My wife and I love this dojo for our 4-year-old. It's fantastic exercise but Mr. DiPietro, Mr…read more White and the other staff command and receive respect, attention and focus; even with the young group. This respect, attention and focus is never achieved with yelling, or any type of negative energy but rather, through presence, confidence, and knowledge. Contrary to many people's ideas of Karate; it's about focus, discipline, agility, and building confidence. It's not about hitting or hurting others. The dojo is clean and they've just invested in new carpeting as well as paint. We recently held my son's birthday party at East Coast Karate Institute and two of my son's school classmates are now enrolled with the parents quite pleased with the classes. There's a very affordable trial period of roughly a month and if you're at all curious about Karate for your kid(s) or yourself, the trial period is an easy way to try it out without making an immediate financial and time commitment. I absolutely recommend East Coast Karate Institute in Newtown Square.

It really is impressive to watch the seamless switch between handling different age groups. Each class feels really appropriate for the student's level. The studio is comfortable, the environment is friendly, and our kids really do learn a lot of valuable life skills beyond hitting an opponent. There has been a huge confidence and positive attitude boost from all 3 of our kids attending classes as compared to when they first started (some needed it more). I have seen progressive improvements in other students as well. I do wish I would have had the chance to meet Master Marvil. His legacy feels like it lives on here, even though I have only seen pictures and heard stories. We will never force our kids to continue studying martial arts. They do have the choice of other activities in it's place, but all 3 continue to stay and advance through the belt levels here and hope to do so for the years to come. One day, I may have to start attending classes myself. Although, I did always want to attend a rival school so I can face my children in a competition cobra kai style, but I'll hold for now.

You will learn and grow and improve, and you will find that you want to! There are a number of young blackbelts for kids to look up to, plus the adult staff. They've clearly earned what they have, and continue to improve.
