From the moment we walked in, the restaurant had a great atmosphere. The decor is beautiful, colorful, and full of character, with a warm and inviting feel throughout the dining room. It is the kind of place that immediately feels comfortable but still looks impressive. Service The service was excellent from start to finish. The owner, Manny, was very attentive and made sure we were well taken care of, which really stood out. Our server, Livier, was also great. She was friendly, helpful, and checked on us throughout the meal without being overbearing. That kind of personal attention makes a big difference and made the whole experience even better. Food I ordered the Cochinita Pibil, and it was amazing. The menu describes it as Yucatan style braised pork served with mild habanero and orange sauce, creamy plantain rice, toasted corn tortillas, and queso fresco. The pork was tender and full of flavor, and the sauce had a great balance. The creamy plantain rice was the highlight for me. It was extraordinary and honestly tasted unlike anything I have had before. It was rich, unique, slightly sweet, and paired perfectly with the pork and tortillas. So good. Atmosphere The restaurant itself is really well done. The decorations, artwork, colors, and layout give it a fun and authentic feel. It is clear that a lot of thought went into the space, and it makes the meal feel like more than just a quick lunch. Final Thoughts Casa Real delivered on food, service, and atmosphere. Manny and Livier made us feel welcome, the restaurant looked great, and the Cochinita Pibil was one of the most memorable Mexican dishes I have had in a while. We recently visited Casa Real and absolutely loved the atmosphere--the decor is beautiful and really sets the vibe for a great dining experience. The service was excellent from start to finish. They offer live music on certain days. We didn't stay for it this time, but the setup looked like it was going to be a great experience, and I'd definitely plan to catch it next visit. As for the food--everything we tried was delicious. My husband ordered the calamari and the wedge salad, and he said it was probably one of the best wedge salads he's ever had. Our daughter had the carne asada tacos and loved them as well. I tried a few different items, but my favorite was hands down the guacamole with crab meat--it was so good and something I'm still thinking about. Overall, such a great experience. I am so excited to post this review. The pescado tacos are beyond good. The flour tortillas were so soft and fresh. The crisp cabbage and and sauce were a perfect complement to the fish. For 17.99 - I expected shredded - should have known better. I've been wanting to try their steak Quesadilla for sometime and today was my first order. I went on their website and picked what I wanted. A Steak and cheese Quesadilla was priced at $11.54 They give you Guacamole but only enough for 1 slice. There wasn't enough pico de gallo for 1/2 a slice so in essence I didn't have any sauces to put on it. When my husband went to pick it up he was charged $18.00. I'm not happy with this situation as on their website it says $11.54. Upon checking Chipotle their Steak Quesadilla is $11.25 and they give you so much Guacamole and different pico de gallos. Let me preface this with I'm not one to leave reviews, regardless of good or bad. Tried Casa Real tonight for Cinco de Mayo and omg we knew it would be busy, but this was next level. We got seated and literally sat there for 15 mins with no menus, no acknowledgment, nothing lol. We finally got up and grabbed menus ourselves. Server eventually came over for drinks, dropped chips/salsa with no waters (the salsa was honestly sooo good), brought drinks back... we handed him the menus thinking we were ordering... and he just walked away Another 20 mins later we had to ask if we could actually order food. We ordered the trio guac appetizer and he even asked if we wanted it before the food. We said yes. AN HOUR later... still no guac We asked THREE times and kept hearing "it's almost done." Sir it's guacamole, not a home renovation project. Meanwhile, we watched multiple tables who came in after us get food, eat, pay, and leave before we even got our appetizer. That's when I asked for the manager because there's no reason it should take 1hr+ for chips and smashed avocado lol. Manager apologized, but honestly there were more excuses than accountability. He stated it's been busy and the kitchen got orders mixed up, but we were right by the kitchen the whole time and never saw anything come back or any confusion. We finally got food 1 hour and 35 mins after sitting down ‍ I swear I've never spent that long waiting for just an app + dinner in my life, even on holidays. Food was super hit or miss: * rice was really good * beans tasted good but tiny portion * soft taco tortillas were AMAZING but the "shredded" chicken was giant chunks so the taco fell apart every bite * crunchy taco shell, was rough... honestly Ortega taco kits at home would've been better, and that's not exactly high praise My bf ordered the Tour of Mexico which didn't come with rice and beans but probably should have. The chile relleno and tamale were really good though. Taquito was dry af, enchilada needed sauce BAD, and the plate was swimming in sour cream / crema. My strawberry margarita tasted like they forgot tequila entirely second margarita was slightly better, only bc its was one of the "specials" Then after the manager said "I'll take care of it," they only took 15% off ‍ which honestly felt insulting after almost 2 hours, forgotten food, zero communication, and nonexistent attentiveness. At that point, most people probably would've gotten up and walked out, and honestly we should have too. What was most frustrating was there was no real effort to make the situation right. No checking on us, no updates, no urgency, nothing. Once they knew we were unhappy, our server basically avoided us the rest of the night. We received our check and literally had our card sitting there forever while he walked past us multiple times. I finally handed it to another server just so we could pay and leave. She gave me some menu recommendations. I ended up ordering a few beef and chicken tacos. The food came quickly and the server checked on me a few times. I liked the fact that this restaurant was able to sub fries for the beans. Unfortunately I was not impressed with this food. The taco sauce was salty as heck and the chicken pieces were cold. Stumbled across Casa Real after only having the cheese fundito at Carolinas Kitchen(we felt bad and felt like we had to order something instead of walking out). What we came across was an actual appetizing menu and a more conventional staples versus your family's favorite tacos. I had ended up getting the carnitas plate and my gf ended up getting the steak fajitas. Everything was delicious and full of flavor. And on top of that, the menu was reasonably priced and the portions were filling. This place is everything that it is and nothing that it's trying to be. The salsa was a mild red salsa. I didn't get too much spice from it! Looking over their lunch specials menu, my husband and I decided to pick out the following Fiesta Lunch: $13.99 - One Chicken Tamale, One Beef Taco, One Cheese Enchilada, Rice and Beans. Lunch Fajitas: $17.99 Chicken Fajitas, serviced with rice, beans lettuce, Pico de Gallo, Sour Cream, and 2 Tortillas For an appetizer, we ended up getting some guacamole! The guacamole came out immediately! It was actually the best dish that we had at Casa Real! It was mixed with avocados, onions, and tomatoes, and had perfect seasonings in it! It was delicious! Shortly afterward, our entrees came out. My husband had the Fiesta Lunch. All of the parts of the dish were good. The highlight of it was the enchilada. The flavor was scrumptious! The Chicken Fajitas were burnt, unfortunately! I was so looking forward to the Chicken Fajitas! All of the chicken tasted like rubber. The sour cream was missing as well from the Fajita plate. When I asked for a side of sour cream from the team member, they ended up charging us an additional $1.50 for the sour cream even though it was supposed to be included in the Fajitas! We live right in the Craig and Tenaya area, and there is a sudden burst of new Mexican restaurants in the area! Casa Real is a real one though, with happy hour and lunch specials (Monday through Saturday til 2), and a large menu of options. The location is also welcoming and decorated with care, and a recent visit had a variety of dia de los muertos statues on display. Service was polite and professional. They have tables and booths, and we were seated in a large corner booth since we had a stroller and child with us. They brought out fresh chips and salsa to start. We tried a couple of the lunch specials (Fiesta combo and Pollo Loco?) and enjoyed what we had - portions are generous, and the cheese dip on the chicken was tasty. My husband enjoyed the tamale on the combo plate, but I did not care for the red sauce on the enchilada. The tortillas were a touch oily but the flavors of everything else were pretty on point. I may come back to try some of the more unique options in the Chef's Specials section of the menu. The location is super convenient, so we are likely to be back for more. read more

The flavor was okay but it was so dry and overcooked I could not eat it. I probably should have said something but I felt so bad I couldn't. The rice and beans were bomb!!! Really flavorful and perfect texture. The food came out at room temperature (except fajitas) so having it served nice and hot would have probably made this a better experience. The beer was frosty cold and the fish bowl margarita was nice and strong. The chips and salsa were fresh and tasty. We ordered Cheese Dip with Chorizo, and it was not really blended. Half was a soup, half was a glob of cheese goo. It tasted ok, just not consistent. We then went with the Shrimp Plate and the Molcajete. The sauce on the shrimp was outstanding, but the shrimp was very mushy and hard to peel away from the shell. I ended up eating the shell on most pieces. The Molcajete was huge and nicely prepared. Recently opened, this place is a gem in the northwest part of the valley! Casa Real is located in the Albertsons/Starbucks lot off of the Craig & 95 exit. I'm a lover of sports, so anytime I can stay tuned into a match or a game while grabbing a bite, I'm super happy. The restaurant has several booths and tables, but my favorite is the bar top. Upon walking in, we were greeted by several team members. After self-seating at the bar counter, we were additionally greeted and it was very welcoming. The draft beer came out in a super cold frosty mug which was excellent. We received complimentary chips and salsa and the salsa was tasty - really good! The portions are big, so as a party of two, we decided to order the Hawaiian Fajitas which had a unique combination of ingredients - chicken, bacon, pineapple, bell peppers and onions. The fajitas came out sizzling hot! It was a big mound of food and it was delicious. Fajitas come with three tortillas and you can certainly order more tortillas as needed. We were too full to order dessert, but looking at the menu, I've already eyed a few things that I want to try. They just started Sundays-only brunch as well with its own special menu so they open at 8am for brunch and it ends at noon. Mimosa lovers should definitely try brunch. Keep this note handy: I hear that the restaurant may be extending their hours as the weather gets warmer and hopefully in the summer, the extended hours will stay. There was 1 front end staff & he did a great job courteous & busy (not in a bad way) Food was out quickly & very flavorful. We came here on a Wednesday night and it wasn't too packed but it was football night and my dad is a big sports guy lol. He happily sat himself near the tvs so he had a perfect view and the staff were more than accommodating letting us select our seats. Their menu has many options to choose from. They also have a great drink menu option as well from beers, to frozen margaritas. ( pro tip - happy hour is 2-5pm!) For food I tried the ceviche trio with Ceviche of Camaron, Ceviche of pescado and Ceviche Real. They were all delicious and had great flavors. They start you off with complimentary chips and salsa. (not the best but also not the worst....still complimentary so.....that's ok) I think I hit one of the gems on the menu.....The salmon a la plancha.....It's also generously sized but what makes it special are all the delicious flavors.....Smashed pumpkin seeds. really great plantains, mango salsa, another salsa, fresh asparagus, a white rice that was slightly sweet and slightly risotto like. This really was a great plate and could easily be in a very fine very expensive restaurant. It was very good but would have been outstanding if the salmon was cooked slightly less. I would still come back and get it again because of the flavors. My husband tried a combo fajita (beef, chicken, shrimp). It was also very generous in size.
