Stopped by at Casa Jimenez with one mission: carne asada nachos!!!! And not the sad, soggy kind..... but the kind that makes you enjoy every bite of deliciousness!!! First things first, I did a quick bean interrogation (as one does). Asked if they used lard, got a confident "no," and honestly... the beans backed him up!! No weird aftertaste, just straight-up tasty beans!! Thank you for not putting lard in the beans!! The carne asada was generous!! Not one of those restaurants doing a cost-saving plan situations. And the chips were thin, crispy, and holding it together like absolute champs under all that delicious chaos!! Bonus: Taco Tuesday exists, which feels like a sign I need to come back and continue my research... purely for scientific purposes, of course!!! :) read more

We have been driving past this restaurant for years and decided to try it out for lunch. When got seated in a booth. The first thing we noticed was how hot it was. It must have been 80-85 degrees inside. Too hot to enjoy lunch. I asked the waiter if the air conditioner was working. I could not hear his mumbled response. The AC never came on the whole time we were there. We ordered and soon afterwords received our lunch. As the waiter is putting the plate on the table in front of me, enchilada sauce is spilling out on the floor and on table in front of me. Did he offer to clean up the spill on the table? No. I had to clean it up with their ridiculously tissue paper thin napkins. Nor did he clean up the spill on the floor. As I was eating; I ended up killing a few ants wondering around on the table. Where is there is one ant there is more. Makes me wonder if there were more ants under the table on the floor or something. The food was just ok. The service was just ok too. We will not be going back. read more

I feel bad for giving it 1 star so the second star is just that. It's hot as balls in there making it extremely uncomfortable to eat in this heat. The food is sub par - not authentic at all. Service was slow as balls too. They dropped my food off and were never again to be seen. Ok - they came back but it was like 15 mins after food was dropped with no other customers around AND no water on this hot as balls day. Check took even longer when all I wanted to do was leave. Last visit, promise! Oh also - if you're one of those that hate when they tack on the credit card processing fee on the bill - they do that too. read more

The vibes of this location is calming and relaxing. I love the photos and Christmas tree. Food is much better than Mexico Cafe. I came in for $2 taco Tuesday, options are asada & carnitas. I will say I'm so happy Liz suggested the taquitos and I'm happy that I could split chicken and beef so I wouldn't have to choose. The tortillas are very authentic and homemade. The chips were absolutely delicious. Service was phenomenal. I will have to remember to make the drive across town. read more

I was disappointed, I thought California was known for their authentic Mexican food. The people were nice enough. I get it, the place was hot and people get tired of greeting people. We're human, but I spent $15 for a single enchilada with rice and beans. I was thinking when I ordered there was no way I'd just be a single tortilla enchilada but it was, there was nobody else there so I didn't say anything or take a picture, the ambiance and food was very sad. read more

Service - 1 star - given an initial drink at the bar when I first walked in. Tim still going as I leave this review 18 minutes later and no one else spoke to me. Done my best to try to catch people back-and-forth unable to even get a basket of chips or salsa or a menu to decide on food. Hopefully somebody comes by so I can at least cash out and leave. Drink - 3 star - Margarita was not good or bad. It was just a mediocre margarita but of course it came obtains alcohol so that's always a positive. Nothing wrong with it but nothing special at the same time. Good - not Reed because I was never able to get a menu during my time at this is Aaron. This place is convenient, but unfortunately, the staff really made this a poor visit. read more

Casa Jimenez - No employees, no menu no way to even pay my tab. Maybe this drinks on the house? - Mexican Near Me - Murrieta, California

I just had the most bizarre solo restaurant experience. My first time dining at this restaurant. My server brought over my drink and placed it on the opposite side of my table as far away as possible from my seat. I had to get up and grab it. When my hot plate entree was served a bit later she did the same. I asked if she could please bring it closer as it was very hot. She went ahead and grabbed it but this time she placed it in the middle of my table and not in front of me so I could eat. I ordered a chile relleno and beef enchiladas 3 item plate with rice and beans. Rice and beans were okay. The red and green salsas tasted like they came from a can. I wasn't served tortillas. They never came. When my waitress finally asked if I needed anything I was done eating. Tamarindo agua fresca is very sugary and not flavorful like it should be. Not a good experience at all. The restaurant was not busy when I was there which was just before lunchtime. I don't recommend it. Service is lousy. My young female server needs proper training. It is not my intention to be mean but she has the personality of a flat toothpick. I have never not left a tip but I'm considering not tipping her. Music genre is fun but is too loud you have to yell to be heard. read more

This was our first time at this location, and unfortunately, it will be our last. The service was great, but the food was disappointing. My chile verde plate tasted like the pork came from a can, and the beans had an old flavor. My husband's flauta plate wasn't any better, the beef tasted old and lacked flavor. To top it off, $13 for a small bowl of guacamole felt unreasonable. Definitely not worth the price. read more

You really can't appreciate GOOD service until you go somewhere that has HORRIBLE service. My family and I tried a more local restaurant with the same NAME. The name was the ONLY thing in common. The Menifee version of this restaurant is downright ATROCIOUS. See my review of them to see what and why but back to THIS "Casa".. This one - in Murietta - has a waiter that can REMEMBER ALL of your order! If you're in doubt, I believe he works early afternoons. I was totally skeptical myself, but it was TRUE! Besides the waiter, the food was GREAT, never left feeling like I wanted more from a meal. I gave a negative review on that restaurant, I thought it only fair to leave a positive review on this one. Keep up the good work, bc we will GLADLY make the drive to your restaurant after dining at the one in Menifee. read more

Over priced, lunch special was like a frozen dinner taco, $9.00 for a draft course, less than $1.00 out of a bottle really, they changed another $1.25 for onions on a enchilada, wow! 3% extra to use you credit card, again I wish I had not stopped there, Bill was$35.62 for a crappy lunch special. read more

We hadn't been here in awhile and we're so glad we came back. As of recently, Casa Jimenez Jefferson is under new ownership and it's made a huge difference! First time at this Casa Jimenez on Jefferson. The food was amazing compared to the Casa Jimenez in Cal Oaks. Every restaurant has its flaws or the good cooks had the day off. . This one, the music was way too loud and our server could have been a little bit more friendlier. He wasn't rude nor welcoming. He was just there colleting a pay check. The food; probably one of the best. The beans were excellant. The chips were nice and hot. Great meal. just the music. Like I said, it was beyond loud. read more

We stopped by here on a weekday evening. Place was practically empty. We got seated right away. The menu they gave us was rather lite (the black one) and not the bigger menu you see on other pics. Don't know what's up with that (maybe when it's slow, that's the menu that is offered). The food was OK, kind of lacking flavor. Their salsa was kinda like a watered down picante type. Service was good, but don't know if we'll be back. read more

Will not be coming here again ordered Cocido all of the veggies were under cook. Couldn't cut through the potato, carrot or chayote. The meat was super greasy had a lot of fat on it. Very disappointed we were only able to eat the corn and take a few sips of the soup. The soup was incredibly tasteless and had a lot of the fat from the meat floating on it. There was only one server working she was doing the best she could . It was apparent she was a bit overwhelmed so we didn't say anything to her. Was hoping to like this place. ZERO! This place is a JOKE! It is hotter inside the restaurant than outside. I asked about the air conditioning and I was told both (2) air conditioners were broken. RED FLAG, they can't afford to get them fixed! Tell the truth! BS! Who wants to go out to eat in the HOT BAKING OVEN RESTAURANT!!!! The Happy Hour drinks are watered down and full of ice cubes. One sip and it is gone. The Margaritas were all sour mix and no taste of tequila! What a joke! No one likes to get JIPPED! The salsa is REUSED/RECYCLED because it is like water! It was HORRIBLE. The worst I ever tasted! Pure tomatoed water! DISCUSTING!!! This place needs to be inspected by the health dept. ASAP! We ordered oysters and they smelled ROTTEN, and they STUNK! My son threw up as soon as we got home!!!! I will be notifying the Health Department of unsafe food products. How do people like this stay in business when they are so dishonest and unethical? read more

Food was cooked and prepared well, restaurant was clean and well kept, good music TV's and atmosphere, my server Omar was quick and attentive. Definitely will be coming back, great prices too and taco Tuesday is only $1.50. read more

In response to Omar: you actually didn't correct the nacho price. It remained the same so you did not honor the $6.99 price which is on your sign, on your website, and was said by your server. False advertising. Your other server with the "cash comment" was not talking to another guest, they were walking by. You were extremely dismissive, disrespectful, and condescending. Had you explained the drinks the way you just did in your response, we would've understood but the way you spoke to us in person and laughed in our face completely set the tone for everything else that followed afterward. I see you still have no explanation for shorting us on our change. You have alot of work to do to save your reputation as I can see we've had a similar experience as most other people who visit this despicable restaurant. I would give this place ZERO stars if I could. Our server was hardly around at all. We didn't get any drink refills and she took forever to take our order. The place was practically empty so why did it take so long? Then when we received the check, we realized the happy hour price of the nachos wasn't 6.99, we were charged $8. We were also charged more for kids drinks than adult drinks! How does that even make sense when kids drinks are way smaller! Then we saw we were charged for soda water. I have neverrr had to pay for carbonated water! When we tried to address this with the server she was nowhere to be found. So we asked a random server and he brought over the manager named Omar who laughed in our faces and said he would only fix $1 off our bill for the nachos. He tried to explain that if an adult was to order an orange or apple juice, they would put it in a kids sized cup and still charge more for it. Make it make sense. I flat out refused to pay for the drinks and explained our horrible service with the waitress and he just continued to laugh and stood there waiting for my card. I said I would only pay cash. Then finally he comped the drinks (when he realized I was serious) and printed a receipt for only the food, totally at $28.26. I gave him $30 cash. He brings me $1. He goes back to the host stand and I said "where's the rest of my change?" He laughed again (in front of other customers btw) and said he didn't have change. How are you a restaurant without change?! I was a server for many years and ALWAYS had change and cash on me. This guy was really trying to pull a fast one on us. On top of his condescending attitude, I didn't appreciate a server walking by saying "who carries cash these days?" umm you do as a SERVER!! He finally gave me another dollar. But wtf. Why did any of this have to be so complicated?! Omar is the worst manager and needs to be fired. The staff also needs to be trained to be professional. Don't go here if you want to deal with incompetent idiots. This restaurant is a rip off, filthy, and the music is wayyy too loud. We could hardly talk to each other. read more

First time visiting this location. I have been to one other and I have to say, the food is consistently amazing. I really love the food and I know you will agree. I had the shredded beef chimichanga. The beans and rice are great. I always say; if the beans are great, the rest will be great. And this very true here. Alex was our server. He's young and carries himself that way. Not rude but very very casual. He was prompt and attentive. And accurate. That's all we can ask. Try this place and you won't be disappointed. Enjoy! read more

We eat regularly at the other location in Murrieta, never any issues and customer service is always on point. Wish I could say the same for the Jefferson location. Although food and drinks were good PLEASE BE CARFEFUL paying with bank card or credit card at this location. We believe our card was compromised at this location. We use the same card every time we go out to eat. Last time we used this card was a week prior until today. About three hours after using our card at this location we started getting notifications from our bank. Someone had used our card number and information to try and purchase products and knives From companies located in Canada. When visiting this restaurant, I recommend you paying with cash only. Our bank is investigating and we did get the information from the companies that the card was used to try and purchase items. read more

First of all you can't miss the immediate recognition coming in the door with outstanding customer service. Menu has a lot of favorites to choose from. My first time here I tried the Machaca breakfast burrito. My order was for takeout and unfortunately I had to wait 35 minutes for my burrito which I think is unacceptable. Other than that the burrito was probably the best Machaca breakfast burrito I've ever eaten. Salsa was a mild medium red and all I can say is I'm going back for more but probably will make sure I call my order in ahead of time. Again customer service was great. It's my dad's favorite local Mexican place and has been for years. I just met him for lunch today and the place has changed. The food is still decent and service is good, but there are huge TVs everywhere (to show music videos) and the music was extremely loud. It has a club-like atmosphere now, which would be great in the evening for drinks, but not at noon on a Tuesday. We had to strain to have a conversation. Maybe new ownership? We asked the server is it was possible to drop the volume a bit and he said he would attempt to ask management. I'm not sure he did or maybe the management didn't hear him over the bass..... We miss the family atmosphere. Maybe chill it out until happy hour? read more
