We choose to avoid all hotels during COVID and needed a pet friendly accommodation. Melinda informed me only the lower units were available for small pets, we took the San Nicolas. Even though I would've preferred an ocean view deck, the truth is the ocean is only one block away. The modest interior decor, fully equipped kitchen, patio views and spacious rooms created just the right vacation/residential experience we had hoped for. I imagine the fact that the Villa Elegante only caters to weekly and monthly contributes greatly to the good condition of the furnishings. The overall cleanliness more than met our expectations. It's a little strange to me more reviews aren't posted for this company since we found all aspects of our experience were very positive. Maybe the Canadians are not big Yelpers? The location was just a block from the beach and close to a few necessities and even lovely restaurants. The place we rented was the "Santa Rosa" and it was spacious, so clean, great accommodations. Everything was well updated and kept up. We loved the 2 car private garage. Helped with moving my daughter out of her apartment! I do wish they had a pool, but again the beach was just a block or two away. We loved staying at Villa Elegante and definitely plan to stay here again! Thank you Melinda!

My husband used a third-party to book this site like we usually do and have never had trouble. We arrived in Montecito a little early decided to get some lunch at the honor bar, which was excellent, and then check in. We ended up arriving exactly at 4 o'clock to check in and my husband was informed that because we booked it through a third-party site we would have to pay the tourism fee or something like that for $47 additional bringing the hotel room up to $400. And then we would also have to put a $200 hold on our card for incidentals, but the way it was handled was not necessarily unprofessional, but it was uncomfortable. We got everything worked out and started to head to our room on the second floor. The stairs are a little bit steep in rise probably because they are old. The hotel was built in the 20s I believe by Charlie Chaplin, which you wouldn't know about unless you did your own research. I didn't notice anything in the rooms or downstairs letting us know that. And that's actually something that I would have enjoyed seeing on the walls in the hotel rooms, some portraits of Charlie Chaplin maybe some movie stills? We decided to use the elevator which I think is original to the building of course with some safety upgrades. The room was somewhat small, reminding me of rooms in Italy. And it smelled really musty. Which I'm sure is normal for a building of that age. The hotel did not appear to be booked and so I was disappointed with the room that we received (see our photo of our view.) The bathroom was a tiny with a minuscule bookcase to place your items on. Again, I'm sure there is nothing they can do anything about because of the age of the building, I could not get the shower to fully work. The water came out halfway through the showerhead and halfway through the faucet. The water is very soft so it took forever to rinse my hair. Valet parking is included whether you want it or not. And there are five self parking spots. There are bicycles that I believe you can check out. I'm not sure if there's a fee for them. It seemed like they were offered for free, but I'm not really sure.

Check-in was quick and easy, and they immediately gave my dog Lobo a treat, which obviously won them points right away. They offer dog bowls and beds, and we ended up using the bed, which Lobo approved of, so that says everything. The hotel itself is super clean, updated, and just really beautifully decorated without feeling over the top. It felt comfortable but still a little elevated, if that makes sense. At checkout, Alex and Christine were at the front desk and came over to give Lobo some birthday love (yes... we were celebrating his 12th ), which was such a sweet touch. Every single employee we interacted with, from valet to housekeeping, was genuinely friendly and welcoming. They do offer valet, and the gated parking at night made me feel really safe leaving my car there, which I appreciated. We'd absolutely stay here again--no question.

I stayed here for my birthday and accidentally left a small bag behind in the room upon checkout…read more Inside an inner zippered pocket was a $1,300 gold necklace I had purchased in Peru. As soon as I got home, I realized I had left the bag and called the hotel immediately. They agreed to return it once I provided a prepaid FedEx shipping label. When the package arrived, the bag was there, but the necklace had been removed from the zippered pocket. It was completely secure inside, so there is zero chance it simply slipped out. When I called to speak with management, the manager became immediately defensive and dismissed my concern, stating he fully trusted his staff. Even so, basic loss prevention and handling protocols clearly failed. I subsequently emailed corporate claims regarding the incident, but my message was completely ignored. Looking at TripAdvisor and Yelp, other guests report similar experiences with missing items, only to be met with the same dismissive attitude from the general manager. Proceed with caution if you stay here.

She drinks at the bar after AND during hours and doesn't seem to know at all what she's doing one of the most passive aggressive people I've met when we asked for a breakdown of the cafe an overall amenities she was extremely unprofessional with her words it seemed like she was new. And I hear her in the back talking on the phone and being rude to the other front desk employees. Me an my friend travel a lot and have stayed at another pallihouse loaction this must be the worst out of all of them and for this reason alone I will be staying at a different hotel that's not overpriced in Santa Barbara from now on but will be back at the other pallihouse locations when I travel.

All rooms are outside entrance and no lift to take up luggage (so you have to take your own bags up the stairs to your room). Our room was also not cleaned properly. We had long black hairs on a very dirty bathroom floor and found a band aid on the carpet when we walked in. Housekeeping is gone after 3:00 - so had to clean the room myself.
