We saw they were going to open at 11am, and decided to try our luck by getting there right at opening since we didn't have a reservation. There's also a super cute swing area next to the bar area that you can sit. I really liked the overall interior design! The staff was very attentive for our large party throughout our meal. There are bathrooms downstairs as well. - FOOD - Bacon Jam Benedict ($20.00): Loved the flavor combination in this! The sweet savory maple bacon jam worked so well! We upgraded to the fried potatoes ($4.00) and they were pretty tasty. Carrot Cake French Toast ($24.00): We got one to share with the table, and I'm glad we didn't commit because it was just OK to me. I wish there was more mascarpone filling, and also a different sauce than chocolate because it didn't pair well for me. Winter Nights ($19.00): We wanted to get some greens in and chose this salad. I enjoyed the mix of greens and also the fennel salami which gave a salty bite! Truffle Parm Fries ($13.00): We also got this to share with the table and you can't go wrong with these! - OVERALL - Great brunch option if you have a small or large group! That works just fine for me, I'm not sure I could've had much more than a puff or two of it otherwise. It was my first sheesha experience. I was also the first one there. Cafe Med was busy and I was too afraid to go in by myself. Thank the good Yelp gods for Sarah Louise! She saved me from looking like a creep peeking in the windows for too long. The folks at Cafe Med are friendly people. Our server talked us into some Moroccan Madness (tea) while we waited for the rest of our peeps to arrive. We also snacked on some red pepper hummus and rolled up grape vine leaves (if you've never had them, they're comparable to cabbage rolls in concept... just a different flavour to them). You might also want to try the garlic pizza. As far as sheesha bars go, I have nothing else to compare this one to! So it's got three stars in my books. Mostly because the guy serving our table offered to fill our tea pots up with more hot water, took the pots away and didn't return with them until we inquired about them again. And also because, even though it's a spot to come smoke things, there were times the haze built up enough to burn my eyes for a moment or two. At any rate, the food was pretty cheap, the pipes were just over $10 each and they kept bringing new coals around. From what I gathered, not dropping ashes into the pipe is a bit of an art that Cafe Med has mastered. Overall, a positive experience!

They have so many different flavours of shisha to choose from and each is delicious in their own way. I prefer the fruity flavours to the chocolate or coffee ones though... I find them a little more refreshing. Not only do they have great, friendly service, but they even offer a crash course for all the beginners that go there. It's not like it's hard though. You light the charcoal, and suck on the hose... pretty self-explanatory. Don't worry all you first-timers, everything that goes on inside this place is completely legal. They also have a wide selection of meals and appetizers to choose from, but I don't usually go for it. Like I said, I don't really care for the shisha so I don't feel the need to buy the food in the joint. My philosophy on shisha is, it's not giving me my nicotine fix so what's the point? I definitely understand why other people like to chill in this place though. That's exactly what you do... chill. It's a nice atmosphere with cool people.

It was a week before Christmas and we were booked into The Casbah for our office Christmas party. We arrived and were immediately taken by the ambiance of the place. Our groups reservation was when they first opened, 5:30. We had a whole section of the restaurant to ourselves. From the minute we stepped foot into the doorway the service was impeccable. Our Christmas dinner consisted of a variety of dishes that we were able to sample per table. It was very nicely portioned and timed. Everything was so delicious. My absolute favorites were; the phyllo appetizers filled with spiced prawns and for the entree it goes to the sweet lamb stew with chickpeas and dates. Towards the end of our dinner the restaurant started to fill with another group that we had suspected was another Christmas party but to our surprise a bride walked arm in arm with her parents through the doorway. They had a full wedding service and private reception. What an amazing unforgettable night we had celebrating and can't wait to bring more of my family and friends. I highly recommend this restaurant for your special occasion. read more

A Wonderful night!! I couldn't decide where to take my wife on our anniversary so I started searching on the web for a unique experience , that's when i found Moroccan. Never having Moroccan food before, I did further research and found Calgary has 3. The one in Kensington is a total write off, nothing positive is said about it. Another, not very authentic, I found out no one there is Moroccan, not even the owners?? Then, I found The Casbah. EXQUISITE! They completely deliver. Everyone on the floor is Moroccan, with the exception of the owners wife, who is as knowledgeable about Morocco as the owner himself. Our dinner was outstanding, I've had couscous before and their right Moroccans do make the greatest couscous ever!! I also found out they have a Moroccan pastry chef who not only makes the BEST Moroccan bread, but an assortment of pastries that are completely exclusive to the Casbah. I recommend the Casbah to my dearest of family and friends!! read more

"Very authentic and subtly spiced Moroccan food I have been to Morocco multiple times, have many Moroccan friends, and make Moroccan inspired dishes myself and I was really impressed by this restaurant. Very delicious tanjines - we were a group so we were able to sample and each one was very different from the other and wonderfully spiced. The food was excellent. I really recommend the Tajine with prunes, almonds, and apricot, and there is one with grilled eggplant as well that was incredible. The couscous served with saffron sauce was fantastic,, the mint tea served at the end of the meal was great , everything else was excellent. Even the pickier eaters cleaned their plates. i highly recommend the casbah restaurant. i forgot to mention that it was one of the most beautiful restaurant i have been to the decor is magical. read more

I went there with my friends in which 2 are vegan. We've been to sultans tent and the food was extremely Vegan friendly. This place... Not so much. The waiter seemed annoyed that he had vegan customers and was extremely arrogant and made really rude comments. When he asked my vegan friends if they were gluten free, and they said no, he said good - this is a fake allergy anyways how can 90% of people have a gluten intolerance?? We were appalled!! The food was awful, tasted like it came from a can and pre heated not made fresh. The dessert was very very disappointing and we all feel sick. It was also really expensive for the horrible service and extremely poor quality food! Sultans tent was way better, much better quality, and more "authentic". read more

Was extremely disappointed in the general service of this place. The owner was extremely rude and said if we did not spend a certain amount and get entrees then to leave the restaurant so we took his advice and left because of the poor customer service and lack of courtesy . Beware the overpriced appetizers they are only meant for one person even though they are the price of a big appetizer somewhere else. Cannot recommend this place to anyone unless you want to spend a lot of money for someone to treat you rudely and very bland food of small portions. Only giving one star because the set up looked very nice but everything was very dusty and old. Do not go here ! read more

Food was ok, far from anything special. I can honestly cook a way better meal at home. Vegetables tasted like they were canned, and the service was pretty bad. The lady was awesome, but the man which I have been informed is the owner, was rude and snarky. Particularly in making fun of celiacs in front of other customers, and making inappropriate meat comments to 2 of us that were vegan. For an amazing Moroccan dish, I would definitely suggest you go to sultans tent, skip right over this dive! read more
