I initially contacted another moving company for an interstate move from San Diego to Las Vegas. The bid came in very high, and I was told by that company that there were "additional fees" for interstate moves, making the price much higher than expected. Then, just 3 days before my scheduled move, that company called and tried to more than double the price!  leaving me in a total panic. I reached out to 5 STAR Moving Company, and the owner, Craig , responded immediately. He was furious when I told him my story. He calmed me down right away with his happy demeanor and reassuring words that they would take care of the move at a fraction of the quoted price. All was true. Not only did they accommodate me on such short notice, but they were also transparent, professional, and fair with their pricing--no surprise fees! The one star is for the owner. Be careful with the owner, Craig. If you notice in all his responses in the reviews where customers had issues, he is quick to make up excuses and not own up to anything. We stated communication was not very good and he responded with a bunch of lies. He never confirmed a time and it was not written on the invoice like he claims it was. He did not respond to text messages and calls and when he finally did said he had fallen asleep. This was after 5pm the day before the scheduled move. Arrival times should have been confirmed well before then. Good management owns up to their mistakes and wants to do better. The only time he was quick to respond was to collect payment. I was sure to let our realtor know he should not be recommending this company. Good management welcomes all feedback and does not excuse their wrongdoing. Your responses are rude and dismissive. "Alright, so moving day... usually a headache, right? But Five Star Moving made the chaos of moving a walk in the park. These guys handled it like pros. They were on time, efficient, and didn't bat an eye when i asked them to move chairs to one location, only to ask them to move them back 5 minutes later. Disappointing Experience When only two movers arrived instead of the three I was promised, I was told the third person was getting gas and would arrive shortly. Later, one of the movers admitted they had not been able to reach the third individual at all. I would have appreciated the truth from the start. Simply being honest and telling me they were working on finding someone else due to an issue would have gone a long way. The false reassurance just added to the frustration and set the tone for the rest of the experience. While the team did arrive on time, the missing third mover created an immediate delay. I had been quoted $185 for three movers, but was told the rate would be "discounted" to $145 due to being short-staffed. However, because only two movers handled the majority of the job, the move took much longer than expected. Near the end of the move, a third mover finally arrived for the last hour and a half, which only reinforced how much more efficient the process could have been if all three had been present from the beginning. I was charged the full $185 rate for the final hours once the third person showed up, which was understandable. There was also an issue with a safe I had upstairs. I had clearly communicated with the owner, Craig, about this item beforehand, and he even sent me a message acknowledging an additional $150 fee for moving an overweight safe. However, the movers were not made aware of it. When they moved the safe downstairs, it damaged my flooring upon impact. While I wasn't overly upset because Craig did send a handyman the very next day to repair the damage, I was frustrated when he later claimed I had never mentioned the safe. Fortunately, I had the text message that confirmed our conversation. Without that, I could have been blamed for the oversight. This experience reminded me how important it is to follow up phone calls with an email to create a paper trail of what was discussed. To be clear, the movers themselves were not the problem. In fact, they were hardworking individuals who asked questions to clarify instructions and did their best under the circumstances. My main issue lies with how my concerns were handled. While a positive is that Craig, the owner, responds quickly to messages, the tone of those messages became increasingly judgmental, gaslighty, and uncomfortable. For example, I was made to feel criticized for asking to have my belongings placed inside my home rather than in the garage, even though my garage floor was drying after being epoxied and the situation had been explained to the movers. My home is a single-story property with double doors, so the request to put my items inside my home instead of the garage was not unreasonable. Regardless, a customer's preference for where their belongings go should be respected without commentary. The movers were polite and professional in person, but they seemed unaware of how easily voices carry in an empty house. I overheard remarks that I found unprofessional. When I brought this to Craig's attention, he dismissed it as harmless joking and emphasized the team's strong work ethic and loyalty. While I do not doubt their work ethic, dismissing a customer's concern without acknowledging the impact is not an appropriate response. While the job ultimately got done, the overall experience was disappointing. The lack of transparency, inconsistent communication, and defensiveness in response to feedback made what should have been a smooth move unnecessarily stressful. I've shared my experience with the realtor who referred them so she can make more informed recommendations going forward. Had a last minute need for a move from Northern California to Las Vegas, due to quick move in request from buyers of our home. Got a referral from my agent in Las Vegas for Craig at Five Star. After a quick phone call to describe my needs, Craig gave me a very reasonable quote, assured me that we would not be charged any amount over that no matter the circumstance, and was able to accommodate my tight time frame. The driver Jacob contacted me shortly after that, and was in regular communication with me starting from the night before they arrived. Jacob and Delvon got to our house right on time, and didn't waste any time getting to work. They divided and conquered the items in the house, and in a couple hours had everything wrapped up, disassembled where necessary, and ready to go. Both guys were super polite, respectful and friendly -- hard working and efficient. Delvon mentioned he's been a mover for 15 years and "loved to help people" which made a big impression on me. When it comes to moving your personal items, you want to feel assured of who you are entrusting your things to. After our experience with Five Star, not only were they reasonably priced, but they definitely left us with a positive vibe, and didn't leave us feeling uncertain. Thieves!!! Negative 100 stars I hired 2 movers to move my dead parents things from one state to Vegas. Cost me $5000 to do this. The minute the two movers arrived I got bad vibes. Should have listened to my gut instincts but I had just lost my dad, was packing up my childhood home and was so sick from Covid. They came referred from a realtor. Biggest mistake I made was to hire them. For starters the movers were Jacob and Devon. Jacob proceeded to tell me that they packed up and moved Ushers belongings and they were taking pictures with his things. So watch out for that if you hire them to do this. Second. I gave him a glass of water to be nice and instead of handing it back to me he stuck in in the cab of his truck. Sticky fingers. Devon asked if he could have things that were laying on the ground in the house that I was still cleaning out. Very unprofessional! After packing up a house with collectibles, heirlooms and tons of tools the truck they had could barely fit everything even though I told Craig I had a house with 50 years of things in it. I had to leave certain things much to my dismay. Of that truck, 75% went into storage and the other 25% to my house but mostly things like furniture. I KNOW what was in my parents house because I grew up in it seeing it for nearly 30-40 years. Sick or not that is all long term memory stuff. You don't forget what you saw for that entire time. That truck was jammed pack from top to bottom. My neighbor even asked me if we were going to get everything in. I put a lock on the truck and Jacob, who still works for him, was so adamant about having the key. You know that gut feeling you get when something feels wrong? Well this was the moment. He said they needed it for safety. More like stealing. They drove to Vegas and had the truck for a few days before I flew back out to Vegas. I had a 10x20 sized unit. They put stuff in the rental unit then my house. But in the rental unit they very strategically placed two armoires right in the front, so it made it look full. Things were not packed all the way to the top with boxes like in the truck. Not many boxes came home with me because I did not have the room. Fast forward a few years and I decided to turn a few bedrooms into storage rooms to start pulling things out of the rental unit and bring them home to go through. The rest went into a smaller 10x10 unit. As I started to look behind the armoires there were barely any boxes there. I KNEW they took them. The big gut punch for me was a large plastic box I put my dads tools in. Tools that he had for over 40 years, some new some old stuff. But MINE not theirs. That box was NOT in there!! That is when I knew. They also took a dolly, and sawhorses. I have tons of family and neighbors who can vouge for me that the stuff existed. That entire box of tools is GONE!! They stole it too. My dad didnt have much stuff but he had tools, now I dont have those from him. I just went through the rest of my stuff every single box. I am missing so much! Toys, like Star Wars, things my dead brother had. GONE. I am missing entire collections my mother had. I know because my mother was a collector and like I said family can even verify this all existed. When I brought this to Craigs attention all he did first was deny I hired him. The bill I paid you for $5000 says otherwise! He tried gaslighting me saying that I don't remember, or that someone broke into my unit. Yea, ok they specifically moved the armories and took boxes of random things. Sure ok. I really struggled to write this review because I wasn't sure of everything missing yet but now, I know. He wants to pin everything on Devon but Jacob was there too and he was the one so adamant about the key and he still works for him. God knows what they did. They are thieves!! Be careful if you are a celebrity they will take pictures with your things they can share with their friends. If you are going long distance count your boxes, take photos because if they can, they will probably steal them. The worst part of this, is as time goes on I will keep remembering "Oh yea Mom had one of those or Dad had that tool. Oh but I don't have it anymore! Someone stole it" and each time I have to relive the grief all over again. I cannot say Craig had anything to do with this but my stuff was taken under the watch of this company and Jacob still works for him. SOMEONE stole my things. Craig offered to pay for the tools but when I gave him the amount I was told to just claim it on insurance. But its not just the tools, its heirlooms and memories and history. All gone. We were recommended to try Five Star Moving by a friend. Three courteous movers arrived almost on time (15 mins later than schedule but that's ok) and meticulously inspected each room before starting. Given the volume of our belongings, the entire process lasted about 11 hours. We emphasize the fragility of certain items and reminded the movers to be cautious, especially around our staircase where we requested they avoid putting pressure or stepping directly on the nose of the stairs. Additionally, we alerted them to be careful with our plants. Unfortunately, the nose of the stairs broke from one of the movers and top of our plants were damage due to the heat and length of time in their truck. The one-star review pertains to the handling of their phone lines, customer service, and the owner's decision to allow such a disappointing response to to our request and claim. TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE AND RESPONSE. I've observed many positive reviews due to the absence of damage, but unfortunately, when an issue arises, it doesn't seem to be handled in a professional manner. I hired 5 star movers to move my stuff from two places. My storage facility first and then hop over to my condo to grab the rest of the stuff and then head to the house I just bought. Originally, I scheduled this for this past Friday which was the day our city flooded. ‍ I called to reschedule for today, Monday, Labor Day and they accommodated me with no issues at the very last second. I have used this moving company twice. First time was back in 2017 and again a few months ago. I just came across the last receipt as I was shredding papers today and I realized I never left them a review. I have referred them to a friend even more recently than my last personal service and my friend was happy too... she said mostly for the price. For me it was all about the customer service, especially the gentleman that showed up to my house. I have really nice furniture and the way they were handling my things was as if it was their own. My husband especially appreciated how they taped blankets to our main doorway and stairs without us asking for it. This last time we used them was harder to book during the pandemic because it seems like almost everyone is moving and I totally get it. Being a fresh transplant from California and new to the area I wasn't sure which moving company to use. After reviewing Yelp, I found Five Star Moving. Score! Moving can be beyond stressful, now add in finding out the day you're supposed to move out of your old spot that you got approved for your new spot... and you have less than 24 hours to turn in your keys? Yeah, I said stressful - right? Lol. I called Five Star Moving the morning of my move-out, move-in day ...praying they would have availability to help move my stuff. I first called the number listed on the website. Then I went to the Yelp page to "request a quote" since I didn't get a call back right away. From there the owner, Craig was able to message me via Yelp about their services and availability. Within an hour we were able to secure arrangements that 3 guys were going to help with my move at a rate of $120/hour with a 3 hour minimum. $360 for 3 hours with 3 moving guys to help pack things and move things from place to place? Hell yeah! Just a note, you rent the u-haul yourself and five star movers help with the "heavy lifting." Our appointment was scheduled for 4pm, but because U-Haul had a mixup I was running 10 minutes late. Our moving guys were Jacob, Anthony and Dominic were cool with it,their timer started at 4p anyways. Our guys were super cool dudes who are quick and efficient! Our 1 bed/1 bath apartment took them a whopping 45 minutes to move into the U-Haul. When we arrived to our new spot, just about the same time of 45 minutes to unload everything! So quick! All we did was point out where we needed our things and there it went! The day after our move, Craig (The owner) did a courtesy follow up call to make sure everything went well with the move. 5 Star Moving was recommended by my real estate company, Aaron Taylor Realty. They contacted me right away and went over everything that I needed. I had specific time frame but I asked for them within a few days. They had an opening for Saturday at 8 AM which worked perfectly. I only needed them for some large items. Emails were timely and their company policies about what they can and can't move and how I should prepare were very clear. Jacob and Josh showed up right on time. I was supposed to have three guys, but the other was given the wrong address (grin). So Jacob said they would only charge me for two movers until the third showed up. Gabriel finally got there and only had to help move my couch. And they honored their word on the charges. After everything was loaded, onto my daughter's house which is where most of my things were going. Very fast unloading. Put things where we wanted. Nobody told me I needed to do anything else. I was never told I'd get an email. When I was contacted about it I replied within 15mins and was told everything was a go. Then the day of they flaked twice on the much earlier promised arrival and then sent 2 small guys instead of 3 big guys as the promised and send them after 7pm ‍. Our move was just this morning. The guys showed up on time; they were friendly and ready to move! We paid for 3 hours but they were in and out in 40 mins! They were super quick and professional, handled my furnitures with care, and assisted with moving anything we needed, even loose items (because it's a direct move upstairs--no transport needed--they didn't mind that things weren't boxed or bagged up). We hired a team of three movers from Five Star Moving to help move us out of our condo and into our new home. John, Steven, and Thomas were great right from the start. They arrived on time and got right to work. The three were very professional from start to finish. When they arrived, they assessed what needed to be moved and talked through the plan on how they were going to move things. At the end of moving everything out of the condo, they made sure to double check everything had been moved to our liking before we went to the next location to unload. The condo we were in had a couple of very tight spaces and corners, but the team navigated those areas extremely well and did not cause any damage to the furniture or walls. John, Steven, and Thomas had plenty of useful materials with them, especially padding. Although we had padding with the U-Haul truck we were using, the additional padding they had really helped. It especially helped with some of the larger furniture and a glass table top for the dining room table. One of the best things about John, Steven, and Thomas was their efficiency. The guys were in and out in the three hours we had booked them for. Boy, did it save my wife and I a ton of time.
