There were absolutely no spices in the food-missing were cumin, cilantro, chili, etc. Mexican food doesn't have to be hot, but it does typically have intense flavors to it. This was totally bland. Anyway, as I checked and and paid the bill, the cashier asked if I had enjoyed the food. I told her this was not typically the Mexican food we were used to in the West. She said that that was true, but what they served worked in the Midwest. And she's right. The restaurant has received a lot of good reviews on Yelp.
