Overall my pedicure experience was just fine. The application was quality, but I have ingrown toenails that my regular pedicurist at home usually spends a good amount of time taking care of. This manicurist did not. I will say that each staff member was extremely polite and professional. However, for $70 I expected an amazingly extravagant experience, but the only "extra" was a foot mask that was applied to remove toxins and then my feet were wrapped in a warm towel for five minutes as it absorbed. I also expected a long leg and foot massage, but I got about 2-3 minutes per leg. This was the "diamond" package. Upon checking out, I paid the outrageous price and then was told that there was a mandatory 18% gratuity. If there wasn't, perhaps my manicurist would have worked a bit harder for my tip. A beautiful spa, it's a shame my diamond experience wound up more like a three star ordeal. I know I was paying for the location and hotel-inspired pricing, but I will likely not be returning if these prices and gratuity practices remain the same. read more

I'm excited to be the first one to write about Cascade. I have to say I'm surprised there are no reviews here yet! Cascade Spa is located in the lower level of Church Landing, which is a hotel that is part of the Inns & Spa at Mills Falls in Meredith, NH. This is a 4 1/2 star rating. My boyfriend and I stayed in the Inn across the street from Church Landing. We had planned the trip as a nice weekend getaway from Manhattan. We booked our trip through Travel Zoo. This booking gave us a $25 credit to the spa so we decided to book a couples massage. We arrived for our appointment about thirty minutes early (as requested). We were greeted warmly by the staff and led to the Relaxation Lounge. We were happy almost instantly. The place was so incredibly relaxing. The lounge had a waterfall on one wall which gave a nice serene feel and of course that lovely falling water sound. There were big plush wicker and soft linen/terry cloth couches and chairs to sit on. The woman who showed us in let us choose a type of tea to have while we waited and filled out our forms (tea forte, which is a great brand of tea if you haven't tried it!) The woman who first greeted us gave us ample time, no rushing at all. When she noticed we were finished with our forms she brought us locker keys and showed us to the locker room to change. The "locker rooms" were not typical. Soft music, soft carpet, and big plush robes to change into were some of the best things in there. In the ladies room there were also showers, a sauna, clean towels, hair dryers, combs....just about anything you could ask for. They also provide clean sandals to each guest to walk around in. With our belongings safely locked away we kept our keys in our robe pockets and I never once worried about the safety of my purse and other items. We waited in the lounge for our masseuses. The actual massage we chose was a 50 min. Sweedish massage. I believe they call it the tranquility massage. My boyfriend had a great experience. Mine was pleasant I only had two small complaints. My masseuse never asked if the pressure she was using was adequate. I actually would have preferred more, but since she never asked I didn't want to be rude and interrupt. Also, I personally prefer to skip facial massage. I would have liked her to ask permission before she began that portion. I would have liked more time to be spent on my shoulders instead. Aside from that the atmosphere was clean and calming. I would definitely go again and just make sure to speak up about those two things i mentioned before. The price was good as well. Definitely less than one would pay for a similar experience in the city. If you're at Mills Falls give the spa a try! read more

The clinicians are lovely, but the woman at the front desk is awful. My 85 year old mother went in for a spa treatment that was given to her as a birthday gift. It was meant to be a day at the spa, but given her age, she was unable to do it all in one day. When she asked to split it up, she got treated very badly by the woman at the front desk. When she returned for the rest of her treatment a few days later, she was also treated badly. We will not be going back there ever again. There is no reason for this. A spa treatment is meant to be calming and peaceful and lovely, and this woman ruined it. Replace her or teach her how to be kind to customers. read more

The staff at Cascade spa go out of their way to accommodate guests. In particular, Martha, the spa director, ensures that the experience is as enjoyable as possible during covid. Understandably some of the facilities are temporarily unavailable (saunas etc. ) but the staff go out of their way to provide a pleasant, relaxing and safe experience. I booked two blowouts for my mother and I for my rehearsal dinner (which was off-site). The stylist was running very late and was doing both my mother and I. I had to ask her to stop working on me to get to my mom's blowout so we weren't late. I went to go pay and was charged $75 for "special occasion hair" and $45 for my mother's blowout. The service menu on their website says that a blowout includes a blow-dry set with iron for $45. I asked why I was charged for special occasion hair and a manager came out and explained it was because the stylist used a hot tool. I was very irritated but had about 5 minutes to change for my rehearsal dinner so I paid and ran out. I warned some friends who had blowouts scheduled there the next day that they could get charged $75 if the stylist uses a hot tool. My girlfriend said they used a curling iron on her and only charged $45. So my takeaway is that they heard me talking about my rehearsal dinner and decided to up-charge me "special occasion hair" because of it. Pretty disappointing, especially given the rushed blowout and the limp flatiron curls I had to wear to my rehearsal dinner. I do not recommend. read more

I have only been here once, last week with my mother and sister. We made appointments a few days ahead of time for manicures and pedicures for all of us, and an eyebrow wax for my mom. It's definitely the atmosphere of an upscale spa. We got there about 10 mins before our appointments (not half an hour like they ask, I realize) and got set up in robes and with lockers. My mother has some health issues that had flares up earlier that day, so we wanted one of us to be present with her while she got her eyebrows done. We all ended up going in because the technician said it was no problem. She did a good job on that, and it looked fairy painless and was quick. Then we went to get our nails done, and when we went in I caught a little bit of attitude about the fact that this made us about 5 mins late to the nail appt. It's not that she said anything specific, but more how she said "oh I didn't realize you were ALL in there" while giving a look yo the other technician. Then she kind of hurried us along in choosing colors. The pedicure was great. She really took her time and did a good job. Then I got a shellac manicure and it wasn't quite as good. The shellac has stayed on great for 4-5 days now, but she didn't get the whole nail on every one. Oh well. I guess I would just expect a little bit higher level of service for a place like this with how much we paid-- and where you hear your technician say "you get what you pay for." read more

Facilities: new, clean, beautiful and tranquil. I loved how the whole spa seems subterranean and separate from the rest of the hotel. You can use the steam rooms, showers, hot tub and pool outside and inside of you come earlier than your appointment or use afterward. All attendants, service people, and therapists went out of their way to make you feel taken care of here! My husband and I did a couples massage. I had Sheila: AMAZING. Very responsive, professional, and in tune the entire time. We did not want to leave the room afterward. State of bliss. Lovely products too. I *do* wish there was more access to hot tea and coffee, wasn't sure if you needed to ask, but staff were not usually behind the desk in the lounge to ask. The facilities here are great. Wonderful meditation room, infused waters and fruit, cute locker room, option to use indoor/outdoor pool with hot tub pre or post massage. The steam room is a little dated and crusty. I would def. invest in new tiles if I was the Common Man chain. The massages themselves ( I have had 4 or 5) are a notch above mediocre but this is coming from someone who appreciated a pressure filled deep tissue..... This is a great place for a full on spa day and get your moneys worth. I was hoping to be impressed by this facility upon reading online reviews, but I wasn't. Maybe expectations were set too high. I booked an appointment for 2 side-by-side pedicures. You can't book online, only by phone. This isn't my preference, because things can sometimes go wrong when making reservations by phone. And they did. I have my conversation with the front staff recorded, stating at the end of the conversation my requested appointment time. This was done a couple days ahead of the appointment day. My friend and I luckily were in the area an hour before our appointment, when I get a call from the front staff. They had logged in my booking an hour earlier than my request! So I was flustered when we arrived. Luckily we got the last parking spot in the lot; it needs to be bigger. The facility was nice, and my technician, Maria was great. But the nail area smelled strongly of chemicals upon entering, and I can't believe they don't call/text guests 24 hours in advance to confirm appointments. My situation would have been avoided if they did so. That would be a big improvement, and it would make the facility appear more professional and less unorganized. read more

First let me begin by saying that when I called the spa for cost of facials they refused to give me an answer but made an appointment anyway because my husband had given me money for my birthday. So today I went for what was called a 50 minute (a scant 50 minutes) Classic Facial. I requested Marie whom I had had before because of her expertise in dealing with cosmetic skin issues. The services at Cascade spa are nothing special. I booked a trial updo for my wedding, and they told me it was more expensive and longer so I could try different styles. But when I went, the stylist said we only had time for one. The mani/pedi I got there was good, the final updo was ok, the massage was mediocre. And bc I was getting married at the hotel with which they are affiliated, they insisted on all these different cancellation policies and prices for the services, even though I was just booking for myself. As much as i LOVE Church Landing, whose luxurious and cozy feel always makes me think a spa treatment sounds like a lovely idea, I won't go back to Cascade again. read more

Was SO disappointed in recent experience. Went for massage and got totally short changed on time. 50 minutes was actually 40 minutes ... asked for deep massage but technician failed to listen to me. Afterwards I thought I'd try a dip in the pool which is one of the amenities that is offered with massage. Filter was clearly not working ( I own an in ground pool in MA so know when it is not functioning properly). As a result, all I could smell was urine as I went into it. So gross . I had a Sacred Nature deep moisture facial today with Marie and it was fantastic! Marie gave a great facial massage as well as going the extra mile with a neck and shoulder massage. Other aestheticians will leave you while the mask is doing it's magic but that's when Marie did the neck and shoulder massage. She used the sonic brush twice in order to really clean up my skin so the actual extractions needed were minimized. I get massages religiously every two week so I know what a good massage is. The spa also has many other amenities that I didn't take advantage of: free juices and trail mix, relaxation room, and I believe an indoor pool. The restaurant is also nice for lunch. This spa is average. I went for a special birthday pedicure. I called and reserved the full, pricey treatment. I double checked the price when I called to ensure the website wasnt outdated. I received an average pedicure, nothing really special. The tech only applied one layer of polish even though it was a light color. When I went to check out I was automatically charged a 18% gratuity. I told her I only wanted 15% since it was nothing special and I was unhapy with polish. She said it was policy. I loved my massage here! I had Whitney and she was super nice. I think I was even a couple of minutes late but she didn't act annoyed or try to rush me at all. Everything about the place was soothing and comfortable. The prices are pretty high, but the coupon I had from our travel zoo deal made the massage an average price. Cathie gave a wonderful and relaxing facial. The facilities are very comfortable, clean, etc. You are provided with a warm bathrobe and slippers; you can have hot tea or other beverages in the relaxation room. During the facial you are on a chair with warmed blankets. Shoulders, hands and scalp are also massaged as part of the facial. You are welcome to use the steam room, the sauna, etc. The locker room has great private showers and everything you need to clean up, dry your hair, etc. I will definitely be back. read more
