This review reflects my personal experience with this contractor. I recommend obtaining a copy of…read moretheir proof of insurance, having a very detailed written contract, and confirming all payment terms before any work begins. In our case, we were asked to pay in cash or make checks out to our own name rather than the contractor's business entity. We didn't realize this might be a red flag, but I'd suggest other consumers to clarify all payment details and ensure that checks are made payable to the business entity (not an individual) to protect themselves should any issues arise. I was dissatisfied with how the project was handled. Some work did not match what I understood to be our agreement (including the invoices themselves and written communications), and there was damage to our property (over a year later). The portions of the work that differed from the contract (as invoiced) were not covered under warranty, even though the company's website referenced a 5-year warranty on hardscaping policy. The products (plants) they said were under warranty were not replaced or refunded, despite multiple requests (and after spending over $36k with them). I offered to resolve the matter through the contractor's insurance, but proof of coverage was not provided. I was also billed for services I did not authorize. We ultimately had to hire another contractor to replace a portion of their work from our last contract and correct the work completed under one of the contracts, resulting in more than tripling the costs for that particular item. After a year of written attempts to resolve these issues, we were unable to reach an agreement. We were recommended in our correspondence by them to file a small claims case to recover what I believe are my losses. The experience was costly and stressful, especially since the work was for an elderly family member recovering from a stroke. I wish I had read all the online reviews on Yelp and Google more carefully. Based on my experience, I would not hire this contractor again and recommend that others proceed carefully (should they decide to proceed with them). If you want images and videos, it's in my review on Google Maps.

We are new in town & trusted this company to say, hey it's to late in the season to plant grass. it's been raining.... I chalked it up to the rain, the heat when my grass all choked out & died. still didn't write a review, but called another person in who basically said, it's all about timing and you were taken for a ride. Still didn't write a review until now when I came outside to my yard looked down at the so called "dirt" they threw down, it is filled with ROCKS ! NOW I'm mad and you get your review.

From the initial survey all the way through to the final installation, Sue works with a keen analytical mind, integrity and meticulous attention to both the overarching goals of the project and to the smallest of details. I have been in awe of her consistent ability to hear her clients' needs and dreams and to craft solutions that honor those desires while incorporating sustainable design, integrating energy savings, and strengthening native ecosystems in all of her designs. All of her work is highly customized to address the needs of the specific client: there is no such thing as one-size-fits-all in Sue Reed's approach, and every client is the recipient of 110% of her effort, time and creativity. I would not hesitate for a second to recommend her to any homeowner for any landscape design project---from the siting of a new house, to the improvement of drainage issues and driveway design, to making a home's landscape more functional, beautiful and elegant. She is simply the best.

"Maybe it was the fill." We're "overwhelmed with the Tolland foundation crisis." Those were some of my favorite quotes (more like excuses) from our conversation. If you don't have time to properly do residential jobs, don't take them; stick to your big commercial jobs! They agreed to come back, relevel the backyard (which was several inches off), slit seed (which they didn't do, they used a spreader), lime and fertilize (hopefully). I did actually get grass to start growing due to hiring another company (All Landscaping, 860-798-6301, Allen did an amazing job for a very reasonable price), and when they came to "fix" the issues, they proceeded to drive a Bobcat on the lawn (unnecessary) and put dirt down on the grass that had grown in, even after being told before the work started what areas needed to be done. It took legal action to get the job (somewhat) fixed, and I will be fixing myself in the spring. Do not hire this company.
