However, Los Chilaquiles has the best I've ever had. I had breakfast here with friends a few days ago. First, the restaurant is beautiful, classy, roofed but open in the front (no worries, Guadalajara has wonderful weather), you're greeted by a gorgeous old carriage, and by staff dressed in traditional charro attire. The menu is extensive, offering a variety of chilaquiles and many other entrees. There are red, green, mole, poblano, and other kinds of chilaquiles from which to choose. I had some with egg, and extra grated cheese and loved it. The ambience is casual but nice. You could go dressed up or casual and fit in. I would have taken more pictures, but I didn't want to be rude to my hosts who invited me. If you like Mexican food and chilaquiles, if you are ever in Guadalajara you need to ensure Los Chilaquiles is on your list of places to go. The service we experienced was first rate. They are located on Avenida Patria in between the Andares Shopping Center and the Plaza Universitaria. There is valet parking.

It was the few restaurants open and on a nice semi quiet street in a gorgeous neighborhood. The food was well balanced and presented carefully. For Americans, they get there water from the 20L plastic jugs that are delivered, so you can drink from the glasses.

After dining in for a Saturday dinner in July, here's our experience: 1) Food: The menu is huge and they serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner any time they are open. That means you can have breakfast for dinner! Although tempting, my small family of three split the pasta and enchiladas suizas. Both were good, but the enchiladas suizas won the cake! The Swiss cheese with the green sauce- wow! I'll crave this! 2) Drinks: They don't have bottled water, but they do serve water in a glass that is filtered and safe to drink. They have Coca-Cola products and lots of beer. My wife and I each got a $90 peso glass of Portuguese white wine. 3) Service: It's friendly, but you may need to flag down your server to order and to get your check if you're in a rush. 4) Space: Funky art decorates the entire space and there's courtyard seating, indoor seating, and patio seating. It's a beautiful space and very peaceful!

The place is is wall to wall tables and they were all filled when I went. They have table clothes (not fancy, but nice) and fried torillas (like chips, except full rounds) on the table with three kinds of salsa. The service was good and the food came out lightening fast. I am a vegan and I went because Yelp says that it is vegan friendly.... which is hard to find in Guadalajara. I only saw one vegan option, which were potato enchiladas. They were good, but they did not blow me away.

We had cafe de olla and some dishes that made for an amazing brunch. We ordered a plate of Arrachera with tortillas and Bistec Encebollado (steak with onions) with beans. On the same plate we had chicharrones en salsa, a breakfast staple in this city. To balance the heavier dishes we had a Jugo Verde drink made from fresh pineapple and parsley. The staff were so friendly, we felt at home with the kind approach and nice ambiance. The decor is traditional and tasteful, we had such a fun experience. We dream of this breakfast and want to return with our sons soon. Try some amazing food here next time you're in Guadalajara, Jalisico Mexico!
