I'm honestly disgusted. I went to this Carvel and got a cup of soft serve, only to find what looked like maggot larvae mixed into the ice cream. At first I thought it was just a weird texture, but after taking a closer look--there's no mistaking it. I nearly got sick. This is completely unacceptable and a serious health concern. I might have had slower service in life but the lack of consistency at this location is what worries me. On top of the fact that multiple times my orders have been wrong , they yelled at man for not wearing a mask; meanwhile they lack social distancing markers. Do not order from this location!!!! I purchased a 33$ Carvel cake that was missing both the layer of chocolate ice cream as well as the crunchies. I confirmed with the employee when I purchased that I was buying what i wanted. I didn't eat any of it and even left the slice I cut in the box showing the inside of the cake. I returned the following day and the owner herself refused to refund me or even offer an equal exchange. In fact she told me, "what do you want me to do about it" "so I'm just supposed to take a loss" "that's a you problem" and the real kicker, "I can't be responsible for what my employee said." It's hard to screw up a Carvel store. And I know the people there work hard, so this isn't fun to write. But here's the deal: If you are going to have an ice cream store of any kind, especially Carvel, you are going to have children and all their foibles. And when you tersely ask my wife, with 3 kids in tow, to hurry up and close the cooler while she tries to sort out your jumbled inventory, that's just not cool. Then, when you give cheerful, Mayberry RFD treatment to the lady with the 1 quiet child and give the cold stone stare to the one with the three kids, especially after the "close the cooler" act, then you are convincing us that we should go to the Carvel in Pleasantville instead. read more

Appalled at the poor customer service displayed tonight. No greeting, rushed me through my order, (with not a single additional customer present in the store waiting). After explicitly stating I wanted BOGO small sundaes, I was charged double for a second order (bc they were Jr. size-never has been an issue in the past, as we are regulars who live in neighborhood). Upon questioning the charge, pointing out her lack of transparency & demanding she rectify the situation by giving me the BOGO deal I was entitled to, she initiated an argumentative interaction in front of another customer, and in a very agitated manner rushed through my new order, huffed & puffed as she carelessly and impatiently prepared, and tossed ice cream in bag (sideways). Patience, kindness & a smile goes a long way. New ownership should communicate this. Lost my business. read more

I have been a Carvel customer since 1968. I took the time to go to Carvel in Briarcliff on Friday evening. I asked for a sundae with vanilla ice cream, hot fudge, whipped cream and nuts. The gentleman who helped me said that he understood. When I got home I opened it and ate because it had a lot of whipped cream and I could not tell there was no fudge. I ate all of the whipped cream that night. Tonight I tried to eat the rest of the ice cream but I was angry because I had paid for ice cream that I did not want. When I called the manager to say that I wanted to return it she objected but eventually she said that I could bring it back. So, after a long day I drove across Ossining to Carvel. The owner told me that my request was ridiculous. She said that it was a stupid thing that I was asking for. I reminded her that I patronized her store and did not get what I ordered and she should remedy the situation immediately because that would be good customer service. Eventually she said she would take it back but she repeated over and over that this was a ridiculous request and I told her that this was bad business that I would not take that replacement and I will never again patronize Carvel at any location throughout the world. read more

If I could, I wouldn't even give 1 star for this particular Carvel store. The old man that works there was so rude to my family and I. When we were deciding on what to order, he was not helpful at all, just giving us the evil eye and talking to us like we were wasting HIS time. His tone of voice and the way he was speaking to us was just not professional at all. When we finally purchased our orders (there was about 6 ppl) by credit card, we forgot to buy something else, so when we handed him the credit card again, he demanded us to pay cash because if he ran the card through the machine again, it takes 3 percent of his earnings. I had my brother in law w. his family and they thought he was so rude. I will never go back to that awful place again unless that man retires or gets fired. He was so unprofessional and honestly, that's not how you treat customers. I worked retail too and I never treated anyone the way that grumpy man treated us. Let me tell you a story. Today on 2/1/2019 I walked into this carvel at 9:15. 45 until closing and walking up to carvel all you see is a bunch of kids smoking juuls and blasting rap music twerking on the counter top. As soon as we walked in they were all shocked as if we did something wrong trying to come in and get some ice cream as they continued to smoke indoors. The owner of this Carvel is certainly the worst operator of a Carvel I have ever encountered. I dealt with him a few months ago and thought he was odd. I left and did not give it much more thought. Today, he messed up an order for a special birthday cake and I decided to go to YELP to see the reviews. DO NOT GO TO THIS CARVEL. IT SUCKS. I have been here on multiple occasions and each time they have messed up my order. No one that works here knows how to properly swirl a cone, and thus my ice cream always falls off the top of the cone. I should make this place pay for my dry cleaning bill because of all the times I had to bring my clothes to get their stains out because of ice cream dripping all over them because of these employees lack of ability to make an ice cream cone. The best is when the employee says "sorry it fell so I put it in a cup." No, I paid for a cone I want a cone. Terrible experience. If I could give this Carvel store no stars I would. The store is supposedly open until 10pm. We arrived at 9:35pm and the clerk ignored us while he was busy cleaning up behind the counter. When he finally decided to wait on us, he told us there was no soft ice cream as they have to clean out the machines at 9:30pm. Then don't say you are open until 10pm. We left and went to the Carvel in Pleasantville which is a much cleaner, nicer store and the people who work there are polite and friendly. The Pleasantville Carvel is open until 11pm. Would also give this carvel less than a star. This is my first time posting on yelp but felt it was needed. Ordered a large soft cone... the ice-cream I received was the same height one would receive if they ordered a small cone. The ice cream did not fit to the edges of the cone it came in. I was told it was small because the cone itself held the ice cream. This soft serve ice cream was less than 3 inches in height. When I go to other carvels I get a large cone and it is 6 to 8 inches taller than the cone and it goes over the edges of the cone it comes in. I was sorely disappointed the staff there were terrible at trying to resolve the issue. Would not recommend. Go to any other carvel but this one. They obviously do not want repeat customers at this establishment. read more

If I could give less than a star I would. I used to go to this place in the summer, staff was nice, kids working there were nice. But last week I went there to buy 2 ice creams, the owner was there by himself, in the back, so if you come in make some noise so he can hear you. He wasn't happy, but I just thought he wasn't having a good day. Then I went back in the weekend to buy some flyingsaucers, place was empty again and the floors very dirty! And there he was, in the back again, had to make some noise so he noticed I was there. He wasn't happy again, but I thought it was fine. But today, I went there to buy the buy one get one free sundae Wednesday, and he was soooo rude explaining how it works, with that attitude. I told him, he should be nicer to his customers, no wonder why the place was empty. And the floors were dirty again, he was in the back again and unhappy again. The ONLY reason I am rating this ice cream shop a solid 5 stars is due to the diligent, humorous, charismatic worker, Detroit. He is a lovely breathe of fresh air to see when I go in for my weekly ice cream every Friday night. He's recommended many delicious flavors to me, and I tend to tip him graciously, partially from pity after seeing the unwelcoming presence of others at the shop. That boy deserves a raise. I've been coming to carvel for about 2 months now, I'd say, and Detroit has been a lovely face for the company. He's hard working, friendly, and quite the little comedian! LOL! In conclusion, he is the sole reason as to why I even step foot in that facility anymore. He has become more than just a adolescent that serves me my ice cream, but to a warm aquantince.
