With a staff dressed in traditional Dutch outfits and fresh pastries filling an entire room, Jaarsma smells and looks about as close to bakery heaven as you can get. The sheer amount of pastries, breads, cookies, and treats is impressive. You can also grab various foods and sides, along with a great collection of Dutch products that won't disappoint. I arrived around midday, and some of the favorites were already gone or running low, which probably tells you everything you need to know. I was on a mission for the letter "S" pastries and the cream-filled bars, and they absolutely delivered. Since I had flown into Pella on a private plane, I also ordered some thank-you treats to bring home for a few supportive people in my life. Through our interactions, her questions, and how accommodating Tiffany was, the care and attention she provided made it clear she really wanted to do her part to make sure the event was wonderful. We live three hours away and were able to take care of all the details through phone/email/text. 2. As stated the end product was beautiful and exceeded expectations. We ordered vanilla, chocolate, and carrot cake cupcakes. There was a light dusting of cinnamon on the carrot cake frosting making it easy to tell them apart. The attention to detail was wonderful. 3. The actual taste of the cake and cupcakes was amazing. The flavor of each was distinct and delicious. The frosting was perfect, not too sweet. I have no idea how she did it, but the bride and groom wanted a marble cake and it was marbled. It looked like marble, not like traditional bakery marble cake. After tasting the cake, they both remarked "Ok that is a really good cake!" We stopped by the first night to pickup some coffee, a chocolate chip cookie treat, and a box of macrons to go. The shop is absolutely adorable from entrance to exit! Even before entering we loved the adorable building with perfect blue paint with white trim on the red brick. The building is well maintained and clean. While it is small, they keep the space streamlined and open. The baked good window, the sweet treats fridge, and coffee/tea areas are all distinct with their own personalities and delicious displays. On top of the clean and inviting space, prices were reasonable for such high quality products and staff were friendly and inviting. The line can sometimes be long, but it is worth the wait. Lots to love here! Back to the food, the chocolate chip cookie didn't make it far. We ate it right outside and loved every decadent bite. The cold brew was refreshing and tasty. We ate the macrons throughout the day and loved every bite! My favorites were the lemon and pistachio. My husband's favorites were the vanilla and birthday cake. The flavors were very prominent and delicious. Yum! Our final day, we wanted to try the breakfast! While I got ready at the Airbnb, my husband went to get the 2 Empanada Meal that comes with a fruit cup. We also got cold brew coffee and a Chipa. Everything was so scrumptious and fresh! The fruit cup was a perfect healthy pair to the baked goods. The empanadas were both great. We tried the "Egg, Sausage, & Cheddar" and "Egg White, Tomato, Basil, Spinach & Parmesan" empanadas. Both were great and we couldn't pick a favorite. We were glad we got both. The chipa was also so good...unlike anything we've had before. Per their website, it is a "Savory Cheese Biscuit made with tapioca flour, Cheddar cheese, & Parmesan cheese. Gluten Free." If you have never tried a Chipa, we would recommend it!
