I came here to purchase my first violin when I was 10 years old, and kept coming back for more as I grew older and needed larger sizes. I also came here every time I broke a string... or needed a new shoulder pad... or that one time I broke my violin and needed it fixed. Pretty much, me and my family kept the violin section of this store in business. Although the prices tend to be a wee-bit higher than I would expect, it's a small price to pay for convenience. I could almost guarantee you can find anything you need here. They have most of the instruments and their respective components. It can be quite intimidating to walk into a music store if you don't know exactly what you're looking for, I know I was. But luckily the staff here is not only knowledgeable but they're helpful and polite as well.

His name is  Ondrej Lewit and unfortunately, I don't think he's teaching here anymore. Although, if you get the chance you should totally catch his recitals in CECUT, every year he gives an amazing performance. Chill worthy. From the minute I stepped into this music school, I felt comfortable. This became my second home to me. The receptionist was always kind and gave me candy or coffee (sometimes both if I complimented her nail polish or clothes) and there were always a bunch of kids running around with their instruments. I swear it was like a freaking scene from Fame. I was never good at playing the violin, in fact, most of my lessons were my instructor yelling at me and giving me a hard time. But I can still remember everything he taught (yelled at?) me. Excellent quality in instructors and nurturing environment. They have lessons for almost every instrument in here. We were responsible of buying our own instruments, so unless you're really into the harp I would reconsider that option.... there are A LOT of stairs to get to the main office, and I felt so bad for that poor girl having to carry that enormous harp every. Single. Day. Long story short, I would recommend this place above any other place else.

I had to swing by today to return a keyboard that I had purchased online, only to have it show up damaged. The staff greeted me quickly, and actually came out to the car to help load it on a cart. The manager apologized profusely for the poor pack job by the clowns at some GC in Florida, and quickly processed my refund. Really professional, and friendly bunch of guys, too. The merchandising is well done here; they make good use of limited space, and I can say that, while it's a small location, it's still a full service operation, and really worth the trip (and avoiding the one to La Mesa!) for us South Bay people. Good shop, great displays, and great staff- Well done GC San Ysidro; I'll be baaaaack!
