This is a hotspot in Waterloo! Get there early, like 5pm if you have a larger party so you won't have to wait. They do not take reservations. Recently they have updated and remodeled the restaurant expanding seating. It no longer looks like it used to be a DQ. It's really quite pretty. So nice decor, but you're packed in there. On to the food--I'd recommend anything on the menu. Our party of five ordered a wide range of items. All were generous portions and nobody complained. Near ever disappoints!! Had this just yesterday for my office staff and it was a home run hit yet again!!!

Good food, just can't understand why they can't drain the ground beef better. If you order anything that should be crispy (taco salad, tacos, chimichanga, etc) it's soggy from all the Grease makes dinner meh. Service is mediocre. 10% tip for sure. No refills. Had to ask for parts of our order. Bigger tables get all the attention. read more

Came in late afternoon for an early dinner. Ordered drinks and they brought chips right away. Ten minutes later they brought a beer and a coke. We then ordered.....25 minutes no food! There were people coming in to fill the place up and they were getting food but not us (two people) .I ask about it and immediately it coming out of the kitchen and was served. Well.... The food was not even close to being done and not hot at all! They wanted to warm it up! We said NO! I tossed $10 bucks on table for the beer and coke and walked out with a couple of other people that said they will not be back either! As for the food, didn't even get to try the cold Mexican food! Very busy place on the weekend but just a short wait for a table. The restaurant isn't overly large and the noise level is high. Our server was prompt and attentive going above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. We started with the Nachos Supremos. They were loaded with beef, chicken, cheese, sour cream, beans and so on. They were very good and my husband said he would come back just for the nachos! The Barbacoa street tacos I ordered for my entree were very dry and the corn tortillas were too thick. This is my favorite Mexican restaurant in the area. The building is small so be prepared to wait. I've been there on week days and weekends and there is always a wait. The service is quick and chips and salsa always arrive shortly after you're seated. Their salsa is the very best! My husband loves their street tacos and I usually get their nachos and ask for extra salsa to pour on top. The only reason why I did not give them 5 stars is because service can sometimes be spotty. Sometimes we go and our server is attentive. Other times we never see them after our food arrives. They really need a bigger building and more staff to keep up with demand, but food is amazing so we will be back! read more

There's a huge place in town that is a local Mexican chain, but Casa Romero blows them out of the water with food quality. The only downside to this place is that they are always busy (because everyone loves them) and there aren't many seats. If they could expand, they would be the busiest restaurant in town, no problem. I go there about 2x a month food is always good and as busy as they are they get people in and out quickly. The only downfall is you usual have to wait 30-45 minutes for a table on The Weekends. This restaurant has become a destination. My wife and I are here at least once a week and have never had a bad meal. The service is excellent, but expect to wait if you arrive during prime dinner time. The salsa and chips are top notch and you can tell they are fresh made. The menu is large and there it's a section with house specialities that must be tried. Sure, they have the traditional tacos, burritos and enchiladas but the Pollo Jalisco is phenomenal...it's a chicken breast that has been marinated in a sauce made specifically for this dish, then breaded and served covered in Chihuahua cheese and Pico de Gallo. I ordered carry out dinner for my family here Thursday April 22. We had never been and while we won't dine out due to COVID we have been trying to support local, with things like curbside and carry out. I was disappointed when I went in to pick up my food and the dining room was packed, no social distancing and both patrons and employees without masks. I waited in the parking lot in my car and went back in to get my food because it was not ready when promised (not really a big deal) but it meant I was treated to a man whooping in the parking lot "NO MASK THURSDAY!" as he and his friends entered. I had to check in twice with an employee without a mask and then, after all that, close to 1/2 of our order was wrong. They left out our street corn and we did not receive our flautas or beef chimichanga. I called the restaurant requesting a refund for these items and was told a manger would call me. It's now Saturday and I have yet to hear back. The food (what we got of it, we got something none of us recognized I am thinking by mistake in place of one of the other missing items) was ok, but the rest of the experience insured that we won't be back. read more

Had the Fajitas del Pacifico. I was blown away. Tilapia, Shrimp, and crab meat with grilled veggies (broccoli, cauliflower, peppers, and zuchinni). It was all covered in a perfectly balanced pesto habanero sauce. I used the 3 tortillas and had enough on the skillet for 3 more. This was one the best dishes I have had anywhere. I had heard this place had great food, so I thought I would give it a try. It was a Saturday afternoon around 3:00 PM. Patio was nearly empty, we went inside and sat at a table. The place was less than half full, many empty tables. I don't think the service could have been slower if there was a current ice age in progress. Slowest server I've ever had. Nobody ever refilled our soda's, only saw this server 4 times, to sit us, to take an order, to bring the check and then to handle the charge card. We asked another waiter to refill our drinks, I guess the cook brought us our food. Never did get another refill. Food was good Mexican, but there are other options around this area with lower prices. I'm glad I went because now I know, BUT I'm never going back. read more
