The crust was totally different from the past. It used to be thin and crispy and the flour was noticeably high quality. The crust on the recent pie was thicker, pre fabricated and had a totally different texture. The sauce was different and the cheese not the same quality. It was just an average pizza. Absolutely nothing was the same. Carry out pizza is now expensive and for $30 for a large I'm going to be more selective.

I'll also speak up for the pappardelle bolognese prepared in a light tomato sauce. Consider the sides as well including the crispy brussel sprouts and/or the popcorn cauliflower for the table. I'll be back for the rest of the menu over time, but these get my personal thumbs up. The restaurant is right-sized for my preference with one big store-front room. Good sight lines to see who is in the house (if you care) and what they're eating and drinking. The kitchen is visible behind the bar but not so visible that you literally have to watch the sausage be made (they don't have sausage). On busy nights/weekends reservation recommended. Parking is free on-street and at a lot next door. It's a good meal, not inexpensive but priced for the quality of the food, preparation and service.

In other words, DeNucci's costs $10 more before you even add a side of pasta because it's exciting to eat there? Some diners may not mind paying the premium, but I find it hard to justify when Deerfield delivers outstanding food at a significantly lower price. I'm happy to pay for excellent food; I'm just not convinced the atmosphere and "vibe" is worth the markup.
