Jenn was very nice from the start and communicated easily when I had questions prior to our stay. Finding her place was very easy and she also let us know exactly where to park. Jenn met us outside the apartment once we got there and she then took us in to give us the tour. The apartment is beautiful and filled with lots of awesome artwork! The kitchen was great and had everything that you need. We planned on making dinner and had no issues with anything. All of the cookware and dinnerware was provided. That was nice. The wooden spiral staircase was so cool because it was the original wood. She warned us to be careful of the narrow steps and that was great advice. The bedroom was beautiful as well with a full bathroom and back deck. Now, the bed was absolutely amazing! Had one of the best sleeps ever! There was also a little reading nook in the corner with some St. Louis reading material that I took advantage of. Very nice touch! Unfortunately there were some things that we weren't happy with. This night was very special to my husband and I and we did our research when it came to booking a room for the night. After finally making a decision we decided on Dwell because of what we read online in Jenn's description of her place, the amenities that were offered and the awesome reviews. We had two very important things that we were looking for. One, we had to have a fireplace and two, we wanted a prepared breakfast. Both of these things were mentioned on her website and in the amenities list on Airbnb. The fireplace did not work and it was super disappointing. I feel that if you don't have a working fireplace, you need to remove it from the list of available options or at least reach out to your guests to let them know. The breakfast was also a major disappointment. We read such wonderful reviews on how great the prepared breakfast was and what we got was yogurt and bagels. Nice, but not what we were expecting. Again, this was something that was mentioned on the website. I read through every single review on Airbnb so we couldn't wait to take a shower with that amazing rainfall shower head. Well, if you don't mind showering in front of a window at night with no window covering then you're good to go. Yes, people lived across the alley so it wasn't like no one could see you. We on the other hand need a bit more privacy. Just to make sure, I stood in front of the window while my husband went outside and he without a doubt could see me. Very, very disappointing. Needless to say, our experience was not five stars like everyone else's and we wanted it to be so badly. Especially when paying the money that we did.

Driving up to this location, I was shocked. I've probably driven by here hundreds of times, but I've never stayed here. The property is not well lit at night, but it is Maryville so it is quiet. Walking into the main "lobby" to check-in I was greeted by this nice older gentlemen and the strong smell of dinner cooking. It was curry, which I love. I learned from the gentleman that this is not only a local, family owned establishment, but that the family lives upstairs! It was nice to chat with them as I checked in. The room I reserved was a single king bed, and a smoke free room. As soon as I opened the door, the smell of must and cigarettes hit me strongly. I bought one of those odor absorbent air fresheners to help. Regardless of that smell, the room was quite clean, albeit cheaply made. The bed was comfortable enough. The room didn't come with any amenities. There is no gym, no pool, no bar, and no breakfast (continental or otherwise.) However, they do allow people travelling with pets. There are TONS of different improvements I'd like to see at this location, including some basic aesthetics. If all you're looking for is a quiet place to lay your head at night, then this might be the place. Forewarn, I did feel the stay is a bit overpriced in comparison to similar motels. You can pay less for something like Motel 6. Some suggestions I have for this Inn, which I desperately hope will begin to thrive, are as follows. Offer breakfast! Whether you decide to do a standard continental breakfast buffet, offer pastries and fruit, or make some homemade food from family recipes, offering a morning snack is nice touch for your guests! A smoke free room should be as such. Make sure those rooms do not smell, as smell indicates the residue from tobacco hasn't really left. Redecorating! Your lobby is not welcoming. Some matching furniture, design, repainting, etc. Basic improvements in the rooms.

They are not updated with technology either (not a single usb port in the room AND no NETLIX or any paid subscription you can watch or sign into! The bedding was old and the 1/4" thick "down blanket", sandwiched between 2 flat sheets, WAS STAINED with pee and blood! GROSS! The worst part were the ELEVATORS! On day one, (I stayed 4 nights), I asked to please sanitize the elevators and they looked shocked! Day 2....asked again...Day 3 asked again, Day 4 I asked AGAIN but told them it's too late now I'm checking out! That really pissed me off. So, just for this review, I asked the guy's name (Ra Shawn). Then miraculously, someone started to clean the elevators. But, they have no concept of periodic maintenance or what a sanitized elevator should like. So, there's no hope of any change. If you are an employee there, reading this, and I can't believe I have to spell this out but you're supposed to sanitize the elevators EVERY DAY at the very least - Not go YEARS!!!! And finally, they service the rooms about 3:30 - 4 p.m. instead of first thing in the morning...which...ruined our naps. We were always back in the room by then. Again...weird management. I will say, the employees were nice (as they lied right to your face) and the beds were comfortable. But, this place was GROSS!

Booking was a breeze and the response from the owners was prompt. This quaint log cabin was rustic with a beautiful view, but also held all the amenities we would need inside--terry cloth robes, coffemaker, toiletries and an abundant DVD collection to choose from! Rough around the edges and not the most comfortable bed, but the character and value for your money is worth it.
