We had a sitting area and newly renovated bath. For us, it was very comfortable and very charming. I usually stay in luxury hotels, but decided to try a place that had a more personal feel. I was very happy with my choice and enjoyed chatting with the very knowledgeable manager who lives on site. The other guests seemed well traveled and happy to be there, and the breakfast was varied and delicious. Coming from NYC, noise is never a problem for me as I travel with a white noise machine. Parking was on the street in front of the house, and was not a problem. The day we had to sightsee in Sintra was foggy, but added to the atmosphere of the place. I would like to return in the future to see the sights I did not have time to visit. I really loved Portugal, and varied the accommodations where we stayed. We were very exhausted after being in Lisbon and driving in this mountain-s town to the home. Roads were very narrow and challenging and fun but the care taker showed us where to park which was easy but scary as it was on a hill. Down fall was the home did not have screens on the windows. The home was centuries old and no air conditioning which it didn't need it because the mountain air was nice and cool BUT we got eaten alive by mosquitos in our room. In the middle of the night I turn the lights on and there were about a dozen in the room and we try killing them. It would have been too hot to shut the window, luckily I brought bug spray. The breakfast was normal euro style pastries, then the morning lady care taker reeked of cigarette smoke came in after I was done with my very small breakfast she asked if we wanted an egg. We didn't know that was an option. That was a bummer. Then I noticed the eggs were in her office with her fresh stinky cigarette. I gave it four stars because the place was charming and close to everything we wanted to see. The mosquitos and her cigarette stink was a bummer
