I mean REALLY shady! So to receive the level of hospitality, patience and professionalism along with a HUGE somewhat "funky" house was refreshing. My brother-in-law rented the main house and two cabins for a first annual Family reunion (16 of us). Clearlake holds a special place in the hearts of my husbands family so coming to the lake was a given. The main house is quirky and has plenty of room for a large family to sleep and hang out. Is it 5 Stars in a "SF Ritz Carlton"Way? Ah no. This is 5 Stars for Clearlake folks. The main house is old with a musty odor and the furnishings are far fancy but completely comfortable. Lots a large TV's, free wifi and newer kitchen appliances. Down side, totally not a good option for the elderly or handicap because there are lots of stairs. My 80 something parents-in-law had to stay in one of the small adjoining Cabins because the quantity of stairs in the main house just wasn't doable for them. The real gem is the fact that you're right on the lake. Yes it's got algae but look past the first 5 feet of shore and you'll see the true wow factor. There is a very large deck off the second story and .... WOW! The views were breathtaking. The outside "yard" is massive. Oh the parties that could be and probably have happened here were probably epic. And a tiki bar? YES! I loved that there is a Chavez Market right across the street so running out of or forgetting anything isn't a problem. It's a pretty nice market (clean, fresh produce and SAFE). We had a wonderful reunion here and even though there were a few restroom issues and the beds are like sleeping on clouds, and the cabins smelled like smokers stayed there, it's still a great place for a large group. Right on the lake ... Like RIGHT on the lake!

I pulled in and it is obvious that the place is old and needs repairs. Lily was nice and while I booked a small room with no kitchen she implored me to upgrade and even showed me the difference in rooms - I didn't need a kitchen and the small room was fine, but I felt like maybe she needed the extra income, so I upgraded. The room itself is very modest, everything is old and in need of an update...I wasn't sure I wanted to walk on the carpet on my bare feet. With that being said, the bed, bathroom and kitchen area were clean. There is not HVAC, so be weary in the heat of summer (small wall AC unit) or the freeze of winter (small floor heater). I ventured to the elevated dock area to look out at the lake - The view is beautiful, there is zero doubt about that, but the dock and the surrounding structures are all in such disrepair its very sad; I didn't feel safe. The walls are quite thin (I was in #5) and I could here traffic from the street, doors closing, TV's, conversation, etc...Also, they advertise that no pets are allowed, but the man staying in the unit next to mine had a large labrador that came lumbering out as I arrived...He later took the dog to the lake, let it swim and then brought it back wet and let it back into his unit...mmmm wet dog smell! Would I stay again? Given that there really isn't any good hotel (Marriott, Hilton, etc) in Lakeport, his place is as good as any and did I mention the bag of Famous Amos cookies on my pillow?! My husband walked in to check out if they take dogs, the owner came out to look at our cute little pup, and within ten minutes we were tucked into a sweet little cottage close to the Lake. And, I'll admit that I was anxious about staying by Clear Lake because of it's bad rep with poverty...but this place was quiet and actually gorgeous in a way that Napa can't compete with.

She felt as though we was tricked from the pictures. She was told no refunds. My aunt was so disgusted she nearly got back on the plane and flew home. In my beach house cottage the power and stove went out. They stated its a DFI switch or something like that, nevertheless after having a "employee who can fix it." They couldn't find her, she went home. So I had to wait to finish cooking. After about 2 hours they magically came back on. This seems as though its been a ongoing problem from the way they made it sound. Another one of my aunts had to wait for her unit to be painted 3 hours past check it. Yes I said painted! Who paints a unit same day of check in? Well later I find out they had a squatter who wouldn't leave dying there. the place smelled so bad they had to paint it to remove the smell. They wouldve been better off not renting the unit till it was complete. My aunt had to try and sleep there with paint fumes and she has asthma. Lastly mother and I was hanging out till midnight. When it was time for her to goto bed, she discovers her unit flooded from the AC. Her Bedding was soaked. They did come and mop it up and give new bedding. They literally gave the new bedding to my mom. My mother is handicap, the guy claims he has never maid a bed before. My mother could've slipped or gotten electrocuted, the offered no help. Here is the worst part they offered a $50 discount for the trouble. Moral of the story is NEVER got there. They need new owners and management that gives a dam.

Sans concierge, the Bluefish Cove is a comfortable hideaway for those outdoorsy types who truly like to play outside. A private pier with small slips are available for guests to dock their fishing row boats, and at the end of it sits a small boat house with a wood burning stove and some comfy seats. A convenient landing spot indeed...a quiet spot to enjoy a bottle of wine and listen to the crackle of the fireplace after a long day of sublime laziness. Blue Fish Cove is a simple no-frills kinda place located "off the grid" for those of y'all who don't want to be bothered... and it's a hop skip and jump away from Sac and SF. The customer service here is excellent. The owners, namely Ms Judy, was very kind , extremely accommodating, and they're pet and family friendly.

The minuses: it's not well kept up. Weeds and overgrown grass everywhere. An otherwise nice view of the lake blocked by recycle bins and about 10 trash cans. At least one dog owner did not pick up after their pet so I picked up a fair amount of dog poop including one that sat in the concrete outside the laundry room for 3 days. The laundry room was surprisingly clean but some lowlife left a giant bag of their kitchen trash in the trash can. I don't think the park is looked after on a daily basis or this would have been picked up before I had to do it. As others have said this park is mostly occupied by older, unkempt RVs and motorhomes. Lots of trash everywhere tho maybe left by the day fishermen visiting the lake. Our outdoor space was very thorny so our dogs kept getting them stuck in their paws. Would not visit again. We would if it was maintained.

Everything is clean and the sounds of nature is beautiful and relaxing. The gentleman at the front desk gave us a tour of the different rooms so I chose the waterfront view. Not a big price difference and absolutely worth the extra money. What could have been a pretty stressful situation became the best thing possible! I'll definitely be marking this as the place to go to next time we are in the area!

Unfortunately, the advertised "air conditioning" consisted of poorly functioning wall units and our group of four were forced to leave the property in the middle of the night when the power went out (apparently a common occurrence) and the temperature in our room climbed from 90 degrees (with AC and fans on!) to +100. We were originally a party of six and the two that made it through the night reported that the power and water were out through the entire stay. We expected an apology (and maybe a refund) from the Innkeeper, but instead received a torrent of personal attacks, defensive denials, and failure to take responsibility. I'll let the email exchange speak for itself in the screenshots to demonstrate how poorly she handled the situation. (And to save her the time of refuting this review as she did all the others with false claims that there was no record of the guest or they don't have a cobweb, cat, or cleanliness problem, because oh yes, they sure do!) Extreme heat and questionable cleanliness may be tolerable for some guests at this price point, but the Innkeeper's reaction is reason alone to avoid Rumsey House at all costs. With the windows open, a cool breeze at night makes it relaxing to fall asleep to. In the morning you wake up to nature's beauty of humming birds, birds, chickens, ducks, and more which sweetens my life as I am reminded of my summers reading books such as A Girl of the Limberlost or Anne of Avonlea. Our room is cozy with an attached comfort room (restroom). A window seat with a great view overlooking mountains and the lush property. Our host has always been accommodating and wonderful. Breakfast is another special treat! Last occasion there was coffee cake and fresh picked eggs. Today we enjoyed a delicious salad made of local tomatoes, avocado, cilantro, & home harvested pine nuts, fresh picked eggs and cheese, and a peach clafouti. We've been to many bed and breakfasts and the Rumsey House has always been one that we make most of our greatest lasting memories with.

Paddle boats swimming and rock skipping kept us busy among other things. The views are breathtaking and the vibe is super chill! We were able to play our music and BBQ with no issues. The owners stay on the property and are extremely attentive. They even cook a Sunday breakfast faithfully to show their appreciation to their guests. The river just across the street was a great bonus peaceful and scenic though the area was pretty packed during our stay. Our site had full hookups plus WiFi , which made things really convenient. The property has some games and outdoor activities, which were fun for a bit, but our grandson got a little bored after a while. A few walking trails or more kid-friendly options would've been a nice addition. We also needed a couple of basic supplies like batteries and a screwdriver, but couldn't find them nearby or on-site, which was a small downside. Still, the place was clean, quiet, and relaxing we appreciated the peaceful atmosphere and would definitely consider coming back (with a few extra supplies next time).

Having private access to the lake for swimming, kayaking, paddle boarding or fishing was very nice. do not have anything negative to say about this RV park. If you want a get away and don't want to tent camp, they have retro RV's and Tiny homes to rent. We will go back again.
