We made an online reservation and went by in person to confirm. They did not have our reservation when we arrived. Seated inside instead of outside. We ordered our meal and euro starter and w entrees were brught out soon. Three of the four entrees were brought and hour and half later. The 4th entree was never brought. Very poor service and the food was mediocre. I am not a complainer, but this was unacceptable. read more

Elvira is a quirky but extremely friendly restaurant down a small side street about 2 blocks from the Roman Amphitheatre in Lecce's historic centre. The family also operates an enoteca and a cocktail and oyster bar at other locations in the old city. The Cucina is part takeaway gourmet store and part restaurant. BUT a totally worthwhile and great experience. Plenty of Puglian specialties to choose from, and all well executed with flair and incredible flavours. Since this was our "Cena Capodanno", we pretty much sampled the entire menu. An exquisite roast porchetta antipasto, 3 pasta dishes (Apulian classics Ciceri e tria and Orecchiete sugo di Carni), Chickory, crispy grilled octopus and Bombette a la Martina Franca. And plenty of local Salice Salentino to go around. Lecce is full of fun little restaurants, offering a range of cuisines. This is another of them. I'd go back. Elvira regularly features in the "top 10" of Puglian restaurants in Lecce, and its total justified. read more

Recommend by our concierge, Anna at La Fiermontina, as we needed a light snack as our dinner reservations were. Few hours away, we came here. Situated amongst several other welcoming outdoor patio bars , we found Mamma's . We ordered a local beer and an appetizers local swordfish. The local beer hit the spot and the swordfish was an unexpected gem. Wow was it tasty. It was raw, in delicious olive oil sprinkled with small crumbs of dried pepper. read more

What a gem! We wandered into Mamma Elvira half-dead from the heat and left very happy and full. We just had some small plates, fava beans with chicory and tiny meatballs and everything was absolutely delicious! We mopped it all up with the lovely bread and a little of the wonderful local oil. I tried a beautiful rosé wine recommended by our server and it was a perfect refresher from the heat. Service was very friendly and pleasant. Our only regret is that we didn't have room to sample more of the menu - but we will hope to return! read more

Great wines with a focus on local products. We have tasted a lovely fresh rose from the Primitivo grape variety. Some olives, bread and olive oil as a starter, followed by cheese stuffed aubergine rolls and sausage stuffed pork fried rolls. Great service and fresh terrace on a Sommer afternoon. read more
