I went there yesterday after months of not going and I don't know if they sold but the bread was old not le before you will order Cuban bread and it was fluffy and hot . I was surprised by this . And I told the attendant 2 dollars in tip and she went ahead and put down 3 dollars . All I got was a bread a 2 meat pastry . No doubt my favorite bakery in Hialeah! This bakery has been around forever. I remember getting treats here with my parents, and more recently, I remember stopping by here before road trips back to my college town of Gainesville to get food. These days, being out of college and back in Hialeah, it seems I stop by at least once or twice a month. That being said, this bakery is in a shopping plaza that happens to be in front of a Sedano's. It is usually packed! Hence, good luck with parking! I typically drive around once or twice before I happen to find myself a space. Let me tell you though that this place is worth it. They are open every day, usually until 7 PM or so. More surprising still, they are open on holidays. In fact, yesterday was Thanksgiving and they were open! Better still, their food as always was super fresh. My friend and I made out like bandits. We ordered a pan con tortilla with everything except ham. My friend was shocked by its size! Other than that, we had two large café con leche with sugar, which made me super happy as it was a nice break from Starbucks. Oh, and we also got chicken croquettes and cheese pastries. A huge beef empanada was also bought. Needless to say, we were everywhere! And obviously, we still have food left over the next day! Yay! Okay seriously, before I forget, this place doesn't have a minimum to use a card, but believe me you'll wish it did or at the very least you'll wish you had cash. Variety of options! Clean for the most part. Pan con lechon and soooo many Cuban pastries. The ladies are cool. The croquettas de la casa are great. This used to be one of my favorite bakeries. I used to go often but I had not been back in a while. Today I went and was more than disappointed. If I could give a negative 5 star review I would. I spent $18 on what I thought was the same quality desserts as usual. The desserts that I bought were old and disgusting. One of the desserts was salty. not being really concern about calorie counting this morning, i swung by this Hialeah bakery on my way into work... this a place where if you come several times, the great ladies working there seem to remember you in the future and know exactly how you take your cortadito!!! the bread here is delicious... a cuban tostada is done with lots of butter and if you like, toasted to a nice crunchy consistence where the butter completely melts onto every piece of the toast!!! the pastelitos, even thou sometimes have been served cold, they are good.... and if you dare take home a small container of their pastica de bocadito - this is the delicious filling used in those small bread sandwiches served at your friend's kid birthday party - this darn thing is so addicting!! you can not just have one you end up eating the whole box! it is truly one of the best i have tasted. i am also a great fan of their pan con tortilla - it is big enough to share - you just have to ask for the tomatoes cause if you do not, they are left out... it is one of many bakeries in our city, but i can say it does have a very nice group of ladies who work there..... and to be that is a great part which keeps me coming back..... read more
