After walking a very long distance from the new town and getting fully lost in the winding streets of the old town, we just wanted a simple, light lunch with some booze. Ordered a sparkling rose, a beer, bar olives and two different tapas style appetizer samplers typical of the Puglia region. My platter had: crostini with bruschetta, mystery cheese (I never learned what this was!) that tastes like queso fresco with a pickled beet jawn on top, mini eggplant lasagna, a pizza fritta pocket, grilled cheese, meatballs, and buffalo mozzarella. BF's platter had: caprese tomato/mozzarella combo with seasoned olive oil and side of pesto, meatballs, grilled cheese and a quinoa salad. Both platters were fresh and tasty. Perfect portion for a light lunch and a true taste of the region. Perhaps a tad overpriced since it was a bit touristy here, however, I think I preferred this app sampler to that of La Uascezze and I loved that place, so it was worth it. Plus, it was a great way to kill a few hours and look out at the sea.

He has done a lot of work by himself and the result is very nice and tasteful. They serve typical food from the region at lunch time. We had a huge antipasti with delicatessen and cheeses, parmigiana, a black rice pudding and fava beans with green vegetables. We could choose 3 home made pasta dishes (primi) and 3 types of meat as "secondi" (main courses). We were too full for a dessert but the food was overall very fresh and excellent. I explained to the staff that I can't eat any dairy so they adapted the recipes they served me on purpose! I'm pretty sure they could also adapt for vegan and vegetarian options, as the main ingredients in the menu were vegetables!! The choice of wine was excellent, the owner knows very well how to combine wine and food. They explained to us that they will start to offer breakfast and aperitivo (with fresh drinks and food) in the coming weeks. I would definitely recommend to go!

La Locanda Del Porto is located on a path, nearby the beautiful harbour. The restaurant was packed with locals plus some tourists. The latter sitting outside, while locals might prefer inside? Quite odd, but okay. The service was really great. Amazing, actually. They spoke English very well, although I do not expect that, so that's fine if they don't. They did here, so our communication worked better. Food was good. Nothing mindblowing. Do not expect anything above okay. It is decent and I suppose some of the best food in Brindisi - if you are expecting a classic trattoria experience. Missed a higher quality though. They are saying they do seafood very well. They do, but I just do not understand their menu card either saying 'some fish may be frozen'. Seriously guys? No frozen stuff here. Buy in season and rotate your menu. Much more delicious, much more interesting for people. I had a salad with octopus and grana padano. Very good and cheap as well, at only 7€. Having said that, this wasn't much above average. We are talking iceberg lettuce, olives, red onions + the two ingredients mentioned above. Being used to salad places like in Copenhagen, London and New York, this salad falls short. I would gladly return to this place though. I loved the relaxing space and the decent food.

We tried this restaurant on our 1st night landing in Brindisi. We had calamari fritti, pasta…read morew/mussels and clams, sea bass filet with vegetables and a mixed salad. The calamari and the pasta were very good but the mixed salad was just plain salad mix with no dressing. I'm not sure if that's how it normally is or not. And my sea bass filet was very soft and had a lot of bones.
