Stopped into this downtown restaurant based on the good reviews. The server immediately brought chips, bean dip, and salsa. The ambiance was low key casual small town cafe style. The fajitas were as good as any I've had, and the portion was large, I took some home. The accompanying corn tortillas were homemade and tasty. Enchilada was a bit thick with cheese, tex mex style or as we say "American Mexican Food style" and the enchilada sauce hit the palate just right. I hate being the skunk at the garden party but . . . Food was excellent, service was very, very good, they make their own tortillas . . . so why not five stars? It's the standard-Mexican-restaurant in America presentation. Rice, beans (cheese on top), and protein. I can't get away from it and there is no percentage rating to fall back on because truthfully this is only a quarter point issue for me but five stars is bigger statement than I am willing to make. FOR THE RECORD - IF YOU ARE A FAN OF THE RICE AND BEANS PRESENTATION, CHEESE AND ALL, THEN THIS PLACE IS FIVE STARS Now down the menu. I love it when, if you are giving me chips, you bring out some beans as well. It allows me to check out the beans without anything distracting me. I love the fact that these clearly were in a large bag of dried beans before being prepared for the customers. You can taste the difference and individual places have individual methods and recipes but the beans are very, very good at Casa Tequila. I think most of us have go-to dishes by which we gauge the quality of a restaurant. (i.e. it is almost impossible, as a sushi restaurant, to get five stars from me if you do not serve toro.) For Mexican restaurants, and for me, this is Chili Verde. I have a paradigmatic restaurant preparation against which all others are compared. Tender juicy pork in a sauce both savory and a little sweet, with a richness that explodes in the mouth. This place has it all. It was exactly what I was hoping for when I walked in. Their house-made hot sauce (not quite habanero hot) was also delicious, with a seared chile flavor, and a good back of the mouth burn. I can't wait to bring the-woman-who-lets-me-live-with-her (thanks Mike) to dinner some time and check out some of her favorites as well! House made tortillas complete the experience, fluffy and soft! I heard this place recently opened, so thought I would try it out since I was in the area. Shockingly, I haven't run across very many fresh, good, quality Mexican restaurants. This place impressed me. Prices were reasonable, customer service was good, and the food was excellent. The building itself doesn't look like much and even the inside is simple. They play Mexican music, but not too loud. When you first sit down they bring out chips, salsa, and beans. The salsa has excellent flavor and isn't watered down. Not too spicy and not mild. The menu had a wide variety of options. I went during lunch so I ordered the Flautas. They were chicken flautas and came with a side of rice and beans. They were so fresh! Nice and crispy and not too greasy. The rice and beans had good flavor. Everything was nice and hot. My meal was roughly $7.99 if I remember correctly. I will say I wasn't a fan of the tap water, but that's not really in their control. I will definitely be back. read more

A hidden gem of a place that the locals visit. Brought my family here based on a recommendation from another yelp referral. Loved the place! The tortilla are homemade and nice and fluffy! The menudo was authentic and came with all the fixings. Reasonable priced for a family outing. The customer service was awesome!
