We reserved a table at the balcony right at sunset at 6pm. We arrived and promptly got thru the security and were taken to our table and it was the most gorgeous view ever. We ordered the signature drink, The Pirata, and it was delish, very strong , and came in a coconut. We then wanted to order dinner. But no server or employee of any kind came to our table for over an hour after we got our drinks. We waited and waited and when we decided to give up and go elsewhere then finally a server came. So we decided to order since it was about 7:15 and we figured it would take too long to go somewhere else and order. My bf ordered the lobster mofongo in some kind of soup and I got red snapper in a plantain crust. Then again we waited and waited. I was so hungry I started trying to pick the coconut pieces out of my Pirata drink. Finally at 8:11 our food was served, And we were starved. I was prepared to hate the food haha but it was actually so delicious. So I guess come here if you are not starved and have tons of time. And you will get a delicious meal w the most beautiful sunset view.

Not sure why as April is shouldering peak season in Puerto Rico. That said, it was nice to have peace and quiet while relaxing in the pool which we had to ourselves for 2 days! On the down side, there was little to no staff. The bar remained closed the entire time. MINUS ONE STAR We did enjoy the Thai restaurant one evening! The food was really delicious. We had the Pad Thai with shrimp, the spicy papaya salad and chicken curry. Highly recommend this place as a lot of locals were in. This was the one time we did see a lot of people. ADD A STAR The room was nice and had a nice enclosed outdoor patio where we could hang out and dry our clothes after a day at the beach. The beds were comfortable although VERY high! ADD ONE STAR The resort grounds were very well maintained and I enjoyed strolling around taking pictures of the property and all the pretty flowers! Definitely a pretty place. Loved the lookout area that also served at the Thai restaurant. ADD ONE STAR No other food was available for breakfast or lunch but they did have a nice coffee station with many choices of flavors syrups and creamers/milks and teas! ADD ONE STAR They also had a game room for the kids to enjoy. There were also many large iguanas roaming the property where our room was. It was fun sitting outside our door watching them climb the trees! Parking was on a very steep hill across from the Inn. Be careful to attend to your rolling suitcases as we almost had one roll down the hill! Haha Overall the Lazy Parrot was a nice place to stay. Just wish they had staffed the bar! Moldy coffee grounds in the room coffee pot, Locked out of my room because "the manager wasn't working," got walked in on by staff while I was naked in bed.. no knock, nothing, room was contaminated with fiberglass from the deteriorating fiberglass bed protector, needed to switch rooms, room I moved to had electrical problems, couldn't get out of my booking, the water went out, but they didn't notify anyone. They knew, but thought it was a nice surprise to come home to and discover for yourself...It was generally difficult to find anyone to help, whoever is manning the front desk has many other things to do... so they have to be tracked down. And even when you eventually do, they have to find another person who might be able to help. Which could take hours (and usually does.) I've literally never had a worse trip. I've stayed at many $10- $4/night hotels, and I'd trade any one of them for this one. (Except the one with bed bugs.) For the price, I thought it would be amazing. But it was only amazingly bad. Last month, I stayed at a Westin for the same exact amount, and had the polar opposite experience. Hands down, this was the worst value for money I've ever experienced.

However, the hotel was understaffed and empty during our stay. For two to three days, my guest and I had to share a single dirty bath towel. The pool bar was also not very well maintained or staffed. Overall, it was ok for a last-minute booking, but for the price, I think you could get more value at nearby properties.

It is definitely a challenging course, but one that is incredibly enjoyable to play. The practice range is beautifully maintained, and the putting green is impressively large. The entire staff was friendly, welcoming, and attentive. The ladies in the clubhouse greeted us with warm smiles throughout our visit, and the pro shop team took great care of us. We never felt rushed and were able to truly enjoy every moment on the course. Taking in the stunning coastline of Isabela, Puerto Rico while playing was a once-in-a-lifetime experience. The scenery is simply remarkable, with dramatic ocean views around nearly every turn. My husband and I were smiling from tee to tee and soaking in every second of our round. I managed to lose both sleeves of golf balls along the way, but it was impossible to be upset because I was having the time of my life! We have played golf courses all over the world, and Royal Isabela is truly a gem. We waited 20 minutes for water, then had to remind the waiter for our wine we had ordered (a 30 minute wait) and then to top that off, our main course arrived an hour later. There was absolutely nothing special about this experience. No one on the staff tried to make up for any of this. We will not likely return. What a disappointment.

I can't vouch for the cabanas/accomodations but I can definitely vouch for the sushi and it's delicious. All amazingly fresh (we watched the chef purchase a huge tuna fish while we were eating dinner, it became the next night's sashimi highlight). It's very small (picture the deck around a backyard pool, plus a bar...yup, that pretty much sums it up -- oh, plus a little shack that constitutes the kitchen facilities). They have a really pretty lower "level" that includes more seating and the whole atmosphere everywhere there is quiet, laid back and romantic. Tip: The bar is "separate" from the food and you have to go to the bar yourself to grab any alcoholic bevs. They have a nice selection of sake plus your expected "full bar" offerings (don't forget to drink a Medalla!). Both the restaurant and the bar accept credit/debit.

It's eclectic and clean and close to all of the beaches and shops in the main downtown (if you can even call it that) area. Rincon's whether can be unpredictable which is why it is such a hot surfing destination. That being said if you can't be out on the beach or are not an avid surfer you really need a good place to hang out if this is your beach vaca. I could be at the LoveShack for weeks and read in a hammock overlooking crashing waves and enjoying the salt air breeze. On to the Sushi bar. It is NOT easy to find healthy food to eat in rural Puerto Rico. Sorry. It's like rural America. Fried, buttered, breaded and usually the only greens you will see are the garnish IF you are in a good restaurant. The Sushi bar is Sushi and you just can't go that wrong there in my opinion. They have a TON of choices and lots of them vegetarian. The Mango sushi roll is hard to get because it's seasonal, but it's the house favorite and easily their best dish. Lobster rolls are great, all of the sashimi is great... I think they get most of their fish fresh daily from the local fishermen. The Bar is totally hopping with laid back surfers and wanabees (like me) creating a fun atmosphere at night surrounding a neon lit pool and giant projections of surfers on a screen. It's kind of a tiki vibe on mushrooms which makes total sense in the context of where you are. Pools beach *resort* is an AWESOME home base for anyone looking to have a good time in Rincon. Especially if it is your first time. It's a great jumping off point and all of the staff will tell you where to surf, where to swim, what good places to eat are and where the best swells are that day and will hook you up with lessons or call the horseback riding place for you or whatever... All with that expat, dropout, laid back happy attitude you get when you decide to just kind of check out of the rat race and live your life. I've been here three times from NYC now and will ALWAYS go back.
