My boy Simba unfortunately he hates go to the doctor due to the normal tx:'s for milestones.

Amazing front end vet assistants to the Vet Techs to the physician just amazing,! Now, for the down side. Appts are booked out real far ugh BUT, you can ask to be put on their cancellation list,!

My horse came in for a laceration after hours, i had already flushed and probed the wound as well as facetimed my regular veterinarian to look at it and advise. Cascade west was the closest clinic and now I had wished I had continued on to Olympia. While the vet on call had a wonderful bedside manner, she was clearly inexperienced and my horse ended up suffering from it. She sedated my horse in the stocks but then proceeded to try to do a laceration repair on a hind leg laceration in them. This is not only incredibly awkward, but dangerous for all parties involved should you need to get out of the way quick with all the bars. Case in point, she was blocking my mare with lidocaine and injected it into a vessel and my mare collapsed in the stock and thrashed around so much she now has lacerations/abrasions on all of her legs and her head and is in worse shape then she came in. By that point the vet was too nervous to lidocaine again and couldnt stitch mare cause she hadnt blocked her completely. So she wrapped her leg and sent me home. The wrap didnt even last the trailer ride home. I ended up rewrapping her leg in my garage. In all of my years working large and small animal emergency i have never seen a vet put a horse in stocks for stitches on a leg or inject a vessel with lidocaine. I contacted the office manager and spoke with her about my situation. She was nice, but they claim they already discounted my bill when it was sent, by not charging me for saline for the wound flush or the bandage.. the 10mls of saline that was used you were going to charge in addition to the the wound flush fee? Whats that fee even cover then? The vet holding the needle? And why on earth should i need grateful to not be charged a crappy bandage job? The vet quoted me a bill between 500-600 before i left. I was sent a bill for 567.71... and youre telling me it would have been $900 w/o these discounts.. so the vet was off by $400 in her estimate before i expressed my concerns ? $572.71 for a wound flush and banamine and more injuries than my horse came in with. I even had my own antibiotics at home so the bill didnt include those either.. Really nice. This is a futurity horse who now will take even longer to come back thanks to inexperience and cascade west didnt even have the decency to try to make things right. Pretty crummy

    Ro with her mysterious bumps...

Took 2 of our cats: one was skinny, not eating well the other had a bare patch on his back. I'm guessing all stress related due to the move. Remund was very rough, didn't introduce himself to the cats, just stuck a thermometer in the first one's rear and yes she yelped. He wasn't personable, didn't ask the right questions, didn't take time to get to the know the cats or us. The whole time we were there he kept pushing an expensive flea control med that we didn't want. I kept repeating that we are happy with the topical that we're using. He decided to sell us that flea med anyways and a dewormer for the first cat (they didn't have worms) and a steroid for the second cat. We never received the steroid and I didn't want the flea med and they didn't give the right number of dewormer pills. I don't care if this is the only clinic with an emergency service I'll drive to Seattle if I have to in an emergency. I will NEVER go here again. Found this article about Remund - his license should be revoked. https://www.chronline.com/stories/state-veterinary-board-withdraws-unprofessional-conduct-charges-made-against-fords-prairie-animal,282048

They have always been wonderful and have always treated our pets wonderfully as well! Yesterday we had to take my daughters border collie to the vet because he was having severe bouts of diarrhea and vomiting. Everyone in the office from the receptionist staff, to the assistants in the exam rooms, to Dr. Faye were amazing! They always are amazing! Bandit had several accidents in the exam room and none of the staff complained about having to clean it up. They treated Bandit so kind and were very compassionate towards him. They quickly took him back to the procedure rooms, knowing something serious, was going on with him. They ran the necessary, bloodwork, tested his stool, and got IV fluids going immediately. They also gave him the necessary medication he needed, and he was discharged in the evening the same day. His diagnosis was colitis and gastroenteritis, both which can be very serious if left untreated. My daughter and I are so thankful for this veterinary office! They always, without fail, take care of our pets in the best way that they can. We are grateful that they were able to resolve the health issue with bandit quickly so that we could bring him back home and get him on the road to recovery. I highly recommend this veterinary office! They are amazing!

I'm…read moreposting this to inform others in the community, especially pet owners, about what we experienced during an incredibly difficult time. This is not meant to discredit the clinic as a whole, but to be transparent about an interaction that had a significant emotional impact on us and may be important for others to be aware of. Our family recently brought our cat to Columbia River Veterinary Specialists during one of the most painful moments a pet owner can experience--having to say goodbye. I want to be very clear that the majority of the staff we interacted with were kind, patient, and compassionate. The woman at the front desk treated us with warmth and respect, the staff member we spoke with on the phone beforehand was helpful and understanding, and the veterinarian who ultimately assisted with end-of-life care was gentle, loving, and respectful. He took the time to explain everything clearly and treated both our pet and our family with dignity. Those are exactly the kinds of people you want working in a field that involves end-of-life care and emotional vulnerability. Unfortunately, our initial interaction with one staff member significantly overshadowed the experience. When our family first arrived, the individual who took our cat back (not the person who checked us in) made comments that strongly implied judgment about why our pet had not been brought in sooner. These remarks were delivered in a way that felt accusatory and lacked empathy, especially given that our pet was actively dying and we were already emotionally overwhelmed. Financial limitations are a reality for many families. Being made to feel guilt or shame for not having immediate access to thousands of dollars--at the exact moment we were facing the loss of a beloved pet--was deeply inappropriate and unprofessional. Veterinary professionals are entrusted with not only animal care, but human compassion. This was not the time for assumptions, judgment, or commentary--it was a moment that required empathy, discretion, and support. I'm sharing this because no family should be made to feel judged or shamed while saying goodbye to a pet. I sincerely hope this feedback is taken seriously and addressed internally, because the rest of the staff we encountered demonstrated the level of care and compassion that should be standard in situations like this. Our pet deserved peace and dignity in their final moments--and so did our family. I would like to call out Nicole Akerill aswell. She does not deserve to work in a profession like this! Thank you very much.

From the front desk, to the technician, to the veterinarian, they were all so kind, warm and excellent at their jobs. Yes, it's expensive to have a dog need emergency services.
