First things first, I did a quick bean interrogation (as one does). Asked if they used lard, got a confident "no," and honestly... the beans backed him up!! No weird aftertaste, just straight-up tasty beans!! Thank you for not putting lard in the beans!! The carne asada was generous!! Not one of those restaurants doing a cost-saving plan situations. And the chips were thin, crispy, and holding it together like absolute champs under all that delicious chaos!! I feel bad for giving it 1 star so the second star is just that. It's hot as balls in there making it extremely uncomfortable to eat in this heat. The food is sub par - not authentic at all. Service was slow as balls too. They dropped my food off and were never again to be seen. Ok - they came back but it was like 15 mins after food was dropped with no other customers around AND no water on this hot as balls day. Check took even longer when all I wanted to do was leave. The vibes of this location is calming and relaxing. I love the photos and Christmas tree. Food is much better than Mexico Cafe. I came in for $2 taco Tuesday, options are asada & carnitas. I will say I'm so happy Liz suggested the taquitos and I'm happy that I could split chicken and beef so I wouldn't have to choose. The tortillas are very authentic and homemade. I just had the most bizarre solo restaurant experience. My first time dining at this restaurant. My server brought over my drink and placed it on the opposite side of my table as far away as possible from my seat. I had to get up and grab it. When my hot plate entree was served a bit later she did the same. I asked if she could please bring it closer as it was very hot. She went ahead and grabbed it but this time she placed it in the middle of my table and not in front of me so I could eat. I ordered a chile relleno and beef enchiladas 3 item plate with rice and beans. Rice and beans were okay. The red and green salsas tasted like they came from a can. I wasn't served tortillas. They never came. When my waitress finally asked if I needed anything I was done eating. Tamarindo agua fresca is very sugary and not flavorful like it should be. Not a good experience at all. The restaurant was not busy when I was there which was just before lunchtime. I don't recommend it. Service is lousy. My young female server needs proper training. It is not my intention to be mean but she has the personality of a flat toothpick. I have never not left a tip but I'm considering not tipping her. This was our first time at this location, and unfortunately, it will be our last. The service was great, but the food was disappointing. My chile verde plate tasted like the pork came from a can, and the beans had an old flavor. My husband's flauta plate wasn't any better, the beef tasted old and lacked flavor. This one - in Murietta - has a waiter that can REMEMBER ALL of your order! If you're in doubt, I believe he works early afternoons. I was totally skeptical myself, but it was TRUE! In response to Omar: you actually didn't correct the nacho price. It remained the same so you did not honor the $6.99 price which is on your sign, on your website, and was said by your server. False advertising. Your other server with the "cash comment" was not talking to another guest, they were walking by. You were extremely dismissive, disrespectful, and condescending. Had you explained the drinks the way you just did in your response, we would've understood but the way you spoke to us in person and laughed in our face completely set the tone for everything else that followed afterward. I see you still have no explanation for shorting us on our change. I would give this place ZERO stars if I could. Our server was hardly around at all. We didn't get any drink refills and she took forever to take our order. We were also charged more for kids drinks than adult drinks! How does that even make sense when kids drinks are way smaller! Then we saw we were charged for soda water. He goes back to the host stand and I said "where's the rest of my change?" He laughed again (in front of other customers btw) and said he didn't have change. How are you a restaurant without change?! I was a server for many years and ALWAYS had change and cash on me. This guy was really trying to pull a fast one on us. On top of his condescending attitude, I didn't appreciate a server walking by saying "who carries cash these days?" umm you do as a SERVER!! He finally gave me another dollar. But wtf. We eat regularly at the other location in Murrieta, never any issues and customer service is always on point. Wish I could say the same for the Jefferson location. Although food and drinks were good PLEASE BE CARFEFUL paying with bank card or credit card at this location. We believe our card was compromised at this location. We use the same card every time we go out to eat. Last time we used this card was a week prior until today. About three hours after using our card at this location we started getting notifications from our bank. Someone had used our card number and information to try and purchase products and knives From companies located in Canada. When visiting this restaurant, I recommend you paying with cash only. Our bank is investigating and we did get the information from the companies that the card was used to try and purchase items. read more

First of all you can't miss the immediate recognition coming in the door with outstanding customer service. Menu has a lot of favorites to choose from. My first time here I tried the Machaca breakfast burrito. My order was for takeout and unfortunately I had to wait 35 minutes for my burrito which I think is unacceptable. Other than that the burrito was probably the best Machaca breakfast burrito I've ever eaten. I've lived in the area for 10 years and have not heard or read good reviews about this location. I pass it twice a day and rarely see cars parked in their parking lot. Due to time constraints and limited choices in the area, I took my son here to cool off and get a meal during a short break he had working a 14-hour shift outdoors. It was over 100 degrees that day and cooler outside than in the restaurant! We started with chips and salsa. The salsa was like strange tasting ketchup and the chips had no flavor. I wasn't hungry and ordered a chile relleno a la carte. My son ordered a shredded beef chimichanga combo. The server was a nice young man. Once he brought our food, he never came back to check on us. The chile relleno did not taste fresh. The sauce had a tartness to it. I'm not accustomed to having green sauce on it and thought that might have been why it was tart. Although the portion size of my son's combo was plentiful, he said it tasted terrible and choked half of it down just to get sustenance and because I had to pay for it. With the salsa being disgusting and my son's rice being dry and tasteless, I asked for a small bowl of pico. When the bill came, I was surprised to see I was charged for it! With money being tight and the food barely edible, it gave me heartburn to see my bill was almost $30.00! The only thing that place has going for them is their décor and music. It's my dad's favorite local Mexican place and has been for years. I just met him for lunch today and the place has changed. The food is still decent and service is good, but there are huge TVs everywhere (to show music videos) and the music was extremely loud. It has a club-like atmosphere now, which would be great in the evening for drinks, but not at noon on a Tuesday. We had to strain to have a conversation. Maybe new ownership? We asked the server is it was possible to drop the volume a bit and he said he would attempt to ask management. I'm not sure he did or maybe the management didn't hear him over the bass.....
