This is our Carvel. It's always clean, organized and provides consistent, accurate pricing (receipts). During the COVID-19 quarentine (while hours had differed from regular), I pulled up and saw Moriah wiping down the doors with antiseptic. I asked if they were still open and she informed me that they had closed 50 minutes prior to my arrival, but she graciously invited my patronage, anyway. Absolutely disgusted. I was really looking forward to having a carvel soft serve--but when I asked the girl that was serving us to add chocolate sprinkles she proceeded to do so while twirling her hair ungloved over my ice cream and the sprinkles. Disappointed. Last week we had a Carvel ice cream cake at a friend's house down the shore. It was so good we were craving it again. We found this local Carvel in Somerset and picked up the small square (only 4 to 6 pieces) for $21.00. Now we could have gotten more ice cream for much less money if we had gotten hot fudge sundaes but we wanted the cake. Big mistake. It was a rip off. If we didn't just have one last week maybe it wouldn't have been such an insult. That cake was easily 2.5-3 inches deep. This one is only an inch and a quarter deep total. Yes, I measured it. (By coincidence I had a tape measure on the table) There was more of the sickening icing on it than anything else. A really shallow layer of chocolate, a very thin, hardly there layer of chocolate crunchies in the very center and NONE about an inch all the way out to the perimeter. And then the layer of vanilla was just barely 1/4 in deep. I guess there is no standard since the carvels are all independently owned. It's a shame because we will not be going back there and will not recommend I will be packing a cooler with ice next time I head down the shore and bringing a cake back from that location,,, they were generous- or at least, you get what you pay for. read more

I really like this Carvel location because of the location. Even though it's further from where I work than the one in Highland Park I go here because the parking is easier. Some of the staff is very friendly and others seem a little standoffish, there is a guy I see there that never smiles. The two sisters that work there are funny and friendly, I like them a lot. This location has a $10 credit card minimum that they're rather strict about enforcing. If you're buying a cake or a few things it will be no problem, but bring cash otherwise. There is a convenience store a few doors down that has an ATM if you do forget to bring cash. I like the featured flavors and how they made ice cream sandwiches with said flavors. Last year they had Nutella flavored ice cream as a featured flavor for a month, so those sandwiches were delicious. Other good flavors they've had in the past include Oreo, mint, and pumpkin. read more

This place can be found next to boston market in a little shopping plaza off easton ave. We always order ice cream cake here for bdays. You pick a cake out and they write whatever you want on them. Try their cookie dough shake. Very good and extra thick. Friendly staff and its never busy there so service is nice and quick. Prices are pretty good. Not expensive at all. read more

I come here pretty often so the ice cream is always good, but when I came on Wednesday one of the girls (has medium skin and bob cut long brown hair) kept touching her hair while making my milkshake. One of the major rules of food manufacturing (cooking, baking, producing): NEVER TOUCH YOUR HAIR. Every second the hand touched the hair, and I wondered why she doesn't work at Walmart. The milkshake turned out good, but she just seemed very entitled the entire time as well as not knowing much of what she's doing. The manager isn't usually seen that often either. Asked if they had a certain flavor that I saw on the site and the young lady rudely replied, "we don't carry it" all while rolling her eyes. Went here for soft serve with family members who have dietary restrictions. We had checked the website and found that some flavors might be acceptable and some not, so check at the store. When we inquired of the server which varieties might contain eggs she seemed unsure and thought they all did. We asked to see their ingredient lists and she said they did not have any. Aren't food establishments required to have a list of all ingredients to protect people with food allergies and religious restrictions? At least she was honest about the possibility and said she had had prior inquiries and her manager had not provided a list. Clearly Carvel and the manager need to step up and have this information available to customers. read more

Carvel is Carvel. The ice cream tastes the same at all of the franchises. The problem I have with this Carvel is that they don't apportion the ice cream out properly. We recently purchased a package of Flying Saucers and we were very surprised at how little ice cream was in the Flying Saucers, not to mention the fact that the ice cream was all on one side of the package and tasted a little weird. You know that funky taste when ice cream is thawed and then frozen again? That taste, plus the fact that what little ice cream was in the Saucers was all on one side of the package tells me that this Carvel has a problem with their freezer. It's not good for an ice cream store to have a freezer problem. Another issue I have w this store is that they have a $10 minimum for use or a debit card. What about the people who come in for a cone? I guess they don't want those customers. Even tho I really like Carvel, it's the franchisee that makes or breaks the store. Had to drive all the way back and the young girl behind the counter could care less, simply exchange the ice cream and still charged me for the topping! Their ice cream sandwiches are stale, lack ice cream and as hard as a golf ball. They also have a $10 minimum to use your card. Travel a little further. This one isn't worth the money. read more

This place is so unpredictable!! Every time you go there the prices are different and you see a new face. They can not keep steady workers. This particular carvel has had several owners. I went there last week and I was disgusted because they had a new girl working and she made my ice cream very messy!!!! Carvel needs to come down on their prices or give you more for your money. Wow! What an exceptional experience I've had here. In my many years of dealing with service staff, this Carvel has the best. The owner is extremely friendly and available for anything you may need and tries to be as accommodating as possible. The manager, Sean, has been there for quite a while and seems to know every customer who comes through the door. The rest of the staff follows the examples set by those two and also have excellent customer-service abilities, and are attentive to the needs of everyone. Even when there's a line to the door I'm certain that I'll be served by someone promptly who is friendly, caring, and professional. Cost is on-par with other ice cream businesses.
