After walking around lovely Lecce we were quite hungry. We just came from the Piazza Del Duomo and spotted this little place. We didn't check reviews before, but liked the setting outside and gave it a try.
There's a good number of tables inside, some outside in front and as well on the side. In August you want to choose one in the shade, 'cause it really gets hot here in summer.
There weren't many guests that sunday. There weren't many visitors in town in general, so getting a nice table was easy. Service was very friendly and attentive and the lady manager (owner?) was very friendly as well and quite liked our dog very much, which was more than welcome here at the restaurant.
We ordered two local beers and the meat/cheese platter for two for 25 Euros, which did seem a bit pricey at first. But only at first.
Along with the platter came a basket full of bread and other nibbled. There were about five kinds of different meat cuts (Serrano ham, salami etc.) and around five different cuts of cheese (two of each!) Most cow milk cheese, some with Chili, some aged in wine and one goat cheese. Chutney was served with. Both the meat and cheese was high in quality. And easily the best meat/cheese platter we've had on our five week Italy Road Trip. And we did have lots of meat cuts and cheese. And this one beats them all! So much flavour in the meat, properly aged and really just the best cuts. The cheese wasn't a mass product at all and each piece was unique. We were really thrilled. After the beer we've ordered some white wine.
They serve other meals of course as well. We've seen some pasta dishes on other tables. Didn't look that exciting. But just speaking of our meal: A fantastic choice for a lunch for two. And in the end worth every buck. Highly recommended! read more
