Which is the best when it comes to shopping experiences as small stores! I was quoted an estimate for the repairs, and restringing, and told it would be about 2 weeks. A week later I got the call that our guitar was ready! Not only did they fix it but they made it look as good as new! Jeff was there when I picked it up and he was hella awesome too! When I arrived, the lady at the front desk didn't even acknowledge I had even joined her in the sitting area until I had to ask her 10 minutes in if the instructor was ready. She then said she didn't have me scheduled, even though I had inititally responded to her email saying I had agreed to the day and time that I arrived 10 minutes early for. I ended up waiting another half an hour for another instructor, who was actually really nice and personal. The front desk lady then told me to text only to schedule sessions because "emails get lost" like it was my issue she was disorganized. No where in her initial email did she even state that this was an option to do. After texting my payment and scheduling the second session via text, the second session ended up being just completely BAD. I hadn't had a real lesson in several years and was hoping for some patience and encouragement, exactly how the first instructor taught. This instructor is lucky I don't call them out, but believe me when I say that they left me feeling so inept, kept touching my hand to correct me, and even insulted me by assuming how I was feeling. The only thing I was feeling with them was extreme anger at how HOT the room was (with little ventilation!!), their assumptions, and constant criticisms. I want the business to know that you should vet instructors and staff more. Just because someone might have x amount of experience doesn't mean they won't be rude, disorganized, or condescending to people trying to learn an instrument all over again. The experience here at Harper's Music Store was different however. It's been years since I've been here- last time I was here, I recall getting a synthetic reed for my baritone sax. The owner, Steve, greeted me as I walked through the door and asked me what my needs were. I told him I was looking for a beginner AMP and first showed me some small, cheap options. I then asked him that I wanted something with a little more features to it and then showed me a Marshall MG30FX and a Spider IV Line 6 75 W. I decided to go with the Line 6 as the presets and customizability of the AMP was what persuaded me in buying it. I'm not sure if he works here too but Michael helped me in further solidifying my purchase of the Spider AMP over the Marshall because of the same reasons, so thank you to you too Michael! Purchasing my Fender Starcaster here was a breeze- I traded in a guitar for the Starcaster and that process was very straight forward- just show your ID and Steve'll take a look online to see how much it is priced and give you a fair offer like he did with me. Overall, if you're looking for musical needs, going to Harper's Music Store is a great idea. The customer service let alone is really what knocks this place out of the park. I'll be coming here again if I need anything else.
