It's been years since I've visited Casey Jones. I was in Jackson for a work trip and I brought the family along. We were excited to go. It was so nostalgic. I loved visiting the store with all of the cool souvenirs and other little trinkets. They also had lots of cool stuff for the kiddos and all of the old school candy for us. On to the food and service! Everything was just lovely. Our server was so amazing and would check on us often throughout our visit. Not only was she kind, but the hostess and the cashier that took our payments. The food was delicious. I had the fish, baked chicken, roast, and fried pork chops for my meats. All of them were seasoned to perfection. For my sides, I had the spinach casserole, greens, mac and cheese. I enjoyed my veggies (so did baby boy, lol). The sweat tea to top it off tasted homemade. The staff was incredibly friendly. The food was extremely good and quite plentiful. Fried chicken and catfish were my faves, but thw vegetables and beans ranked a close 2nd. The collards were tender and flavorful and the green beans were so good with pierces of bacon throughout. Will definitely be back. read more

We stopped at Casey Jones Old Country Buffet for breakfast during a college tour and arrived with a full bus of students. The staff was on time, organized, and ready for us, which made the stop smooth and stress-free.The food was fresh, hot, and well stocked, and the all-you-can-eat setup was perfect for a group of hungry kids. Many of them had never been before, and they really enjoyed the experience plenty of options and something for everyone. Service moved efficiently despite the large group, and the atmosphere was welcoming and family-friendly. If you're looking for a good place to grab some country cooking, look no further. We visited today as a party of 28 and they easily accommodated us. Our server was amazing and handled our large party with such grace. It is buffet style with a little of everything from fried livers, Mac and cheese, fried cornbread, fried fish, pintos, mashed taters etc... you name it they got it. Here you'll also find a museum and an old country store. Casey Jones is a staple in Jackson. If you're passing through the area and want something great to eat, stop in. When we first started coming here, we went to the buffet. Then someone told me because of my son's allergies they would not recommend the buffet. So we started going to the cafe in the same building. Somewhere along the way they decided to start adding butter or pork to everything even the vegetables. It was not this way at first, I know because when someone has an allergy you have to ask questions. Plus I just want a vegetable to be a vegetable. At least a couple of vegan options. So today, we walked out and went somewhere else. My son who absolutely loves trains and we've stopped here multiple times throughout the years will be finding a new go to spot. They are not vegan or vegetarian friendly. We enjoy a plant based diet that has alleviated other health concerns so our diet is important to us. read more

I am not going to lie, when my hubby said he wanted to stop here I had never heard of Casey Jones. When you start out in the museum they have a short movie that explains who he was. Then you walk through the museum, then outside to a train and Casey's house. You end up at the gift store with all kinds of merchandise for the little ones. I travel from Mississippi to Sikeston Missouri often to pick up my daughter and I happen to come across this place one time during our travels. And thank God I did because now I add it to my trip itinerary to stop by here when we pass through! The food be so good and soulful. I love their buffet style. This stop has everything! The food is amazing. Definitely enjoyed the breakfast buffet. Great customer service. The village is amazing. The shopping is great and then the Ice Cream Shop and candy barrels were a hit with the kids. The railroad museum was lots of fun and my boys enjoyed that. There are lots of ev charging stations as well! Make sure to allow time to walk outside around the whole village. Casey Jones gives me sweet memories of my childhood. We took a field trip to Casey Jones village, a little eclectic southern-styled eatery with shops, little museum, a gift shop and restaurant. I have since made it my business to go almost every time I have to drive to Jackson for work. The lunch buffet is reasonably priced and provides a good mix of meat and vegetables. I recently took my mother-in-law and son for breakfast. The breakfast was good. I had pancakes, two types of breakfast casserole, bacon and sausage. The coffee comes included. It was fresh, hot and tasty! The service was fast and the waitress checked on us regularly. I only give it four stars because there were no healthy choices that I saw. A selection of vegetables (I.e. omelette options) fruit, yogurt, oatmeal, etc. would have enhanced the breakfast experience. read more

Throw caution away if you want heart healthy but if you had one last meal and it only matters that your tastebuds will thank you and you go the Manna Cafe happy, then this is as good of a stop as you will find anywhere. Oh, never been to this place I know it's been in Jackson for many many years and I just never took the time to go here and get off work early in the morning and was looking for some good breakfast and this place was recommended to me recommended to me. It really reminds you of the breakfast places that you see now got a lot of old pictures and things inside the restaurant. The big buffet is only open Friday Saturday and Sunday. They had a small buffet not really a buffet, but they give you generous portions is open during the week, but it really really wasn't that good food. It was OK but there are lots of places that are better and there were a few people in there eating, but you know you would expect to see some tourists. There are lots of hotels around and you didn't, but it wasn't expensive. The people were very nice but I really would've expected better service. I arrived a few minutes after 10am (after looking at my receipt) and I got a plate with a tiny scoop of eggs, a small piece of ham and 1/2 slice of bacon from almost empty pans. My server came over and said, "Last call, better hurry and get what you want". I explained that I just arrived - he then told me I have 7 minutes to finish and went off about breakfast and lunch being different prices (after looking, they are both $14.99) and I can't "double dip". The cashier did not mention anything about the buffet not being continuous when I arrived and paid (apparently, quite strictly, breakfast is until 10am and lunch starts at 1030am) and didn't realize the time until after he confronted me. I wish they had mentioned it; I would have gladly waited until 1030am so I wasn't treated like a thief and forced to eat scraps in 10mins. He reluctantly threw up his hands and sternly said "I'll let it slide THIS TIME." I haven't visited since pre-Covid but always remembered I enjoyed their buffet but will pass them by next time. Me and my husband were looking forward to going this museum and he saw the breakfast buffet and we got up early to go. They were very nice and the food looked so good and there was a large variety but the food was not good. The biscuits were cold, the ham was like beef jerky and hurt my teeth to chew it. The sausage had a very odd taste and the coffee was horrible. It was very low quality and for $40 for 2 of us we left hungry. What a huge disappointment. We really wanted to love it. SORRY read more

They are concerned with the taste of the food and the table you are sitting at. This place has stuff everywhere. There are amazing things to see on the walls and TONS of history everywhere. This had to be the cutest little stop on my road trip from Memphis to Nashville. I never realized that Casey Jones was a train driver. Just thought it was a grateful dead song LOL. Well this place had grab and go food, a country store section l selling everything add a huge buffet with themed rooms of seating for groups. As many times as I've been to and through Jackson, TN I've never visited Casey Jones until today. It was a cute little country town vibe when we pulled onto the property. We were greeted by a train, Museum, and gift shops galore. The entrance of the restaurant has a gift shop, similar to Cracker Barrel, and there's a buffet/dining room on either side, however, the room to your right is more of a convenience store with to-go buffet. The staff was friendly and welcoming and the food was as to be expected....down home country....and it was delicious! Make sure you grab the hot water cornbread fresh off the griddle! Stopped at this cute little country home cooking buffet on our way to Memphis! The buffet is very reasonably priced! This place does a great job of keeping everyone safe my requesting your wear your mask up to the buffet! The food was wonderful! Everything was hot & fresh on the buffet & the salad bar was great too! There was a great selection of food! So much of a selection there's no way you could leave here hungry! Also plenty of meat & veggies for the keto crowd! The grilled dark meat chicken was really great! Others in our party loved the shepherds pie, meatloaf & the tetrazzini! The green beans had such a wonderful flavor & the squash was cooked perfectly! The creamed spinach was to die for! We all could've easily eaten one of everything off the buffet it all looked so good! We were too full for dessert but the cobblers looked great as well! Didn't know the place existed till I had to get an Airbnb midway through a 16 Hour Dr. This place is quaint, friendly, and a beautiful little piece of the American culture. I loved the little spot where we spent the night, it was so artistic. It was so creative. Got up in the morning and the café was open at 6 AM, they had good coffee, they had such friendly hospitality. It's breathtaking. They also have a lot of train stuff. My mom in law likes little kitchy stores and she would've had an absolute blast there. There was a Pullman car, engine, couple cabooses around. This thing was literally spitting distance off the highway, first light in. Very nice little spot to talk to way behind the main road. read more

***REVIEW FROM AN EXPERIENCE IN JUNE 2015: I just wanted to let everyone reading my review know that even though this review was written in the beginning of 2018; I went to this place in June 2015 (however I am sure if I went to this place again the review would be similar). A few days ago I was talking to someone about places visit in New Orleans because they are interested in visiting the city. I realized that when I went to New Orleans I went to a lot of amazing places but I never wrote Yelp reviews for them because I did not start writing Yelp reviews until the beginning of 2017. I enjoyed many places on my trip and I wanted to share my experiences with everyone even though they are a few years old. So I decided to dig up some old pictures and write the reviews. I would also like to add that most of the experiences I am writing about are places I went to while I was on a guided tour for my trip. I went on a Collette Tour called America's Music Cities. Most of the places we saw and ate at were planned because of the tour. During the tour we stopped at 3 major cities New Orleans, Memphis, and Nashville (and few other stops along the way). I just wanted to let everyone know that since I was on a tour my experiences may have been a little different compared to those who went to these places and were not on a tour (they went on their own) It was an amazing tour and I definitely recommend it.*** Our tour was going from Memphis to Nashville and we stopped at the Casey Jones Village for a pitstop and to stretch our legs. This is such a cute stop in TN. We were only here for a little while but I absolutely loved the store. There were a lot of cute items in the store! I loved the older style of the Country Store. I bought a few items of candies and things that I have never seen before and if I remember correctly everything was a decent price. I wish I had a little more time here to check out the museum and try the food. If I am ever in TN again going between Memphis and Nashville; I would love to stop here and check it out for a longer time! If you need a break from driving, this is the perfect place to go! Enjoy! I think we must have timed this wrong. We went on August 30, 2019 for the catfish, low country boil and the carving station. Those that ate the catfish got sick for two days. I tried to get some catfish but, it was empty every time I looked. The low country boil ran out before any of us could try it. They replaced it with barbecued baloney. There was no carving station, even though it was advertised. None of the 12 of us could take advantage of the dessert bar because it was always empty. There wasn't much of it, anyway. I am not a fan of Golden Corral but, they would be a 10 compared to this being a 2, if I was to compare. read more

If I could give this zero stars, sadly, I would! I visited this place five years ago in 2018 and it was absolutely amazing, charming, fabulous food, service, cleanliness, everything was great. But I returned here about two weeks ago, and it was absolutely awful, it was filthy everywhere, especially the women's bathroom, and the restaurant, which once had one of the best buffets of down-home, southern cooking, I've ever had, now had food that made me sick before I was even finished eating my first couple of plates, the food tasted very off, and it was terrible!!! we were traveling back from a long distance, trip, and after leaving there my husband and I both had to make many many stops for our stomachs blowing up. What's really sad is that the price has doubled in five years as well and the quality has gone down to negative numbers. I was moving to Nashville from Arizona when I saw the sign for great southern food so I figured I will try it since I never been to the south. Worst experience ev in my life. Almost turned back to Az. The employees and customers made it very clear I was not welcome. I never experienced anything racial ever. As I held the door door open for customers coming out they told me it's about time you people opened my door. Too much to explain but definitely think twice about this place. I was also sat in the back directly next to the dishwasher. Go around this place . I feel sorry for those who have to do this to others. read more
