Cary Launderette is one of those Laundromats that at first glance looks like time forgot. However if you have a thing for "vintage" places that really have not been updated since the '60s, and you want to play out your '60s bored housewife fantasy albeit with somewhat newer washing machines, then this is the perfect place for you. The folding tables are in those cotton candy colors so prevalent in the '60s, and the security camera from the time period makes you feel so secure as it points at the change machines making you wonder if it even works. Besides the vintage love fest, the reason why I drive well out of my way to wash my clothes here is because the prices are reasonable, there is ample room to fold, and the owner is very pleasant once he gets familiar with you. Most of the other Laundromats charge you 25c for 5 minutes of drying, but here it's 25c for 8 minutes. There are about four sizes of washing machines, ranging from home-sized, to industrial size machines good for bedding like comforters and duvets. The largest machine costs 18 quarters ($4.50), the next size down costs 14 quarters ($3.50), then 10 ($2.50). One caveat I have with this place are the newer "high efficiency" machines in the back. I once tried this because I wanted to use less energy in my wash, but the dispensing drawer leaked out my softener onto the floor when it being pours (the drawer pulls out to access), leaving my clothes stiff and still somewhat soiled (from normal wear). I usually do my laundry late in the afternoon, because the place gets crowded, and tend to end right as the Laundromat is closing up, so I get to see that the owner diligently wipe down the machines and clean out the gunk from the detergent and softener in the dispensing drawer. I mention this since I have been to many Laundromats where the dispensing drawer is horribly messy with other people's cheap detergent to the point where I wonder if it is clogged or not; this is not the case at Cary Laundromat where I have not seen any residue from years past. Another reason why I come here is because it is centrally located in the old downtown Cary which allows me to get something quick to eat while the clothes wash and/or dry as there are several worthwhile eateries within a five minute drive. I am very aware that most people would not give this place the time of day due to its décor and because it's right next to a pawn shop; however I have never once had any reason to feel unsafe here even after dark. This is the absolute worst place I've ever been in my life and the guy is so disrespectful and weird. He was disrespecting on me for using scent beads when I didn't use them at all and someone next to me did. when I asked for change, he was just being very disrespectful even though I had never been there before and it's just extremely poor service and dirty. read more

Very basic laundromat. Quarters only! Washing machines were pricey in my opinion. Came to wash large bedding. The large washers required 34 quarters ( $8.50)! These are old machines with mainly temperature adjustments/ no extra rinse or other options. Dryer was 6 mins per quarter, so about 1.25 for 30 mins. read more

I visited Cary Launderette for the first time recently. It's an older laundromat but is well maintained: clean floors and bathroom, orderly spacing of carts, two folding tables, and change machines that work. It's a pleasant place near downtown Cary to hang out while your clothes and larger pieces are getting clean & dry. The launderette does not have the super-large machines that you will find in Apex, and all its machines look older, but it has top-loading washers and two sizes of larger front-loading machines. One front-loader costs $5 (20 quarters) and the largest costs $8 (32 quarters). I would have liked to use the largest machine but didn't because of cost. However, the smaller machinea did a good job of getting bedding clean. The dryers cost $.25 for 6 minutes. This laundromat is considerably cleaner, quieter, and more pleasant than the one in Apex where I've previously gone, and it's where I plan to go in the future. read more

If I could put a zero on this place I would. He put sex noises in the laundromat while my five-year-old daughter was in the area. I am a single mom that works full-time, seven days out of the week. I thought this place closed at 8:30pm but I was wrong it closed at 8pm. My clothes finish drying at about 8:04pm the owner was extremely mad about it. When I was trying to get my clothes together in my baskets and my daughter was on my phone. He began to watch porn and raised the volume to get me out. I urged my daughter to go in the car while I tired to hurry out. I videotape the incident and called the police. They couldn't do much but his behavior is in their records. If anybody has or had an experience I say report him and rate your experience on here. Also evidence are key. read more

This laundromat in Cary was dirty, the attendant was unpleasant and onlyseems to be there sporatically which makes pick up and drop off difficult! I left bathroom rugs to be washed and they didn't seem all that clean when I picked them up. Go somewhere else! read more

Machines are old an unreliable, washers/driers/vending. I told the owner that his machine took my money and he gave me back partial of what it took. In the same day his vending took my money and he refused to give that back stating "its not my problem". This is my last time giving this place my hard earned money, as an African I refuse to let others take advantage of me. read more

The dryer wasn't working after I put money in. I reported it. The owner told me to put more money in the dryer. It still didn't work. I reported it again. He fixed it but wouldn't refund the extra money I put in. He was very rude. His sole job should be to keep the equipment up and running. I don't need to be in a fancy environment to wash my clothes, although I'm spoiled by Clean Rite cleaners in Brooklyn, NY. It just needs to be clean and functional. Although clean, the carts and tables need to be replaced. The washing machines were good, but the dryers at 7 minutes per quarter were not drying the clothes. It took over 40 minutes worth of drying to get a small load practically dry. The clothes never felt hot. I spoke to the owner and he just recommended putting in more quarters. I won't be returning unless it's just to do washing. read more

I mean it's a laundromat. Nothing special. Not the cleanest. I felt an urgent need to sanitize my hands after touching the machines.

Coming in, I'd figure I would give this place the benefit of the doubt but for the price to wash your clothes compared to what is in here is a little high. I've paid less for nicer places. 3 washing machines were broken and there aren't many as it is. At least the change machine dispensed the right amount. read more

I went to this laundromat because of one of the positive reviews about the attendant and how he cleans the machines. I can not say my experience has been the same. I went to wash King sized comforters which I can not fit in my machine at home. The large machines cost $5.00 a wash which is a little more expensive then the other local laundromat. I was very disappointed when the washer didn't dispense the soap!!! There is no attendant present and the phone doesn't even have an answering machine! I had to spend more money and re-wash the comforters!! The machine I first used wasn't marked out of order and that's probably because no on is here to complain too! Being I had to wash stuff twice I have been here over 2 hours and no attendant! So there is no attendant and no way to get in touch with anyone to tell them machine #12 is broken and I would like my money back!! read more
