We came to this restaurant for lunch. They don't have a menu per se, they charge a fixed amount per person and they serve whatever dishes they've decided upon that day based on what's available in the kitchen or in season. Of course they ask about any food allergies or restrictions and accommodate those if/as possible. The fixed rate includes several appetizers, fish and meat entrees and dessert. Alcohol is separate. The food was outstanding and there was so.much.food! We definitely were stuffed but thoroughly enjoyed our meals. I really liked the huevos rotos and the potato salad with gambas. The beef (chuleton) was way too undercooked for my liking. Their tiramisu was outstanding, better than some we had in certain restaurants in Italy. We also drank some pretty killer wines as recommended by Elias, the owner. He actually listed some of the wines he had available in his cellar and we were pretty impressed with the selection he offered (he mentioned some pretty high end wines). Now, none of these wines are on a list or menu, you sort of just have to discuss your preferences with him and he'll bring you out something he thinks you may like based on that. Elias was very nice and gracious, he gave us some local wine as parting gifts which was a nice gesture. If you're in Ronda do make it a point to dine here at least once.

Simply amazing and totally unique. This spot has a pre set menu that changes every day. The food is all local and authentic to this area of Spain. The food was all exquisite. The service (one of the servers was Maria the namesake of the restaurant) was really Amazing. I would recommend you make a reservation here if you can because there is only one sitting per night and very limited tables.

The meal was divine! Don't be scared away by the chefs menu. Everything they brought was perfection. I didn't take photos of everything, but dessert was tiramisu and a leche mousse with cream cheese icing and pistachio. Then, the server sent us on our way with a complementary bottle of wine for later. Such a lovely afternoon in the plaza.

After a long morning of exploring Ronda, we stumbled across Casa Maria for lunch. We spent a week in Málaga, and every time we think about our trip the experience from the restaurant always comes up. There is no set menu, you are served what it is they have decided to have lined up for the day based on fresh ingredients. This took the pressure off of deciding what to order and opened our minds for new tastes. There was an abundance of food, but we cleaned every single plate laid in front of us. Had we been in Ronda longer during our visit, we would have gone here every day. We even left with a bottle of wine to enjoy later! Great food, amazing staff. Can't wait to come back!

Marvelous food! So pleased to have stopped into this place. while I was able to get a table with no reservation, it is a smaller space so would recommend getting one if you can! Had the un poco de todo, 'a little bit of everything'. And everything was delicious! Tomato toast, Foie gras with goat cheese and apple, the Goat cheese in pastry with fig/strawberry jam, asparagus with honey mustard, a dish called 'rapo' it's a fish, Scallops in squash sauce and finished with Boca (local beef with salsa). Great meal, amazing service. Our waitress was friendly, explained everything and was very welcoming. Thank you!

The place was good, but certainly not spectacular as its current ratings might suggest. Situated on the far south side of Ronda in a nondescript square at the edge of town, Casa Maria is a big hit with the international crowd. From the postcards from every edge of the globe on the first floor wall, to the gruff German spoken by the two adjacent tables, you can tell who their audience is. They make a big show out of their meal, which is something you don't normally get from your standard impersonal, yet professional Spanish waiter. It's very obvious that the owners put a lot of effort into the restaurant's image. To be fair, the food is good. It's not spectacular, but it's solid. Me and the rest of my family got the "poco de todo", which, as the name suggests, was a broad sampler of plates. But nothing was really memorable. It seems like a number of guests followed the owner's exhortation to post a tripadvisor/yelp review, but I doubt this place would even be on the map otherwise.

Elias and Maria created the best experience for our wedding anniversary. We had a 4 course dinner and everyone of them was to die for. If you go to Ronda make reservations because this place is the best in town!

We had an extravagant and fabulous lunch here. The menu and meal are set by the owner, which means you eat what they provide. And it is very tasty and generous! White wine will be given as a gift for lunch. The owner is very nice! Please don't waste food. Everything is sabroso! Bravo!

The tomato toast was the best we had in south of Spain. The pork and potato dish were delightful.

The only thing this restaurant is missing is a Michelin Star! The taste, the quality of food, the service was superb.

Guillermo Lorenzo is a small-scale worker of miracles…read more Guillermo is the chef and proprietor at De Locos Tapas, and what he does at this tiny spot is difficult to believe until you experience it. He is the owner, chef, front-of-the-house guy, and server, all at the same time. How a guy who wears so many hats manages to conceive of and produce such a large variety of small-scale gourmet items at prices this low is beyond me. Our first encounter with Mr. Lorenzo actually wasn't too great. I'd earlier attempted to reserve a table through De Locos's website, but never received a response (we were in Spain without phone service, so I couldn't call ahead, and we'd just arrived at our hotel). So we trekked over to the restaurant without a reservation and waited around for the place to open at 7:30 pm in order to try our luck. When we walked in and explained our situation, Mr. Lorenzo frankly was not very friendly or welcoming, even though no other diners were present at the time. But he led us upstairs to a table nonetheless, explaining that he would need our table by 9:30. As soon as we were seated, though, the rather surly version of Mr. Lorenzo switched off like a light, and the excellent, gregarious impresario version of Mr. Lorenzo switched on. What happened over the next couple of hours was just about the best dining experiences we'd ever had at prices this low. He brought us plate after plate of wonderfully composed and almost uniformly delicious, mostly non-traditional tapas, which we ordered off of a handwritten-in-English menu (see the attached photos). While simultaneously perfectly pacing everything and playing the consummate cosmopolitan, hospitable, charming restaurant host. (A native of Bilbao with a globe-trotting resume and excellent English, he told us former New Orleans residents that his grandmother was born in New Orleans.) I've attached photos of the menu from that night, and, frankly, at this late date, I can't remember everything we had. But the ox cheeks, lamb tagine, smoked duck, oyster Bloody Mary, seabass ceviche, and red tuna tataki stood out. Everything was terrific, though, with the possible exception of the piquillo pepper stuffed with crab, which was just kind of mushy. We're not the biggest dessert eaters, but the Bailey's ice cream was terrific as well. All of this beautiful stuff, plus a couple of drinks each, set us back less than 40 euro, which just seems like an impossibly good deal. P.S. De Locos isn't all that easy to find if you're staying in the main, touristy part of Ronda. You've got to head south down the main road from the old town toward the Barrio San Francisco. Just before the road bends right as you're looking at the rather imposing Iglesia del Espiritu Santo, drop down the "ramp" on the left to the Calle Espiritu Santo, which leads to a little triangular square just inside the wall. When you get to the square, hang a left. De Locos is a the end of the row of buildings, facing the wall and square. (We went on All Saints Day, missed the "ramp," and ended up in the big square in San Francisco, where masses of locals were assembled for festivities. That got us totally turned around...)

I had a lovely meal here, large part of it which was due to the friendliness of the owner. I was…read moreable to grab the last open table (outside) as a solo diner, but would definitely recommend making a reservation as I saw multiple parties get turned away. The menu seems to have not changed much over the years, so many of the older reviews hold true. I started with a drink of sangria which I would skip if doing it again (it's a large drink and on the more liquor heavy side). I got (from most to least favorite): Foie gras - Don't miss this. Yes you can get foie gras everywhere but the one here is stellar. Perfectly seared, juicy and sprinkled with a few grains of salt, and paired with a passion fruit sorbet (tbh could have done without the sorbet). I was skeptical about ordering this but wow it was so good. Smoked duck carpaccio - The smoked duck on its own was good but not stunning, but when eaten as it's meant to be eaten (on top of toast and sweet jam), it's delicious. Recommended. Truffle eggs - I like soft boiled eggs and tbh this was just a good soft boiled egg. Didn't taste much truffle but did taste the jamon on top. Yummy but not a must get. Beef cheek - Conflicted about this one, the beef was very tender and very good, but it had an odd flavor that I didn't love. Also on the heavier end, and by the time I got to this dish, I was pretty stuffed so couldn't eat much of it. Quail's nest - I got this more for the novelty as I saw many photos of it. Pretty but not super flavorful, and hard to eat. Finished with the chocolate truffles, which are covered with dried mangos. They were good (rich and chocolately) but not something mind blowing as some reviews led me to believe. All in all, I enjoyed my meal here, and prices are quite affordable given what they're trying to do. In general, felt like they were trying to do a twist on each dish, which was appreciated, even if they didn't always work. But it's a refreshing find to find something like this in a small town like Ronda.
