This was not the first project that Art Castillo gave me a bid on. Another company undercut his bid on the earlier one, and I went with them, to my regret. Art had impressed me, and still does, as the most trustworthy and professional of anyone I've met in this business. When the other company failed to follow through on some commitments they made, I knew I had made a mistake in not going with Art. So this time, for a gas furnace replacement, I knew who to choose. Art, the owner of the business, discussed my choices in depth and gave me a fair quote on the one I chose. It was a Trane furnace, and Art is one of the few authorized, top-rated Trane dealers in the Menifee-Lake Elsinore area. I did not even bother to get a second or third quote, because that was what landed me in the ditch last time. I would normally recommend getting multiple quotes, but instead of putting too much stock in getting the "best deal" strictly from a monetary standpoint, make sure you have confidence in the person you're dealing with. When you're spending thousands of dollars on a piece of equipment that should last 20 or more years, you want to be sure you can trust not only the equipment, but the relationship you're forming with the people who sell, install, back, and service the equipment! The Castillo team showed up within minutes of the appointed time (8 a.m.), and completed the installation and testing early (by 11:30 a.m.). I couldn't be more pleased with the result. The furnace runs quiet, and I'm confident it will be a money-saver when late autumn comes and the temperatures drop where I live (Hemet CA). My last experience with Castillo Heating and Air was very displeasing. I had them visit a rental property I own and provide an estimate for a repair. They provided a written Estimate which they required me to sign before they could start the job, I reviewed it and signed it. They scheduled a date to complete the job which I communicated to my tenants. They day of the job I got a call from them telling me the estimate they provided and had agreed to was incorrect and they could not honor the Estimate. Now I am stuck with a very unhappy tenant in this very hot season and looking for another company to complete the job they had agreed to do. This is just a very poor performance on their part, not honoring their written agreements. I would not recommend doing business with a company that does not stand behind their contracts to anyone. read more

The install done at my mom's house was abjectly horrid. As a result of their work, the drain pain overflowed and caused significant water damage to my mom's house. This was a result of the condensate lines not being installed properly. The inspector provided a list of corrections that amounted to fully removing and reinstalling the HVAC unit. Art came out multiple times and has refused to fix all the deficiencies. Art then agreed to remove the unit and offered my mom a refund, however, he missed two different appointments and has stopped returning calls. It's been 5 months and they still have not made it right. read more

Unprofessional for many reasons. I called to see if they would help with assisting having my car fixed as one of their vehicles had something fly off and hit me on the 15 north the other day. This does not have to do HVAC services this has to do with community services. I provided pictures and was very nice and trying to deal with this without having to involve insurance. They basically said unless I had a picture of "what" hit me that they cannot determine what hit me and we're not willing to help in any way. Even half of the damages would have been a nice gesture. Highly Recommended! Castillo fit us into their busy schedule and Hugo came out within hours to repair my 90 year old Mom's AC unit. He even thought to bring along a portable AC unit we could have borrowed in case he did not have all the parts with him that were required to fix it. Management, I have called 4 times and 3 times been told you're too busy to accept my call. I have left 3 messages for you to return my call about the service you provided over one month ago (April 16, 2018) in which your employee claimed that we had bad wiring, causing our AC to not work. We declined service and looked into it ourselves. The wire was fine, and we replaced the thermostat that day. Called you immediately and you have refused to return our calls. We saved over $400 that you quoted us by buying a $54 thermostat and $17 wiring, just to be safe. I can accept a misdiagnosis, but the fact that you don't care enough to return multiple calls is a problem. I will not work with a business or business person who will not own up to their mistakes and at the very least simply call me to say that you don't find it to be your problem. I would like my full money back for having to go through hoops for 1 1/2 months to no avail. I will call again tomorrow 5/31/2018 and report you to the BBB if you continue declining my call. Hugo called to let me know he could arrive earlier than the promised 2-hour arrival window. He arrived when he said he would. He was very professional and inspected my air conditioning unit, called the manufacture to determine if unit was under any warranty and explained in detail what this company would be proposing for replacing the unit. We recently purchased a bank-owned home and wanted to ensure there were no issues with the HVAC system before our warranty expired with AHS. Via YELP, we identified Castillo HVAC with five stars so called them for service. I spoke to Brenda who was very professional and thorough; she scheduled an appointment for the next day, and identified the employee that would meet me at my residence as Hugo. Hugo arrived on time, and was very personable and knowledgeable as he explained everything that he did with detail. They didn't properly examine the house to diagnose the problem correctly. I paid to replace the A.C. unit. $6,000... Parts of the home were still hot. Come to find out the real problem was in the ventilation. They now wanted to charge $1,800 for that. I don't think so, I'm not going to give them more money after up-selling me and not actually fixing the problem. The problem should have been fixed a year ago and saved me $4,000 if it was done right. read more

I called Castillo Heating and Air Conditioning after the original installer gave up on fixing an extremely loud (107 decibels - the equivalent to a chainsaw at 6') intermittent noise problem with a new Trane heater installed in a closet between two bedrooms. I had been dealing with the original installer for months listening to his excuses and not showing up for scheduled appointments. Nate with Castillo, came out the same day I called and was on time. He actually disassembled part of the unit to inspect it but was unable to find the problem. He assured me he would follow up and he came out the next day and repaired the problem at no extra charge beyond the original reasonable $75 service charge. It's great to deal with a company that has integrity, expertise and professionalism. What more could one ask? read more

My AC was acting up and they came out and told me I needed a new blower and didn't even check nothing else to see what else the problem could be. Took my diagnostic money and left. They said someone would call to give me a price. No one even called. A week later I get an invoice in the mail that had my estimated work order on it which was $730 to replace a blower motor. Are you serious! Called around to get a price myself and got a brand new one for $160 with a new capacitor. My husband installed it on his own which took less than 30 minutes. Blower works perfectly now but that wasn't even the problem it was the circuit board that they didn't even bother to check. I can't believe a company is going to over charge a customer that much. I know they have to make money to stay in business but that's not how your going to gain my business by ripping me off. Please do your homework! read more

Castillo Air came out to my house and quoted over $500 to replace the capacitor. I decided to get another quote from another company. When the second guy came out to do the quote, I found out the technician from Castillo air had taken the fuses. I couldn't believe it. When I called Castillo air they stated that they took the fuses so the unit could not be turned on. Leaving the fuses and turning them upside down would've accomplished the same goal. I hired the second technician from a different company and had to incur the cost of new fuses as well as a capacitor. The second technician also replaced the contactor. The second technician charged $250. In my opinion, Castillo air is dishonest and I will never have them out for anything again. Beware of this company. read more

I try to use Yelp as often as I can for food and other businesses, but this was the first time I used it for my ac. We got a couple of estimates from other companies, but none wanted to deal with a home warranty. These guys had the best offer and Art worked with me to get our ac compressor replaced through our home's warranty. Great service. Hugo was sent to our house to check our a/c 6/26/15. He came a day early, as we were on our way out to a hotel. He said he came because the office had told him about my mother in law who lives with us and was not going to do well in the heat. Fixed the a/c on the spot! Weekend saved and no hotel bill! I can't say enough good things about these guys, we called them when our ac went out during an insane heat wave a couple months back. Despite the 106 degree temperature, they were at our home for a free estimate in two hours. The technician was awesome and fixed the problem with a part he had in his truck. He was super honest,.
