Excellent supermarket for locals and visitors to the beach side area of Puerto Morelos!…read moreWe stopped in because our parents needed to pick up a few essentials after visiting the nearby tourist spots, so we enjoyed a good look throughout the store. Visiting supermarkets is one of our favorite travel experiences wherever we are in the world! Much like most grocery and drug store chains in the US, Super Chedraui accepts cash and Visa, and has a broad range of products and services: - Local and imported grocery items, including a large variety of both unique simple ingredients and processed/ pre-packaged products... - Meats and dairy... - Broad selections of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, including juices, coffees, teas and a large variety of electrolyte drinks for rehydrating after a long day of adventuring in the tropics (or partying too hard on spring break or getting a bout of the storied Montezuma's revenge)... - Snacks like chips, cookies and crackers... - Candies! Fun candies! Fancy candies!Ordinary candies! North American candies! European candies! Asian candies!! - Farmacía/ Pharmacy with OTC and prescription meds that are OTC in Mexico... - Souvenirs and beachgoing goods... - Bakery & cafe... - ATMs from a few different banks... And Bonus -- right out front is a pet watering station with shade, artificial turf, little dog water fountains shaped like fire hydrants and bowls! All in all, Chedraui is a great little stop for anything you might have forgotten to bring on your trip groceries to cook up between outings, basic first aid supplies or to get some tasty, unique gifts for your friends back home!

My friends and I stopped by this place to grab snacks and drinks before heading to the dock for an afternoon boat ride. I also picked up a hat because...why not! The signs may display things with the "$" before it but trust me... it's all in Pesos. They also have a hot food stand immediately to the left when you walk in the door if you're wanting a quick snack.

Good selection of fruits and vegetables - we love the guavas, mangos, and carrots the most! They taste so fresh and more flavorful than what we get in the US. Decent selection of meat, dairy, snacks, cereal, etc too! They have a bakery (with fresh tortillas), pharmacy, a touristy area (bathing suits, shirts, souvenirs, etc), and an area that has prepped food items. They also have a decent alcohol/beer area. Prices are way better than what they charge at the hotel (though you're likely paying for convenience there). Highly recommend this treat to pick up items! This is on the top floor of a shopping mall, though the mall itself has few store these days.

It's located in a shopping mall that seems to be having some occupancy issues, but has an absolutely beautiful atrium, with a decorated dome, fountains- It's amazing! The shopping is a bit rough- it's not exactly the cheapest place to shop in Mexico. It's not the most expensive- that honor seems to belong to the other grocery up the road a mile or two and the Cancun Pointe. The aisles are a bit jammed together, and they certainly cater to the gringo tourista. They have new swimsuits, hats, sunglasses, plenty of cerveza, tequila, mixers, and food. A bakery section offers pan dulces and a variety of things to make sandwiches with. There's a bunch of bottled water, and everything you need to feel at home. I kinda don't care for how they seem to organize this place- whatever they're doing, I haven't figured it out yet. The prices were okay, the selection okay. Okay!

It's a regular supermarket, but I suspect that the locals don't shop here at all. The prices are pretty high, and much of the food isn't quite practical. This is a two story grocery store- not counting the parking. Be sure that you don't miss the top floor, where all the liquor and food hall is. Nom! Parking is on the bottom floor. They sell you validation at the cash register. Beware- the grocery bagger is looking for tips. My favorite part of the supermarket is all the cheap Mexican gifts they sell, with clearly marked prices. Actually, many of them are cheaper than the flea market down the way, because you don't have to haggle and deal with the cat calls from the clerks. Beware of the touts selling excursions and whatnot at the entrance. Just because they're in a supermarket doesn't mean they can't take advantage of gringos. This supermarket gets awfully busy in the afternoon. The aisles are narrow. It's best to come at an off time.
