "infestation", they would not have packed and transported the small load they *did* move. I would be more than happy to recommend some amazing books and classes on how to behave in business. Blaming your customers for your failings, no matter how eloquently you attempt to make it, still demonstrates an attitude that even when they are wrong, they're not wrong. I hired them because they had decent reviews but reality is I should have known better than to hire an hourly bid moving crew when I couldn't be there in person. The experience had me asking why on earth does it take 6 hours to move a lightly furnished 1br with a freight elevator with no personal belongings to a storage unit 3 blocks away. It's because I wasn't there to watch them. I give them 2 stars instead of 1 bc I've moved enough times that i blame myself for not taking other fixed price bids or at least had someone check in on them. And also because after I complained all I got were silly excuses that I was unreachable (not true I was texting with them) and that they couldn't find my storage unit or I wasn't around to sign paperwork (very very strange excuses). Or saying bc they had to park across the front entrance which may have been a slight inconvenience to roll stuff a few more yards away. I've moved from a 4 story walk up in manhattan to a 1st floor apartment in NJ with double the items in the same amount of time. Funny that all these excuses came up after I complained to them when during the whole move the movers said things were going fine never alerted to me any issues or problems.
