He had the best price and moved his scheduled around to accommodate my current needs (house selling, inspections, etc) He was there early and had finished by the time he was actually supposed to be there. It was a simple outlet issue and instead of charging for the outlet, he showed me that the outlet was good just needed to be rewired. He really could have ran the price up but chose to be genuine and when you have someone like that (much like a good barber or mechanic) you don't go elsewhere and you go out of your way to tell people about them. I will certainly be contacting him on the future. Levan is based out of Newtown and really "could" charge Newtown prices but is an honest and trustworthy guy. Highly recommend. -J

We hired them to repair our home after Hurricane Sandy, and our homeowners insurance company (USAA, as my husband is a veteran) would not pay us for any repairs caused by a tree coming down and tearing our electrical,phone,and cable lines, box, fuse box, and siding, off the house. I had a payment plan with Van Ess Electrical, and were making payments. Then yesterday (9/9/13) two men from Van Ess Electrical cam banging on my BACK door! The older man was waving his fist while holding up a business card and would not leave even after i screamed at him that i am calling the cops if you don't get off my property! I was not about to get close to read the card, and possibly put myself in danger. I didn't know who they were, so I chased them away and called the police for trespassers. I saw a white van pull away. A short time later I found a voice mail from Van Ess Electrical on my cell phone, nonchalantly saying sorry for scarring you, we will take legal action against you if you dont pay up! I called him back and tried to tell him that I was very upset at what they did to me, and that I have a front door with door bell, but I was hung up on. So then I called his cell phone again, and their office, and left basically the same message at both numbers. They need to know that it is NOT OKAY to trespass in someone's BACKYARD and harass and scare a family for a little bit of money (especially when we had a payment plan with them). I am absolutely disgusted with their business tactics.

Fast forward to today - we tried asking them to fix this issue, they came back and said the issue wasn't under their permit, it was under our contractor's permit. So they are off Scott free on an technicality. Sorry, but YOU are the ones that installed and moved the smoke detector, NOT the contractor and now it's going to take a small fortune to fix their screw up (WHILE THEY GET OFF SCOTT FREE) to bring my house up to code. The second they agreed to do that they should made sure the job was up to code - even if it was "under their permit." Avoid at all costs.

He assessed the situation and was able to re-wire and install the ceiling fan which included a quick trip to the appliance store to provide a needed wall plate for that new fan. After that, he helped us reassemble and position bed that originally needed to be moved to get at the ceiling fan. Well, it has been one week since Jared has installed ceiling fan and the fan is working great!
