Manuel was our Wait Staff and we would ask for him when we return. My novia and I were walk-ins for Brunch. We are both permanent residents, Ale from Merida and me from Progreso. I had the best shrimp "coctel" I ever had to the point where I wanted to take the sauce home . . .but I was told "secreto". Ale ordered a selection of 3 different dips with toasted pita slices and totilla chips . . each one was terrific, although I thought the hummus could have used a bit more zing. The A. The... presentation was terrific.
As to the ambience . . . OMG . . . fabuloso. Our table was railside on the veranda and we had a fab view of the Gulf and the white/black umbrellas that shaded the beach tables belongIng to Casa del Pastel.
The only negative was we both had a taste for raw oysters. A dozen "Oysters Trotter" were 320 pesos. We just wanted a dozen raw oysters and were told they were sold by "the piece" . . . i.e. 60 pesos each . . . that would have made a dozen 720 pesos over double the Oysters Trotter. We declined . . . that's crazy, and likely that means Oysters Trotter are "pre-prepared", refrigerated or frozen and reheated. read more
