I salted my chips when they came out hot since I like them that way, and the salt grinder let me choose a thicker grind. The salsa is worth mentioning since it was thick and on the spicy side, and it was quite a bit better than average for Pensacola. My meal itself was a chicken quesadilla, a beef burrito and a chili relleno. The plate was full so it did not come with rice or beans, and I admit I missed them. The chili relleno was good but a little heavy, and it would not cut with a fork the batter as the batter was fried tough. The chicken quesadilla was bland and also would not cut with a fork. The burrito, however, was perfect. I could've just eaten burritos and salsa in hindsight and been perfectly happy had it come with the beans and rice. Overall the food was good, and the environment is nice and "traditional" with lots to see while you are waiting for your food.

They are newer so they are still training staff so we had two servers taking care of us. The Chilaquiles were ok, would have been better if the chips were actually home made and not from a bag. The beans were just beans and the rice lacked flavor as well. The el pastor was well flavored and with the addition of their house hot sauces leveled up the dish. The Hawaiian torta was something special. The bread felt like it was kissed and buttered by an angel. The fries were odd, did not like them so much. The menu did mention "ask about dessert" but we were politely told dessert was not an available option yet. That's ok. We will be back to try them again.

I was pleasantly surprised at the cleanliness and new age of the restaurant. Just at a glance of the menu I knew that this was authentic Mexican food. No fried chicken tenders and fries in sight. The waitress was very polite , even with the limited English she spoke. I love that she automatically brought us water with our salsa and chips. Also, they were so good! Chips were not stale and the salsa had a small amount of heat without being overpowering. We ordered a cheese dip and it was too spicy for my preference, which is probably one of the only downside I had. My husband ordered Carnitas and he said they were so good. They were fall off the bone. I had the quesadilla lunch and chose grilled chicken as my meat. The chicken was fantastic, juicy, and flavorful. The tortilla you could tell has just been made, which I thought was such a small touch that made a difference in my experience. I truly felt like I had stepped into a small home of an old Spanish woman who had cooked all her life. It's definitely worth a shot if you love authentic Mexican food. Oh! The man probably don't understand this but as a woman seeing the bathroom, extremely clean just topped off my whole review of the restaurant. So modern, clean and well-maintained. As a woman with small children also, thank you clean bathrooms are a must. ** if you're wondering why there is only four stars instead of five. I usually grade up to a four. I have met very few restaurants that impressed me enough for five star reviews. Those are very sacred in my opinion!

This is decent Mexican food if you're looking for something to scratch the itch while in Pensacola…read more My main gripe with this restaurant was the service, they were so unwilling to make any modifications to the food you order. They wouldn't let me add guacamole or salsa to my burritos. It was so strange. They also pre-slice the burritos, so please check yours for fragments of foil before eating!! I found a bunch of little flakes in mine. I got two burritos, first was the standard burrito, with chicken and it was okay. It was some of the blandest chicken I've ever tasted and this is the burrito they didn't put guacamole on. The second burrito was a California burrito with chicken and they refused to put salsa on it. Same bland chicken as the other burrito, but this one came with pico on it, which was a welcome addition, but this also lacked the flavor and punch I'm accustomed to. They used tots as opposed to fries, which was a cool idea. The chips were good, but they charge extra for it.
