The station was very crowded when Hubbers and I got there, so there was a bit of confusion where to buy the tickets and where to line up to board the bus. (There was also lines for cruise passengers and the signs weren't very clear.) We weren't in a hurry, so we eventually figured it out. There was also a waiting area specifically for us, but that also took a minute to figure out. We had a bit of time so I got the chance to check out a lot of vendors and scored some pretty cool (and fairly priced) souvenirs. But back to the ride: we ended up catching a newer and slightly updated bus, so the overall ride was better. The seats were better, the ride wasn't as rough, and the AC was working more efficiently. The trip was more comfortable, so I didn't even notice time going by. We were back in Merida in no time. There are buses leaving every 15 minutes to and from Merida, sometimes sooner depending on how quickly they fill up the buses. So don't fret if you miss one. Another will come along in a few minutes. It's a good (if not a better) option if you don't want to deal with parking or paying for an Uber. Something I'm going to keep in mind on the next visit.

Hubbers and I deliberately made time to experience this tour just so I can learn more about his family's hometown. And because I couldn't understand most of what was being said, didn't really learn much. Party of three, we met up with the host and was told the next bus run wasn't going to be for another half hour, so the three of us killed time by cooling off with sorbets at the dulceria nearby. We came back and we ended up waiting another 20 minutes. I'm guessing they were hoping for more passengers. Hubbers and his cousin decided to take the tour upstairs - under the sun. That was a no-no for me since it was way too hot for me to hangout there for an hour, so I stayed put downstairs. I searched for headphones to plug in their translation outlets: nothing. Them outlets didn't even look like they were working. But just for curiosity, I asked the driver if there were headphones. He told me, "NO." So, I had to put a quick thought in this: should I join Hubbers and cuzzo upstairs and maybe he can translate for me but suffer the blistering sun, or just stay downstairs and be more comfy? I went for the latter. So, yes, disappointing. I also need to mention the windows were open, so this is not an AC'd one-and-a-half-hour ride. I did enjoy seeing some structures, I understood a bit of description of some of them (but not enough to learn about them). We made one stop - just to pick up more passengers, and we were back in front of the cathedral in no time. Not recommending for non-Spanish speakers. I can't remember how much it was but wasn't worth it for me. One-and-done.

Their website is full of lies! This tour is only available in Spanish, unlike it says on the…read morewebsite. Even on the registration, it asks for English or Spanish, but it did not matter. Unless you speak Spanish, do not take this tour unless you just want to drive around the city for an hour and a quarter (which was also shorter than the website claimed). Also, it is not a hop on and hop off ride like it says on the bus and on the website. The bus never stopped. I am giving it to stars because it was nice to see the city and one of us spoke Spanish and they understood the history. We took the barrios tour.

Located on the Malecon, SIL and her husband were generous enough to book us a room facing the…read morebeach. And it was convenient that their room was right next to us. But before the pros, let's do the CONS first. 1. No elevators, so if you have issues going up and down the stairs, try to book a room on bottom floor. 2. The water pressure on the showerhead is so weak, so taking a shower will take longer than usual. It didn't help that the showerhead was installed incorrectly (see attached video.) 3. There are no phones in the rooms, so if you need anything from the staff, you'll have to speak to them at the concierge. 4. Our safe didn't work, but they alleviated that problem by giving us the key to use it manually. 5. It took a minute for the AC to work, but when it did, it was great. 6. I found a lot of crap under the beds, which told me they don't clean the room as thoroughly as they should. This prompted me to clean everything we used in the kitchen. And on to the PROS: 1. Complimentary bottles of water. And they came in handy! 2. A rinsing station right up front to clean off your feet if you were coming from the beach. This is a clever idea. 3. Staff was always ready to help when you need them. 4. They provide towels for whenever you need them for the pool or the beach. (They give each guest a card which you turn in for a towel and get back once you're done with it.) 5. The kitchen has all the basic equipment in case you decide to use it. (It came pretty handy when we wanted to reheat some of our leftovers/takeout from eateries we went to.) 6. Beds were clean and comfortable. Nothing to complain about that! 7. The TV works! Basic channels, but still. IT WORKS! 8. And this tops all of it: the view is AMAZING. Once you step out, you forget about all the CONS. It is incredible, breathtaking, and just... you know what, just book a room with a view, and you'll understand. ;) We had a wonderful stay. I would consider staying here again given the chance. I'm hoping for upgrades by then. (But they got time... I know it'll be a long minute before that next visit.) Definitely something to look forward to!

Absolutely no issues at arrivals and departure…read more It was extremely easy disembarking, finding baggage claim and getting out. Our ride timed everything so perfect that the car was right up front as we exited. Everything went very smoothly. At departure, checking in as well as going through screening was just as smooth. We arrived with plenty of time, so Hubbers and I had the chance to get a couple of drinks, buy last-minute souvenirs and just pretty much chill before boarding. I experienced no stress at all. All levels of staff were organized. It is a small airport, but it boasts a lot of good qualities: it's clean, it's nicely designed, and it just gives off a great vibe. It's the kind of experience you want to ease the stress of travelling. A lot of local and international airports might learn a thing or two about how things are done here. Awesome first run.

You can get a taxi or rental car very easily, but we had arranged to be picked up at the airport, which was very convenient and not too expensive since the airport is only 20 minutes or so from the heart of the city. I wish the airport had a few more food options and shops, but it had plenty of seating and was very comfortable. An airport I didn't mind at all!

They are strict about bringing your belongings. They have at least 3 cenote within walking distance of each other. I recommend wearing water shoes. You park them pay for admission then take a boat to the Cenote. They have these raccoon looking cat don't feed them they bite. Leave them alone and they will leave you alone. Bringing food isn't allowed. We did on a cruise ship tour. My husband and I had a good time.

I think the reviews of this place should strive to be a bit more honest. The water stank, like…read moresmelled very bad, only one cenote seemed really clean enough to swim in and even for a small mexican business the bathrooms were really bad. Like, no toilet seat on any toilet including the handicap stall, meaning disabled people can't use the bathroom. It was very cool to see raccoons and birds and crocodiles up close, but I wish that they did a better job of maintaining the preserve as there was plastic trash around the edges. I loved seeing the animals and I appreciate what they are trying to do but overall I could not recommend this place.

Buses leave every 15 minutes and you can just get on any one you want - you don't pay for a specific time. So, you can enjoy your day at the beach and head back to Merida whenevs. I believe they take cash only and all riders pay.

Party of 5 (including 2 kids) didn't mind. I made it a part of the Merida experience. SUV peeps took our bags, so we didn't have anything to carry with us other than our personal belongings. It made the trip even easier. I have to mention the fare was incredibly affordable! So we bought our tix and waited patiently for the ride. We sat all the way at the back. The bus we got was old and really dated. There were rips on the chairs, the AC vents were missing - they're just holes blowing out air in one place - there was a teenee moldy smell... but at least there was AC. The trip was about an hour, give or take a few minutes. There was only a few minutes of traffic trying to get out of Merida, but once we were on the outskirts, it was a nice and smooth ride. As mentioned earlier, the bus was dated, so the seats were not exactly comfortable. Good thing the trip wasn't too long. It wasn't long before we got to Progreso and their location is really convenient. It's literally a couple of blocks away from the Malecon which is our destination for a couple of days. TIP: There is a bus that leaves to and from Progreso every 15 minutes, sometimes earlier, depending on how soon a bus gets filled up. I believe there are no other to-and-from destinations. Not the best bus ride, but glad to have had the experience.
