Overall, I had a positive experience living at this apartment complex. The location is excellent--close to the beach and very convenient to the nearby military base. However, because of the proximity to the base, it's common to hear helicopters during training exercises, and loud vehicles often pass by at all hours. This could be a consideration for those sensitive to noise.
The apartment itself was older, and I did encounter some maintenance issues. For about a month, I needed to call regularly to have various repairs addressed. One of the more concerning problems occurred in December 2024, when I noticed insect droppings falling from the ceiling--some even landing on my child's toys. It took approximately two weeks for an exterminator to come out, and even then, he only assessed the issue and stated he would return the following Monday due to limited scheduling. I felt the situation was not treated with the urgency it required.
Despite this, we are not a family that complains easily, and we generally take these things in stride. The property manager, Karla, was fantastic throughout our stay. She is professional, knowledgeable, and conducted a thorough walkthrough before we moved out. At that time, she informed me of two expected charges: carpet cleaning and painting, both of which I found reasonable. She also complimented the condition of the apartment and the quality of our cleaning.
However, I was disappointed to later find an additional $225 cleaning fee deducted from our security deposit, which had not been previously discussed. In total, $505 was withheld. I would advise future residents to be aware that even with diligent cleaning, additional charges may still apply upon move-out.
In summary, while the location and management have their strengths, and my overall experience was mostly positive, there are a few aspects--especially around maintenance and final billing--that prospective tenants should consider. read more
