WHAT WE LIKE: THE BUFFET **The CHICKEN is the best; that & a SALAD from the salad buffet is my go-to buffet meal. **Hubby goes for the PIZZA, he loves it, and sometimes some of the "traditional buffet offerings" if he has room. **And the ICE CREAM...I don't know what is different about it, but they have the best vanilla ice cream anywhere; beats even Dairy Queen, which was founded on ice cream! SERVICE & ATMOSPHERE: **SERVICE is usually good, sometimes the tables don't get cleaned off right away if they're busy, but it's usually remedied quickly once you sit down. **CLEANLINESS is good (never use the restrooms so can't speak to those) **DECOR & AMBIANCE - The DECOR is...well, it's Pizza Ranch. The MUSIC, which has been a problem in the past being too loud, seems to have leveled off to reasonable. Would still be better without it, especially at noon when the place is already buzzing, but hasn't recently been so loud that it interferes with conversation. (What's wrong with just letting diners visit among themselves without background music competing?) WHAT WE DO NOT LIKE and the reason for docking one star: **The BUFFET HOURS at the Morris location are SHORT, and were recently shortened more, now only 2 1/2 hrs for both lunch and dinner buffets (but it's not REALLY 2 1/2 hrs.) If you get there like 15 mins before the buffet end-time, food items may be gone (chicken or pizza choices, veggie, lettuce or cottage cheese on the salad buffet, etc), and they won't bring out more for you. If you are still eating when that end-time rolls around, the food is taken away whether you are done eating or not. That makes those 2 1/2 hrs more like 2 hrs in reality. **The recent price increase seems questionable considering that the individual buffet price was already on par with other local and nearby eateries of its class. Add to that the shortened business and buffet hours, and a price increase didn't really jibe. ("LESS FOR MORE" seems to be the going business model now, so I guess the Ranch has just jumped into the fray.) I know prices have gone up in the current inflation, but do those price increases ever change in the other direction if the economy normalizes and their food costs go down? We all know the answer to that one. Normally, I would dock 2 stars for the reasons listed above since they both carry considerable weight in overall value. BUT, because Pizza Ranch remains our choice 9 out of 10 times when eating out in Morris (IF we can get there during buffet hours), I'm deducting only one star.
