Prior to that it was a school cafeteria which had the same problem. The Mandeville City Hall is not only well organized as a precinct, but if you do have to wait it is surrounded by gardens which make your wait a bit more pleasant. The commissioners are very friendly and personable. they are also very good with kids and will help keep them entertained while you cast your ballot. I actually don't live in the incorporated city, so I can't comment on their government practices, but as the place I vote, this place is great.

Before heading into our tour of The Oaks in March 2023, we had an idea of wanting our wedding to be at The Oaks, but after our tour, we were dead set on having our wedding at The Oaks! The biggest selling point, aside from the beautiful oaks and outdoor set up, was all of the amenities The Oaks offered. We did not have to worry about finding a catering company, a decorator, or a day of coordinator. For the few vendors we did have to find, The Oaks provided us with a list of vendors, which helped us so much! Fast forward almost a year to the food tasting at The Oaks in January 2024. We loved being able to purchase tickets for our parents to join us. All of the food was amazing and narrowing down a menu was a little hard, but that was a good "problem" to have! In March 2024, we had our 30 day out meeting to finalize our plans. At first I was a bit overwhelmed with all of the decisions needed to be made, but Hannah was very helpful. We also had put our trust into The Oaks, so I felt they would not steer us in the wrong direction. Finally, wedding day! Again, what I felt as a perk was The Oaks providing decorations. It was one less thing we had to worry about, and the decorations were beautiful! Our day of coordinator, Caleb, and his trainee, Dominique, were amazing!! They were there every step of the way and made sure our day was beyond perfect! We cannot thank Caleb and Dominique enough for all they did for us, especially Caleb helping me bustle my dress! Now the food!! Wow, the food was better than when we did the food tasting! I also loved how The Oaks set up a table upstairs for my husband and I to eat after the ceremony before being announced into the reception. We still talk about how good the red beans and rice were! Brides, if you want to make an entrance into your reception, The Oaks is the place to do it with their beautiful staircase!! The flow of our reception went great (thank you Caleb and Dominique). Our DJ, Rusty, was amazing and even threw in a surprise for us, which everyone loved! A lot of words for me to say, in my opinion, The Oaks is hands down the best wedding venue on the Northshore! If we could rate them 10 stars, we would!!

For a super-low-price hotel, this place is not bad. I stayed here for one night in Feb. 2020…read moreduring Mardi Gras, and my friends stayed in another room at the Olivia for 3 nights. Normally I stay in Super 8 motels or Hampton Inns, costing $75 to $120 per night. But on this trip, our group wanted cheaper accommodations. We paid about $55 for a room with one bed, and $65 for a room with 2 beds. We slept well and we felt the place was okay. No free breakfast, but Waffle House is across the street and other restaurants and convenience stores are adjacent. This hotel does not attract a classy crowd or an upscale clientele. But we did not feel scared or threatened, and for us, it worked, and it served its purpose. Staff is friendly and helpful. Unfortunately you need their help just to unlock the 2nd lock on the door to the room, upon first arrival. My room smelled like cigarette smoke when I arrived, but I opened the window and later, there was no noticeable odor. I would not stay here again in the future, unless I was with these same friends again, needing a cheaper place to stay.

This place has incredibly beautiful grounds, especially with the lights lit up at night, and the house has a cool retro vibe. The cottage and the room above the barn are extra cute! The staff was wonderful, and everything was done to perfection! From the house to the parking and set-up... everything went smooth. There were about 200 guests and there was enough room for everyone to spread out so that we didn't feel crowded. The house and the grounds were clean and comfortable. We also had the opportunity to spend the night, and we absolutely loved it! The owners thought of everything! I highly recommend this venue for your special event! You won't be disappointed!
