After my experience I felt taken advantage of. I spoke to Ms. Remy prior to filing for divorce and…read moreinformed her that my wife was not going to be seeking any alimony or any of my assets. The very next thing she told me was that it would be in my best interest to go with a flat fee over a billable hour payment scheme. The flat fee was quite large but I was not really in a state of mind to question it. Everything went through fine without any need to go to court after our six month separation. Many months later her office (quite accidentally) sent me an invoice for a little over $700. This covered a filing fee and 3.25 hours of work. When I sent her an angry email, she informed me that it was a mistake and to not worry about it. My biggest problem is that had I not agreed to the flat fee, which was supposedly in my best interest, the ~$700 was ALL that I would've had to pay. The flat fee was almost five times as much, or around $1,000 an hour. She may or may not be a fine lawyer, but keep your own counsel when it comes to your billing decisions.

Jacques Bezou Jr. was recommended to me by a friend who practices family law as the best in the…read moreregion in regards to malpractice litigation, and in particular not just reaching settlements, but actually going to trial and getting favorable results on a consistent basis. After interviewing a few other lawyers, I was impressed with his knowledge and experience and hired Jacques to handle a legal malpractice case stemming from a personal injury case that an attorney friend of mine failed to file. I had substantial injuries which were not properly addressed with my previous attorney over the first year after my accident and within a week or two Jacques put everything in motion to get me seen by the right doctors needed to get me on the path to recovery. Throughout the entire process, which has been one of if not the hardest things I've endured in my life, Jacques has been there every step of the way to support in any way he could, always a phone call or an email away. He has not only been responsive and attentive to the specifics of my case, but he has also bent over backwards to help get the best outcome for me and my family as possible, at times despite it going against his own self interest. In doing so I can truthfully say I have not only gained a honest, ethical and caring attorney, but also a true friend through this situation. Over the past two years, I have also recommended him to a few family members and he has handled each one of their cases with the same diligence and attention to detail as he has mine. I can honestly say I trust him with my wellbeing and if there is ever another time in my or my family's life where we need an attorney, we will undoubtedly be using Jacques again.

In court, sitting next to Jim Moorman, the tables got turned. Judgments were awarded in my favor, and for the first time ever, my ex-husband will suffer serious consequences for his behavior. I was stunned to realize that the laws were never against me during divorce--it's just there's a major difference between being represented by a lawyer who seems adequate and being represented by a really, really good lawyer--namely Jim Moorman. I've shredded my past legal files, put Jim Moorman's business card in my wallet, very grateful to be able to move on with my life.
